3D Printing and Metallographic Sample Polishing
We have only had our new 3D printer for about a week and in that time we have completed our first prototype!
PACE is excited to soon offer more options for our FEMTO-1100 Polishing Head. Currently our FEMTO-1100 Polishing Head is able to polish 1-6 specimens individually of each other with our Single Force polishing setup. We are currently developing a new system to use with the FEMTO that enables users to use a central force holder, allowing for greater specimen flatness. As part of our endeavor to bring more flexibility and increased options for our Polishing Machines, our Engineering Department has worked this week on printing an individual force coupler, a quick release chuck and a teardrop central force sample holder.  The quick release chuck will be available for either single force or central force polishing. Our customers will have the ability to pre-load multiple sample holders and have them ready to go. With an easy exchange of the polished samples and the pre-loaded holders, made possible by the quick release chuck, lab productivity will increase as will time saved.
Our 3D printer has enabled us to quickly make a prototype of the Central Force unit to be certain all bugs are worked out. Instead of having to wait for prototypes from our manufacturer, we can expedite the process to make our new products available to customers as soon as possible.
As a reminder, our FEMTO-1100 Polishing Head is designed to fit perfectly on our NANO 1000T and NANO 2000T Polishing bases. The NANO 1000T is a single wheel grinder/polisher and the NANO 2000T is a double wheel grinder/polisher, both designed for metallographic specimen preparation. From there, our customers can now choose if they want to use central polishing or single force polishing on their samples, thanks to our hardworking engineers.
PACE looks to not only add new cost-effective metallographic equipment and consumables but also to continuously improve and upgrade the products we already offer. Our 3D printer allows our Engineering department to work through any bugs and perfect our products to the highest standard of quality.

3D Printing
Pace Technologies recently purchased a 3D printer!
This printer will allow us to rapidly produce prototypes so we can quickly make improvements to our products. Instead of waiting to receive each sample from our manufacturers, a time-consuming process, we can work out all of the bugs in-house by trial and error and get the final sample ready for production.
PACE Technologies prides ourselves on the quality of our products so we work vigorously to always improve, always perfect, and always find solutions.
So far we have successfully test printed a working Ball Bearing and are testing out some sample holder centering rings for our FEMTO polishing head.
For more information about our FEMTO polishing head visit:  http://www.metallographic.com/Lab%20Equip/FEMTO-1100.pdf Currently the PACE Engineering Department is working on prototyping a new Individual force quick release chuck and sample holder coupler.
We are excited about the increased productivity and saved time this printer will provide us.  Updates to come!

Pace Technologies Hosts Tucson After5 Tech Mixer
We at Pace Technologies are happy to have had the opportunity to host the Arizona Technology Council’s Tucson After5 Tech Mixer for February 2016. Arizona Technology Council, a trade association catered towards science and technology companies, organizes regular mixers hosted by different members in order to encourage professional networking and relationship development throughout the tech community in Tucson.
We decided to “mix” it up by creating a Hawaiian Luau theme for this month’s Tucson After5. Catering was provided by Mama’s Hawaiian Barbecue with a diverse menu of rice, pulled pork, tilapia, Hawaiian salad, sweet rolls, and a variety of delicious desserts. In addition to a selection of Hawaiian themed beers and wine, we featured Mai Tai’s complete with cherries, pineapple and umbrellas which were a hit among the guests.  The delightful surf sounds of local band Shrimp Chaperone provided an excellent backdrop in which guests could eat, drink, and network sporting their Hawaiian leis. PACE employees, identifiable by our assortment of Hawaiian shirts, spent time networking with guests before providing group tours of the facility.
As a company that is well-known for our international exports, the mixer afforded us the opportunity to not only share a bit about what we do here at PACE but also meet other businesses within the Tucson tech world and form lasting relationships within our own local community.   We would like to say “mahalo” to everyone who came out and made our mixer a success. A special thanks to Arizona Technology Council, Mama’s Hawaiian Barbecue, Shrimp Chaperone, and our great team for putting this all together.
