its really unfortunate that padme no longer used the body double approach to security after aotc because the concept of the queen of fakeout deaths being married to the guy who loses his shit at the thought of her dying is honestly the wildest fucking thing and i think it's underutilised. let's give anakin a few trial runs before his big breakdown ok. maybe seeing padme getting assassinated live on space tv on a monthly basis will let him microdose on acceptance and inner peace. he can get into a different stage of grief each time and maybe when rots rolls around he will be fine

i'm reading the first boba fett junior novel to a group of three 10-12 year olds who have never had any significant cultural exposure to star wars and it's pretty interesting to see their reactions. so far:

they don't like jango. as one of them sighed in exasperation, "this guy is always so negative!!"

the death of the sea mice got a big reaction from them, even the ones who are trying their very hardest to seem disinterested in any form of non-comic book reading. when the first sea-mouse gets eaten, they were all like, "what? it died?!"

we discussed how authors create tone and i asked them their thoughts on what the tone of the book is so far and their answer was "lonely" :,)

my take about anakin if he got to raise the twins is that after the initial 'im scared to hurt them if i held them', he's just constantly picking them up even when they get older; his back is absolutely fucked by the time he's in his forties; and he still will hug them, and pick them up to swirl around if he's able to get away with it. He's stupidly clingy

but also i imagine he mostly tries to replicate what he remembers shmi doing even if these were very situational things like there's no need for a home-made Wompa-rats repellent lotion, but he sitll does that because he remembers he liked helping shmi making the home-made wompa-rats repellent

i actually have one more thing to say. love saved anakin. love literally saved anakin. the love anakin skywalker had for his wife and subsequently their children, the love luke had for his father, is what saved anakin. it’s what destroyed the dark side. star wars is very much a love story. thanks.
