DAY ONE — 27 June

My playthrough begins like any other, with playing as Joker through the recreation of the Casino Palace, Wonder’s dream, blah blah blah you all know the drill by now. We don’t need a beginning recap of the plot. This challenge is what we’re interested in, so let’s speedrun all this.

But we officially introduce our protagonist…

Anyway that all done, Smart, who is not in fact Smart - what were his parents on - meets an owl who helps him awaken to his Persona who is undoubtedly more smarter than him. I love you Janosik.

One highlight later, we are now battle worthy and go kill some more Shadows. We get back to the real world, where the Contracts page opens up and I get free pulls which will never be used. I’ll definitely use these Meta Jewels for stamina though.

The P5 event also opens up, so there’s potential rewards for me. Here we also get usual events - I’m particularly interested in the Trials of the Deep event, which is a permanent event that gives you two characters and a weapon for free for beating Velvet Room trials. We’ll do that later. I also do Ren’s character trial to get building materials. There’s also rewards for unlocking Yui’s synergy which we will definitely do.

By completing this Metaverse tutorial and awakening we also unlock Lufel as a character. Thanks game. His synergy is automatic as well when we do unlock it so all’s well that ends well.

We get told about Menaces, meet Kiuchi, and Synergy becomes a thing. With Lufel, we officially become Phantom Thieves and unlock the Business Plan.

This Business Plan is something that terrifies me. It’s currently split into two plans, each with seven steps. Each step unlocks after doing a certain amount of quests from the previous quest. However these quests are much easier depending on how many characters you have. That’s what makes this challenge especially difficult as the prize for Plan 1 is a free 5 star OG Phantom Thief - and I want to get my hands on Ann as she’s OP. Baby steps first though.

Me and Lufel go back to the Metaverse and get code names. We also kill some more Shadows while we’re at it. The P5 stuff happens and we meet back with Merope to unlock the gacha system. This is completely compulsory, so we go ahead with it and unlock our character Kotone.

Now this isn’t technically a pull as Kotone is a guarantee and we’re forced into it anyway. But that all said we now have Mont on the team. I think this game is showing me just a little mercy.

The rest of this process goes more or less alright, nothing much to say except getting used to this team structure. We do unlock the Thief app which lets us finally upgrade our team, even if we just have 3 characters. Luckily, one of Lufel’s recommended teams is with Kotone and Motoha, another story character, so nothing is the end of the world yet. We discover Kiuchi’s Palace and get stuck so we head back.

Me and Lufel get a grappling hook through crafting and hitting level 10 rewards me with… more pulls I can’t use. Nevermind. We go to bed, and the next day we get awoken by Lufel pecking us. We head to the Velvet Room and learn about ruin before heading back to the station, where Tomoko gets injured. As a result we get the Metaverse app officially and head over to the Palace again, unlocking the Phantom Pass. The grappling hook gets used and we infiltrate.

Everything goes as normal from this point on. We take on the Palace and Shadows. I unlock Persona Training and get my first additional Persona Pixie. Motoha officially awakens and joins the team, gaining us a fourth party member.

With everything done up to there, I finish Step 1, giving me Wonder’s weapon Midnight Sun. Motoha’s 4 star weapon comes from the free guaranteed compulsory weapon pull.
