“Who do you call when the police murders”
By: Ram Miko Ilan
From: 11 HUMSS 2
Many people experience police brutality not just in one country but everywhere. Most cases like police brutality is a very big deal because they are pictured as protectors but because of what is happening people portray them as criminals. When they commit a crime they don’t even have the same sentence as other criminals because of them being a cop.
One case that makes me very furious is the case of the Gregorio family. How can a cop just shoot an innocent person, even if he is mad shouldn’t he remain calm in situations like that because he is trained. If he is easily provoked then he shouldn’t be a cop.
ACAB All Cops Are Bastards is something that people debate about. But it is pretty simple to be honest. Its like an apple. The one side is rotten the other side is not. It is half rotten and half edible, then is the apple edible or not? It is rotten. Even though other cops claim that not all of them are bastards but defending them wont make the rotten apple fresh again.

Family Week
By: Ram Miko Ilan
From: 11 HUMSS 2
On December of 2019, we went to Ilocos for our family week and went to our relatives. We then stayed there for a day and then went to different locations in Ilocos. I didn’t remember much of the place but I fully remembered that we went to Vigan. It was my first time going to Vigan and when I saw it It was pretty. It felt like I traveled to the past because of how the buildings look. We bought some souvenirs for our friends and then ate.
We then went to Bangui Windmills and took pictures. When we went there it was raining so it was hard to walk to the windmills but it was worth it. We then went to Saud Beach in Pagudpud. It was my first time in a white sand beach so I really enjoyed being there. We stayed there for a couple hours to swim and play in the beach and then ate in the cottage.
After we went to different places we stayed at our fathers friend and then went home. It was a really fun experience to go to different places and I hope I get to experience it again when this pandemic ends.

Pursuit of Happyness
By: Ram Miko Ilan
From: 11 HUMSS 2
Chris Gardner is the one who inspired the movie “The Pursuit Of Happyness” was homeless with his young son while he was training in a finance program.
Chris Gardner was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 9, 1954. Gardner did not grew up peacefully and didn’t have many male role models. He grew up with an abusive stepfather to both his mother and sisters.
He was married to Sherry Dyson in June 18, 1997, a Virginia native and an educational expert in mathematics. His relationship with Sherry was detached in part because of his decision to abandon a medical career and in part due to differences in their behavior. He began an affair with a dental student named Jackie Medina, and she became pregnant with his only child only a few months into the affair. After three years with Sherry, he left Sherry to move with Jackie and prepare for fatherhood. Only then after 9 years he was legally divorced with Sherry.
His son Christopher Jarrett Gardner Jr. was born on January 28, 1981. Gardner worked as a research lab assistant at a veterans hospital after leaving his service but his position was not enough to support a live-in girlfriend and a child. After four years he quit and became a medical equipment salesman.
His life then changed completely when he saw a man parking his red Ferrari one day, and Gardner asked him what he did for a living. The man was a stockbroker called Bob Bridges, and after the two got talking, Gardner expressed an interest in joining the industry. They met again, and Bridges helped Gardner secure an interview for an internship. However, in the days before the interview at DWR Gardner was arrested and jailed for non-payment of parking tickets. He was ultimately able to make the interview, but only in the clothes he was wearing when he was arrested, which included trainers and a vest. Despite the scruffy attire, his sense of drive and enthusiasm was enough to get him the job.
What inspired me was even when he was going through very tough times he managed to overcome them because of his drive. He didn’t give up because he didn’t wanted his child to grow up poor as he was back then. Chris Gardner is one of the people I look up to.

Strings
By: Ram Miko B. Ilan 11 HUMSS 2
Ever since I got my guitar a couple years ago I started to get into it. I practiced everyday to improve my playing and to just get good at it.
My dad is the one to get me to play the guitar since he used to play it too when he was young. He did it as a hobby. What amazed me was he used to learn songs just by using his ear and that’s something I still cant do.
I got my guitar in 2016 but I started to learn it at summer 2017. I didn’t play it because I had a hard time strumming and getting the chords right so I stopped for a while but then I tried it and then started to learn seriously I realized that I can do it. And there I realized that, we can do it if we just put our mind into it.
