So happy you live close by too ❤️ . . I hope everyone is holding up ok during this crazy time. It’s still so surreal that this is going on. . . Everyone is being effected, the whole world is changing. Being a small business owner, is hard, but definitely has gotten my mind going on what else I can be doing right now and making sure I’m here for my couples is my top priority. My boyfriend is also in a crazy spot, being a pilot for American. Talk about a job that freaks everyone out right now 🙅🏻‍♀️ lol. We are taking it day by day and are thankful to have work we can still do and really using this time to refocus. It is such an easy thing to get caught up in life and on what isn’t actually the most important. . . If your wedding has been affected by this, I promise you things will work out. I truly believe everything happens for a reason (which is why I have a huge tattoo on my arm saying that) so we just have to look at the good. If you have to elope, or adjust the size of your wedding, all that matters is you two and your love for each other. It is easier said than done and of course I know the couples that had to postpone are devastated, I get that. But try to enjoy this time together and stay positive. . . Let’s take a second to admire this beautiful couple! They have been through a ton just in the past year alone since I have met them, so to see them so happy and so in love and say I do, filled my heart ❤️ . . Serious note now, I have never gone through anything like this Corona virus insanity before, as most of you haven’t... . . I am reaching out to my couples but I’m honestly at a loss of words, and I don’t feel like saying “I’m here for you” holds enough weight. . . People are out of a job, and I’m not going to lie, I’m a small business, so I’m losing money that I was counting on because of weddings being postponed and the restaurant I photograph for being closed. I can’t just sit here and be like yup I’m good, this isn’t affecting me, because it is. However I’m trying to not let money effect my mindset. Not for a single minute will I make any couples or business make it feel like all I care about is money. . . I am 100% here for each of my couples and I hope you all know that. If you need to postpone, I have you covered. I’m going to be posting up a calendar of all my available dates so if you do need to change your wedding date, it will be easy to see my availability! I will be getting that up by Sunday, I’ll make a post so you don’t miss it. . . This time is hard, I am right there with you, but I’m staying positive and I’m trying harder than ever to help others and give back. Ok, I’ll address the corona virus tomorrow. But right now, let’s focus on this moment 😍 . . . Last year I met Joel through video. He has filmed a few weddings for me and he’s honestly just awesome. He reached out months ago asking if I’d like to photograph his proposal and I of course said yes! . . So today was the day. The videographers, @creatiful.co were actually friends of theirs, and acted as if they needed video for a project they were working on, and I was just tagging along to take some photos. So we walked through beautiful lake arrowhead acting like we needed this footage, and at the last spot, Joel dropped to his knee and asked her to marry him ❤️ . . Adeline then of course figured out it was all a set up! We let her know Joel and I have worked together and she laughed because she had said she loved my work but they had stopped following me, and now it makes sense on why lol. . . It’s moments like these, I absolutely love what I do. We all say we capture moments. Heck, my website says live in the moment... and with this photo, it truly represents what I want my brand to be. I’m telling you, CONNECTION WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER IS EVERYTHING!!! . . @thisgurl_syd found me on IG (I cannot wait to photograph and film her wedding this year 🙌🏻🙌🏻,)and before she even booked, we just hit it off! When we finally got an engagement session on the books, she had said to me that she feels like she already knows me. YASSS, that made me so happy! . . I try so hard to communicate and keep up with each of my couples, and her saying that before we met, made me so happy. ***Although when she first saw me she laughed and said I was so short 😂😂 guess I look taller on IG?? I’m 5’2 for anyone wondering haha. Made me laugh and I knew right then it was going to be a good session. . . Today we started off their engagement session with tequila and rebull.. I mean come on, is she my twin or something? And no, you don’t have to drink tequila or red bull for us to connect, don’t think that!! There is more to me than red bull, and I truly enjoy getting to know my couples and what you two love, after all this is about YOU, not me. But for us, that and our dogs is what we really connected over. We had a blast during the session, they were such goofballs and had fun with it and it made my job so easy. . . Have you stopped doing things your way, just to fit in with what others are doing? . . I am so guilty of this!! When I first started photography, I loved off camera flash. I loved trying out new techniques and learning how to manipulate and control light. I would make sure to do night shots every wedding, and I loved it. And of course all reception photos I had multiple flashes set up for dancing. It was just my thing. . . Then I got more experienced and really in the photography world and all the photographers were “natural