To the point of giving social media handles to the US for ESTA reasons: I mean, technically, that question is optional. Also, that question is one of the reasons I have a LinkedIn account, with a photo made by my employer, with my legal name, work position, work address, coworker network and very Safe For Work posts I don't mind anyone seeing.

If any government wishes to cross check that I'm a real person with a real job at a real institution in my country of origin, my LinkedIn is right there - there's no need for neither my boss nor any official to be aware of the existence of my tumblr.

it's crucial that you untie "special interest" from "expertise". "it's true just trust me bro" doesn't have any extra weight when you add "I know because it's my special interest". you are not immune from falling for misinformation, and you are not immune from sharing misinformation. not to mention the fact that "amount of knowledge" isn't even a requirement for something being classified as a special interest lol!
