Psychedelic Experience vs. SSRI

Y’all,

I���ve been talking to a (medical) doctor a while ago regarding the use of psychedelics for depression.

There’s a thing I don’t quite understand: SSRI and psychedelics attach to pretty much the same receptors in the brain. Everyone (including that doctor) tells me that SSRI need to be taken regularly over a (possibly) long period of time to have an impact. On the other hand, there’s psychedelics where studies have shown improvement of depression related symptoms after only one dose.

The doctor went like “there’s so many different things going on and it’s not the same receptors bc why else would you have those hallucinations while on psychedelics and none of these when on SSRI”. Boy, did you ever have these dreams when just having been put on SSRI/SNRI? It’s even in the fine print…

Any thoughts on this?

I’ve had 2 strong acid trips and micro dosed dozens of times with shrooms and acid I wasn’t in a good point in my life I was 17-18 and I’ve only regretted it I’ve been depressed since I was 11 years old I’vs also suffered from major attention issues my whole life

I’m not sure if I gave myself brain damage or not but I feel like I rewired my brain in a negative way and I really don’t know what to do who to talk to I feel really lost really depressed really confused as to what to do to help myself I’m 19 years old and I feel like I fucked myself up I wish I never touched any drugs and I feel like it’s gotten in the way of everything also not sure what community to go to so I just went on this one

My first trip as a youngyin and the realizations I made

I tripped with my bestfriend at our neighborhood park when I was 16. We were a living stereotype. I remember thinking I would have a huge life changing event, like my “ third eye would open”. I would joke a lot ab that anyway. Here were the realizations I had as an insecure unstable 16 year old.

– it’s okay not to speak sometimes. I always felt the need to talk during silent times cause I couldn’t handle the “ awkwardness” but when I was tripping I truly felt peace within silence.

– Your mind really controls your situation. I came up with this because a bunch of skaters came to bother us and we went thru every emotion and feeling with them. At first we thought they were cool then we thought they were boring for ignoring us then we thought they were fine cause we can coexist. Just with every thought, our perspectives as feelings changed entirely.

– I took childhood for granted We saw this little girl w her friends and they let us pet their dog. Seeing how kind this girl was and the excitement in her face made me feel guilt for growing up too fast.

I had so much more that could dive deeper but I just wanted to keep this posy at a decent length

I’m getting the same trip as my boyfriend 3 hours later

Is that normal? I mean like, my boyfriend can say “Wow I have a headache rn” or “I have a weird feeling in my throat, do you?” Ect ect. Can’t really remember everything but yeah he said something he felt at that moment and later, maybe 3-4 hours later, I get the same feeling he told me about earlier. Is that normal? Or why does this happen?

We also get the telepathy thing, almost like we share minds when we are tripping. Is that a thing on LSD?

The War on Drugs is the crux of the misinterpretation of what psychedelics truly are.

They’ve been misunderstood for so long, and we’re finally at a point where we can try to understand what these magical things can do for nature, human beings included.

Just as a disclaimer; I’ve tripped more times than I can count at this point in my life, but I’ve always made sure to use psychedelics in a ritual setting, and I’ve always made sure to be careful on the dose that I’ve taken based on how I feel whenever I trip. (Except for that one time I took 7 grams but that’s a story on its own)

That being said, I just saw The Fantastic Fungi on netflix and MAN… it made me think…

We’re part of nature and play an important role in the development of the world, that much is obvious, but I’ve come to notice that for me, psychedelics paint a picture of how I perceive all of life, not what life should be, but what it is in real time as i’m discovering, how I’m learning from it, and how I’m perceiving it. It gives me a hyper representation of the story of all of life down to the very fundamental aspect of what makes life possible.

Psychedelics paint a picture for me. It tells me a story. The story of us. Us having the power to express thoughts, opinions, art, and capability to create and manipulate things around us to help us survive. It paints a picture of love, hate, compassion, indifference, pride, shame, all of the emotions in-between, how we deal with them, and the consequences of how we deal with those emotions. Finally, it paints a picture of the good, the bad, the ugly, the beauty, and the energy that makes all of it work.

But the most important part in the psychedelic journey, in my opinion, is the message I get from it. Depending on where my mental state is, it can be beautiful or it can be ugly, but what I know for sure, is that everything im feeling makes me human and being a human being is something that I’m truly grateful for and even though I feel the calamity of what it is to be alive (every emotion in my mind) I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I wouldn’t have been able to put into words what I’m feeling deep inside without psychedelics.

I’m doing a radio show at my college about the psychedelic Renaissance. I would love some ideas on topics or advice in general!

I recently started a 30 minute talkshow on my universities radio station. It’s around midday on Fridays. There are many other shows, but I want mine to focus on the war on drugs and the potential to heal alot of cross-cultural derision and trauma through reverence of medicines and the removal of taboo around their use. I know this community has folks who would like to help spread the word. I have this small platform, but I am also taking a full course load and many other extra-curriculars, so I need some help! If users would like I can even shout them out on the station if I quote them directly! Whatever and however you’d like to be credited, if you’d like to be credited, I’m up for it. I just want to start the conversation with my loca community and I know this community will help! Thanks all!

Would u trip at a haunted house?

Okay I’m going to a haunted house this Saturday with some friends and I’ve tripped many times before. I’m not gonna take a full tab,just half. I was thinking tho, what if Im just setting myself for pure failure. Though I feel comfortable in my own mind and always feel in control. I meditate, I eat right, and usually when I trip it’s to gain insight. I’ve tripped a few times “ for fun”, just nothing like this before. I feel pretty good about it, was just wondering if you guys would do it urself.

I have 3.5g of PE and want to have a healing trip

Hi all,

I’ve done Hawaiian PES cubes 4+ and 5+ years ago and had healing trips regarding past traumas (in the past I did 2.5G dosage). Now I’m working on healing some other childhood issues and have been in therapy for 5 years so I’m ready to dive in with the right tools. My Therapist is also aware and agrees I’m ready (although this will be done on my own with my girlfriend trip sitting me in our home).

Here’s my question: I feel I should go a bit more than my regular 2.5g dose and my research shows that PE tend to be 2x to 3x stronger than regular cubes. For those of you who have done regular cubes and PE, do you find this to be true? If so, should I maybe only do 2g of PE? what would that be equivalent to? 4g of regular cubes? 6? Would that be too much for my intent? Should I maybe go 1.75g of PE?
