i frequently think abt how difficult it must be for babies to learn what a dog is. theres so many different shapes and sizes of dog and they're all dog. a chihuahua is dog a greyhound is dog a mastiff is dog. and yet something relatively similar like cat and tiger or sheep and goat is not the same. it seems very unfair.

Today I cried a little bit because I remembered that when Beethoven conducted his ninth symphony for the first time he got a standing ovation and one of the sopranos had to turn him around to see the audience.
#i grew up on the old tv movie#(which is apparently on youtube!#and completely forgot about it until this post started circling#if you've never had a chance to hear the Chorale performed#put on a good pair of headphones#or a beautiful road for a drive#it's about 18 minutes long and glorious
