Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.

One of my friends asked me the other day if I would suck one thousand dicks for a billion dollars, and I love questions like that because not only are they so demonstrative of the no-homo society we live in, but they also show a fundamental lack of understanding that some people have for the value of money. Like, do you realize just how much money one billion dollars is? Do you realize I could live my life in the lap of luxury buying literally everything I could ever want and still have a fortune to leave to my children?? For sucking some dicks?? Masterpost about Justin Kirk's 90s Rock Band "Dimestore Darlings"

Twenty-three year old Justin Kirk was in a rock band called Dimestore Darlings. He was originally in a band called the Beedies that fell apart because his best friend as well as band member had a crush on his girlfriend that she reciprocated. They disbanded in the summer of 1993. Justin and the remaining members of his former band then joined Dimestore Darlings.

In February of 1994, they recorded their first EP Sunrise Semester. Nine months later they recorded and mixed their second titled What Is My, What Is Mo? in a drunk, high, and frenzied 30 hours. The cheap vodka was provided by Justin. In January of 1996, they started working on their final EP Senior Ball: The Spirit of ’96. Each EP has four tracks. Justin sings in four out of twelve tracks and provides backing vocals in the others. He also wrote lyrics for the band.

Around this time, Justin's career as a stage actor was picking up. He was in the (originally off) Broadway show Love! Valour! Compassion! which ran from October 1994 to September 1995. It was later adapted to a film in 1997 with Justin Kirk reprising his role as Bobby. He also starred in the off Broadway play Old Wicked Songs in 1996. There were also complications and career changes in the lives of the other members.

They officially disbanded on October 12, 1996 with their last show in CBGB.

I really recommend reading the biography if you're a fan of Justin Kirk! It has some interesting stories about all the members and what they were like in the 90s.

I particularly love this excerpt:

"Justin and Jay were all atwitter because both had horrible Gibson Sonex guitars (the 180 Deluxe, as Jay reliably informs me), the venerable maker’s sharpest tip in their 1980 nadir; they took this to be some sort of sign of brotherhood. They were wrong. Brotherhood did not stem from shared suspect guitars; it came from the BAND, that verge of adulthood gang-bond, a mortar of audacity, socially acceptable homo-eroticism, naivete, in-jokes, and the indescribable thrill of making a very loud organized noise together."

Why do people find Ben Barnes and Julianne dating so hard to believe 💀 people didn’t even give a fuck when the tabloids were saying she cheated on her husband with him, what kind of benefits could he possibly get from her other than vaginal… and the only thing she’s getting from this is his fans bringing up the numerous problematic or weird shit she’s done.
