It’s strange because in one way, it doesn’t feel like The Owl House has ended. It doesn’t feel like they’ve said their last goodbye’s, and that we won’t be seeing them again. 

Usually when a show ends there’s this very specific and bittersweet feeling of letting something go. But not this time. 

And I think it’s all because of the timeskip at the end, which showed that they created a new portal between the realms. Luz didn’t have to say goodbye to the demon realm for good, it’s still there for her to return to whenever she wishes. Much in the same way that The Owl House will still be there if we ever want to go back and rewatch it.

So in that sense, it feels much more like a “Goodbye, for this time”

Raine palisman!!! Is this a new one or one they got to reunite with, after so many years away for its safety? There was that one bio in-universe noting that Raine’s palisman was unknown, and I recall Dana alluding to coven head palismen being a spoiler...!

I kept trying to figure out why Hunter’s timeskip look was throwing me off because like, hair is same length/style, outfit isn’t terribly different just added an apron, like what was it that I kept sticking on?? I chalked it up to the more fluid animation style making him look different

LMAO CAMILA CALLS HER OUT!!! It’s only been a week, Luz you drama queen! That was such a meta joke on the usual tropes for these isekai endings, the protagonist is expected to return to ‘real’ life and/or only get to return after forever. Fuck yeah Owl House!

I know that fanart for aesthetic reasons likes to present Caleb as like, being entranced by this beautiful and mysterious witch, but in my heart I know that it was Evelyn who had the “what is this enchanting creature” moment when she saw Caleb for the first time.

Evelyn, who is your run-of-the-mill failwoman, accidentally stumbles into another realm and glimpses sunlight spun hair on a man as pale as snow and countenance frail as the mists that surround him (because he’s fucking starving) and she knows that she’ll never love another witch back home again.

And when she finds her way back she’s telling all her mates at the tavern about the mystery creature of the other world, and all her mates are like “Evelyn, you’re a poor, dumb, peasant like the rest of us, you aren’t going to seduce some beauty from another world”, which Evelyn takes as a challenge. So she arms herself with deadwardian era’s best (worst) poetry, fairy pies, and unfounded confidence.

And then she finds Caleb again and goes all “Hark, you enchanting creature, how can I prove my worth to you-” And then accidentally sets herself on fire.

(And Caleb would have been prepared for the Devil’s servants being competent and seductive, but seeing Evelyn be such a dork nulls the impulse to be wary, because no sermon or pamphlet has ever described witches as funny or endearingly sincere if hazards to themselves.)

1.) essays that are sometimes good points but other times are essays that claim they must be illusions because it would be better writing and try to present that as evidence
