Personal statement drafting/progression:
I had help from my head of department with this (the orange text), we did go back and forth a few times but I have lost the documents (they were done on my phone as this was easier for me)

Throughout this project i have referred to the research i have done to create a final portfolio to use for my university interviews. With this, i tried to show a range of skills and techniques that represent my work as a photographer, as well as use creative and unique images that catch people’s attention. I also included a range of genres of photography, which aids the creative, unique feel i wanted my portfolio to have. I had feedback when finalising my portfolio from peers and tutors, which helped me get me to the final images as i reflected on what they said and applied that appropriately.

Questions asked at university interviews
1: questions about your personal statement. interviewers may ask you to elaborate on some aspects of your personal statement, or ask you questions about it in general.
2: questions about yourself, for example "tell me about yourself", "how would your grow d's describe you?" as well as other open ended questions about yourself. write out your strengths and weaknesses and sum up your personality in around 5 words. try and be as interesting and different as possible and avoid generalisations/non-desirable answers.
3: questions about your educational history. this can range from school life to college life. Be prepared to answer any questions about this.
4: questions about the university in general, so about the course, the university itself, why you want to study there/that course etc.
5: questions about the subject. they don't want a knowledge wizard, they just want to see passion and general knowledge.
6: topical questions. this can be done to strike a debate or something of the sort. as long as this is accomplished formally and without immaturity, it's actually a good thing to do.
7: competency questions. these are about your skills, so be prepared to give them strong worded answers and prepare wisely for these types of questions.
8: aspiration questions. these are just about what your goals are and why.

How to prepare for a university interview
1: Be yourself, but in a professional manner. Be relaxed too. The best interviews happen with formal conversations.
2: Make sure you find out exactly what to bring/expect from the interview. You can contact the university and ask. Also, if you know who your interviewer is, do some internet searching and see if you can find any common interests.
3: Get to your interview early! Always helps to be around 15 minutes early to your interview. Punctuality is key.
4: Research your course thoroughly. This will help you be able to answer any questions the interview may ask you about the course.
5: Make sure to re-read your personal statement so that if your interviewer asks any questions about your statement, you will be able to answer them with ease.
6: Research questions that may be asked in an uni interview so you can better prepare yourself.
7: Consider doing a mock interview with a teacher/tutor and get them to give you any feedback they can.
8: Come prepared with a list of questions about the course/university, but keep to the academic theme.
9: Research around the subject you're applying for; this helps you with conversing with your interviewer and shows knowledge & passion about the subject.