light” photographers, and I felt like I needed to be that way too in order to succeed. As far as reception goes, I found photographers would just put a flash on the camera and called it a day, so I began to do that too. . . This past year has taught me to be ME! Don’t build your business around what other do. Don’t feel like you have to do things a certain way just because others are doing it. . . . This photo has a flash behind them and one in front slightly off to the side. I knew the photo I wanted to capture and i made it happen. After seeing this photo and the reception photos on my computer, I knew I was getting back to my roots and photographing how I want and not photographing how everyone else does and I’m so happy to start night photos again!!! . . Are engagement photos a must?!? . . I’ve mentioned this before but I LOVE engagement photos. It’s the time for you two to get some awesome photos and in a place that you love. I really enjoy getting to know my couples, have fun goofing off and not worrying about a timeline, and getting you guys comfortable being in front of the camera. . . We can go out for drinks before, you guys can shotgun beers during the session or pop champagne, and I’m all about spending a whole day in Glamis to get every shot that you can think of (yes I spent all day photographing this couple in Glamis.) . . Think outside the box with this session! Be up for rolling around in the sand and laughing your asses off, but of course getting those romantic photos too. This is me about 90% of my life... no not on an airplane, but looking like a hot mess 🤣 anyway... I walked into this year with certain goals, and last month those goals changed. I learned that is ok. We grow as individuals and life and business change and change is good!! I learned I love being in the room, meeting business owners, soaking up as much knowledge as possible, and that I absolutely love working hard to help other people. Sooo, some of you know, but I haven’t spoke too much about it, but I am offering brand videos for business now and will be getting into filming conferences and workshops! I filmed a wedding summit last month, filming their workshop (@hustleandflowofficial) next month, I have 3 branding videos booked so far and I’m beyond excited. I will be filming here in SoCal, Georgia, Chicago, and Ireland! Excited actually doesn’t even begin to cover it!!! I also have other things in the works that will get me traveling more and working on setting up a date to go to New Zealand for a branding video 🙈Crazy how quick things shift! ENGAGEMENT SESSION ARE FUN!!! Yes, they are fun! And I absolutely LOVE photographing them. I’m not the photographer who cuts it off in exactly one hour and makes you not want to be there. I’m up for exploring new spots, grabbing food and a beer before, and really chatting to get to know the two of you. WANTING A WOW FACTOR WHEN YOU ENTER THE RECEPTION?!? . . Most venues don’t allow real sparklers, since we are in California where it is dry and hot! However, there are fake sparklers, and they are just as amazing 🙌🏻🙌🏻 They are fantastic for grand entrances, or even a send off where you can have your friends and family in the photo! Holy cow! This week, as you all know by my IG stories, was so fun and such an amazing experience filming @impactweddingsummit . . You guys got to see the fun stuff, me being in Orlando, the money party, and enjoying filming with talented people from all over the US. What you guys might not have caught or fully took in, was that the last week, I have gotten a max of 4 hours of sleep each night (or morning I guess would be more accurate.) I had a wedding last Saturday, then had to leave for the airport at 3am, from there it was the wedding summit which we shot all day and edited until 5am. Last night i didn’t even go to bed and I slept on the plane back home today 😂... . . We were so non stop that I talked to Brennan on the phone for maybe 2 minutes each of those days. And usually we FaceTime daily but it was almost no communication. Now I’m home and he’s at work. I think we have only slept in the same bed 2 times this month because of how crazy our schedules have been. . . IG makes our life look damn good! But remember that there is a lot behind the scenes and just every day life that you don’t see. I’m trying to make it known to couples how much work we truly put in. NOT COMPLAINING by any means. Shit, the same day we had our retreat, there was a conference going on for trauma surgeons so I will never complain about the work I put in. However I want you to know it is so much more than shooting an 8 hour wedding and being done. . . I have missed the shit out of my dogs and Brennan but when we got together we said our work comes first and what ever we need to do to make it and be successful, we will do, because we know the hard work we put in now will set us up to enjoy life later on. I’m so grateful for the support he gives me and there’s no one I’d rather do life with ❤️ 2020 has been intense and we are only two weeks in! . . I cannot tell my couples enough, laughter is everything ❤️ the more you two have fun and let lose during a session, the more natural or “candid” the photos look. These are YOUR photos. I will pose and help guide you through the session of course, but I want the shoot to pull out your personalities and have your friends be like “yup, these photos totally captures who you two are.” These two danced, had a handshake, and literally laughed the ENTIRE session.
