The second half of OP Academy's 56th chapter brings Luffy and Jinbei's clash to a close with a sumo match! Awesome.

There are a ton of fun action panels this time. And during the match, Jinbei recounts his five-day fight with Ace prior in a fairly one-to-one manor as the main manga told it.

There is one key different however, and it's a fun one.

Mango pudding. Ace decided to eat mango pudding using Jinbei's donburi bowl! It's got Jinbei's name on it and everything! Tsk Tsk. That would have been a good time for Ace to remember the manners that Makino taught him.

Joking aside, I love this. It makes sense the reason for the feud between these two is less severe, given the more lighthearted nature of Academy, and it's so perfectly in character for both. Nicely done Sohei Koji.

The chapter then concludes with Jinbei conceding defeat, due to him breaking ground outside the ring, then making a big gesture of camaraderie in the name of Whitebeard, with Luffy and Ace.

Just as entitled and shitty as the rest when it comes to thinking they own something they fancy. Yeah, I think we've got a case of just being a pure baddy girl with no hidden good side.

Well now, don't you just play off of a Fishman Island story nicely? Look who's here!! And using this idea that things are a little different in One Piece Academy because some big tragedies never happened. If Ace is alive...he had that big famous fight with Jinbei. If Nami's village wasn't taken over by a villainous Arlong there a prior connection before these two ever meet. So Luffy meeting Jinbei in this world is much more tense. Shark Senpai's calling Stretchy out!

And these two were talking to Ace about it. While having an ice cream social. Izo seems to be going for some kind of chocolate chip, or perhaps the daring mint chocolate? I'll guess Marco's lighter scoop is pineapple because lore and the darker is a complimentary mango. It's always cool to see WB Pirates with Ace but I love how Wano made these two emerge as the real big bros for him. Don't know if this is the first time we're getting a good look or its new but Izo rocking a kimono-styled shirt under his jacket is super stylish.

Naturally this pair breaking off and having a hand in the current episode make me wonder. Even if it's as simple as these two and Ace running to show up at the clash with Jinbei & Luffy it can lead to something about Kiku's letter or Izo commenting on it. We've still been meandering towards Onigashima and all.
