okay when I first read the burning maze I was upset jason died outside of his own series for what seemed like such a pointless venture. it seemed especially cruel considering the fact that the prophecy of seven doomed someone to die and leo managed to come back. but now .. it makes sense.

to storm or fire the world must fall. leo or jason had to die. that was the prophecy. leo was clever and he thought he could outwit it. he found a way to die and come back, but you can’t avoid prophecies. we’ve known that since the lightning thief. trying to change fate only leads to more misery later on. so leo didn’t realize but by trying to cheat the prophecy and coming back to life, he was dooming jason. they never got to reunite, instead they exchanged places.

leo got to survive but jason died. an oath to keep with a final breath. it wasn’t the oath to calypso after all. jason made apollo promise to remember what it was like to be human when he went back to the gods. that was the oath.

poor jason. it’s legit so tragic, that after everything he went through he died like that on what was almost a side adventure. but I guess that’s the point. death doesn’t wait for the perfect moment. it just kills heroes, young and noble and tragic

Have we considered that the reason Annabeth hates being blonde so much is because people already assume she’s stupid because of her learning disabilities? 

Learning and school are so important to her, but they are hard. She likely gets condescended to by teachers, gets bad grades, disappoints teachers ect, and just wants people to understand that she is trying as hard as she can. She is working hard, she does care, she’s not lazy, she’s not stupid, her brain just doesn’t work the way it’s suppose to. Being blonde doesn’t help that people assume she is just stupid. It’s frustrating.  

I’m not suggesting that Annabeth is oppressed for being blonde to any extent, but I think that her blonde-ness + her learning disabilities can lead to people assuming she’s a “dumb blonde” or a lazy, thoughtless student, not a student who really cares and is working as hard as she can.

Omg yes... And Annabeth who got this very cringe scene where Piper had to rescue her because Annabeth turned into a... robot who couldn't comprehend feelings and instinct? for some reason 🤔 and just relied on pure logic? But remember that Annabeth is actually pretty impulsive and emotional but she just hides it because she's afraid of people betraying her and turning back on her honest feelings.

Thinking about the fact that the PJO characters in HoO were based purely on fandom interpretations of the characters rather than how they were in the original series

Crazy to think they're going to get backlash for casting an actor with the same skin colour that the character has in the books.

I’m just going to say it—I better not see anyone in this fandom shitting on whoever gets casted as Percy solely based on his looks. He’s already going to get enough criticism as it is. If he’s poc, he’ll get backlash. If he’s white, he’ll get backlash. He shouldn’t get ANY backlash, but the Internet has zero critical thinking skills. Whatever happens, please please remember it is not the poor boy’s fault for being chosen for the role, and aim any complaints at those ACTUALLY in charge.
