so, after a long time the final movie released, how about a quick analysis about okikagu last shots interactions? let's go.

this was the first scene in the movie they appeared together in a frame, they didn't had much scenes of course, the movie was more focused on yorozuya and the final lessons with shoyo students and etc. but even though, our two beloved birds had a bit of the big cake. the movie was focused on the others but they had to have final interactions and the movie made that to prove >they< okikagu, are also one of the biggest developed relationships on the anime, that is impossible they keep at the same place and don't importunate each other, and always gonna be like that, even at the end.

this first scene was like "ooh, so you're here too Chihuahua? how you doing dumbass?" kagura's said a "oh hoo, so you finally admitted that yorozuya is stronger than you guys, yes?" I meant, she maybe tried to tease him saying that she's also stronger than him, as ever, sougo wasn't different, he answered her teasing back "what are you saying? if we're supposed to make a mess, is even much fun messing with idiots around." or saying, he was just maybe indirectly offending her too.

the thing that I love on them the most, they don't have cute interactions explicit, but even like this, I still ship them the way they are, I could translate this scene like "hi you dumbass idiot, are u still falling for me as ever?" and then "what do you meant with that? this question mean that you are also falling for me and want me to correspond you? idiot."

after all the movie battle scenes, we get at the end and the last scenes, where we also got THIS: the whole buffet we need to talk about.

I mean, when I saw the spoilers of this scene, my mind exploded, I freaked out because I wasn't expecting any much scene of them together, and then we received this, kagura just leaning her arm on sougo's shoulder. WHAT THE HELL. I said. THERE'S NO WAY THIS IS REAL.

with this scene I can say that, sorachi didn't made okikagu canon, but I think he wanted also to send the message that they ended the history as no more just the kids that used to hate and fight everytime like brats, but they ended as something more close, after all the battles the fought aside each other, learning to be comrades, to protect each other's back when in real danger, they are like rivals with respect, or rivals with intimacy enough to kagura have the freedom just to leaning her arm on her rival. the old brats okikagu never would even greet each other with hands, now you see this arm on shoulder thing? I call this glow up relationship.

just look at how EVERYBODY is standing on their own, but the two love birds have to be close with each other in touch. and also, kagura leaned her arm and sougo at first didn't even realized or minded. like was something normal and natural. like sometimes my girlfriend like to do that.

and then he went like, "okay enough, you can't have this much of taste without reciprocate" HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE THEEEEMMM!!! THATS MY COUPLE!!!! RIVALS TO LOVERS EXCELLENCE!!!!!!

conclusion

in the end, we didn't get the canon we wanted cause sorachi didn't wanted to canonize any couples at the history. but I think it's okay and I'm satisfied. after those final interactions, I believe and can imagine okikagu will no longer be just rivals forever. my bet is that they would eventually get closer and closer with each other and in time they would took a little more to develop ou realize their deep connection and feelings, and let me dream MORE, I did read i lot of fanfictions so for me they could even get married one day and have Souchirou, the headcanon okikagu child the fandom just created.

anyways, I love gintama is the my favorite anime ever, I'm super sad that ended and I will never see okikagu kicking each other anymore, but I love this whole anime sorachi maded and also my favorite rivals to lovers shipp. I hope you guys liked my analysis and lemme hear your opinions about okikagu at the end and what do you think they are now. thank u !!! <3

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 27

MY 6 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 27 (manga chaps 42, 43 and 44):

The Rengokukan arc was important in that it introduced us to the Tendoshuu old farts (and the fact that Otsuu apparently likes to moonlight as MMA-like fighter) but after all this time, when it comes down to it, for me, it’s really become all about the GinHiji and OkiKagu interactions. Sure, the story about Kidomaru and his orphans was sad, I cried when I read the chaps and probably teared up the first time I watched ep, but at the end of the day, I’m a simpleton at heart, so it’s all about my two OTPs.

1) Actually, Kagura’s cuteness factor went beyond the max in this episode, starting with her manhandling of Sougo and demanding him to take responsibility if she lost sleep over a little violence (as if).

2) Okita was pretty cute too. Not that he’s not ALWAYS cute, but he was just especially in this ep.

3) Okita was on Kagura’s mind like the ENTIRE time. It was too adorable.

4) Her wtfness is what makes her so precious.

5) I mean, I’m suppose to not take that out of context? I’m only human.

6) The usual Yorozuya fam cuteness. They always know how to make an entrance.

SHIPS TALLY:

Gintoki x Hijikata: I loved Gintoki’s speech to him about his soul and how Toshi seemed genuinely concerned for his well-being. SO SWEET.

Okita x Kagura: Kagura took Sougo’s threat of decapitating her sloppily as a confession of love. And people wonder why we shippers ship them so hard. She ships them herself, ffs!

Hijikata x Okita: Hijikata was also obviously concerned for Sougo since he was trailing him to see what he was up to.

Gintoki x Kidomaru: it’s a pretty pointless ship considering what happened to him, but he did have his fingers deep inside Gin-chan’s ass so I figured I should probably acknowledge them.

Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just completely unbelievably amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s immense generosity that I am able enjoy Gintama on an extra another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.

This is probably the only time in Gintama that Sougo refers to Kagura by name instead of his usual nicknames like China, which is a pity that we don’t even get to hear it in his voice. The same with Kagura, albeit it’s Sou-kun, instead of Sougo.

My own okikagu headcanons/observations from watching the Soul Switch arc (with the usual disclaimer that I know it’s usually played for laughs):

- Sougo seems to like the nickname Sou-kun very much. He’s very insistent on it, bringing it up thrice in his ‘It’s Sougo’ combined with the “It’s not Zura. It’s Katsura’ gag. My own personal headcanon is that he liked how it sounded in both Kagura’s voice, and when Kagura-as-Elizabeth said it.

- We get an insight of how outsiders view Kagura and Sougo’s relationship. It’s not just Shinpachi, but even the likes of Katsura who think the two of them get along really well. And I know that Katsura is really eccentric, but he refers to Sougo as ‘Okita’ normally so did he really have to go the whole mile with the ‘Sou-kun’ thing? And I don’t even think it was with any teasing intentions in mind even if Kagura got mad about it. I really think that’s how Katsura thinks how close Kagura and Sougo are. 

- How both Sougo and Kagura really make a good team, even if Kagura denies it. And how for Sougo’s part he actually got really absorbed in his role, that he even goes as far as to say ‘the one who will overthrow the bakufu is us’ which shows that unlike Kagura, he doesn’t mind, or even actually likes being in a team with her.

KonTae and OkiKagu Parallels

Just some parallels. I don’t think they’re intended but I like it when my ships have parallels. 

The most obvious one being this:

But there’s also this:

Tae and Kondo’s scene is more serious and mature, but the theme rings true for the both of them. It’s Kagura and Tae respectively who specifically reassure Okita and Kondo about the Shinsengumi, that there’ll always be people who’ll believe in the Shinsengumi no matter where they are. 

The ‘tadaima-okaeri’ exchange. In Kondo and Otae’s case, it’s Kondo who says tadaima but the Otae who says okaeri is apparently a pandemonium. In Kagura and Okita’s case, Kagura doesn’t say tadaima and it’s Okita who says okaeri (I have a lot of feelings for that chapter ok? It was the Shinsengumi’s mission to bring back the Yorozuya together again, and Okita’s specific mission was to gather Shinpachi and Kagura, ‘the lost kids’ as he puts it, but there are certain lines in his fight with Kagura that makes me think the fight was just for him, separate from the Shinsengumi mission though a part of it, it was personal to him.)

Then this line by Okita when talking about Kondo and Otae. I find it interesting, Okita’s insight into what Kondo really wanted in relation to his relationship with Otae. He’s either a closet romantic or softer in his observations since it’s Kondo. Similarly though, that’s what he does when he reunites with Kagura, both the first time and after the time-skip. He simply wants them to go back to their old routine, fighting each other, and despite the time that has passed and the changes they’ve both undergone, for him, he and Kagura haven’t changed at all, and I think that comforts him.  EDIT: Oh yeah, and let’s not forget that both Kondo and Okita have, in some way, ‘proposed’ to the girls, though in Kondo’s case it was part of a gag (though he was serious of course), while in Okita’s case, it was one of his sadistic jokes.

I've been rewatching Gintama and I observed a particular trend—Okita Sougo has a type. More like, there are some very distinct features that he looks for in women (other than the obvious, of course, them being M).

Urara (Correspondence Arc): look at her reddish hair

Sayaka (Love Choriss Arc): look at her blue eyes

Do these features seem familiar? Do they ring a bell?

Sougo just said in episode 161 (Otsuu Arc) that if he had to pick a favorite Ghibli heroine, it would be Kiki because, "...girls who are cute when they're little are already at their peak..." and "It's actually easier to break in girls who have a lot of pride. Once you've broken their self-respect, they're weaker than most people on the inside. The ones with a hard shell fall even harder."

I think he just found a parallel. He could very well be describing China girl and we wouldn't know the difference 🙄 Also, if SKET DANCE episode 26 (Gintama crossover) is to be trusted, then a certain heroine had been binge-watching Kiki 😏

There are so many things I can say about this but I’m gonna make this brief

Sougo did not need to say that.. at all. Out of all alternatives he decided to mention this. Although there could be three things he could mean by “making it simple”.

1. He was trying to start a different argument

2. The whole thing was actually about Kagura

or 3. He’s really off topic

4. He always needs to get Kagura’s constant attention

He’s said things like this before but never so explicit

and in front of Kamui too. That’s what makes this 10x better

When I read this the first thing that came in mind was Mitsuba so I was all “y o U d i   D   n O t   j uS t  G o  t hEr E ” but this is Kamui we’re talking about, he can say or do whatever he wants. Either this or he’s trying to affend her and Sougo saying they’re both ugly. Honestly I don’t think he’s aware that Mitsuba existed all fourth wall breaking aside.
