Did you know that, even today, trans people are often denied access to gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) unless they can obtain authorization from a mental health provider?     Many clinics still operate under the “standard model of care,” creating challenging hoops for trans people to jump through before they can receive the healthcare they need. In other words, this model of care says that trans people cannot consent to receiving hormones for themselves.    

This deep and complicated history is part of what led our founder to start Plume, a virtual healthcare service by trans people, for trans people. We believe that gender-affirming hormone therapy should be treated the same as any other medical treatments. You don’t need a mental health provider’s consent to get a flu shot, diabetes treatment, or to get your appendix removed. Gender-affirming hormone therapy should be treated the same.     Informed consent means we never ask patients to provide authorization from a mental health provider, eliminating up to years of waiting and thousands of dollars in excessive costs. Do you happen to have an FAQ or previously answered question on what brushes / brush settings you use in procreate?

My most commonly used brushes:

6B Pencil

HB Pencil

I use both these pencil brushes for sketching, lines, and even coloring. Mainly 6B for coloring because its a much more large brush ( i used 6B entirely for this piece), but HB is also great for small details and highlights. I will favor one over the other at a time.

other lineart/sketching:

Narinder Pencil (its very specific and doesn't have a taper, its just a round brush, it can make unique things. I used it here.)

Flat Marker (i like the minimal bit of texture on this brush. its easy to work with. I used it here.)

For coloring:

Bonobo Chalk (under Sketching) this is the noise brush I use in tons of my work for coloring. My favorite piece I used noise in.

Gesinski Ink (under Inking) I SOMETIMES use this for lines but its kinda funky. I edit it to have no texture and to be opaque. I love using it for full pieces like this one and for clouds

Nikko Rull (under painting) I use this for coloring. I like that it leaves texture and little empty spots behind. I also sometime use it for clouds/painting like here

Brushes I bought (NOT free with procreate)

Stipple marker in the stipple true grit pack. This one is meant to go with the stipple brush but I found myself using it a lot for non stipple art. I like that it looks kinda like a binary brush but with texture. Super fun to use.

Grainy 4 from Fast Grit. I use this in backgrounds.

Various Lithotone brushes from True Grit's Lithotone pack. My favorites are Grid and Triangles. I strongly recommend this one.
