"Lakes in Uttarakhand"

-Dodital lake -

Dodital is said to be the birth place of Lord Ganesh, and is also the source of the Assi Ganga, a tributary to the Bhagirathi. It is named after the rare Dodi (Himalayan Trout) that can be found in this lake.

A moderate trek which starts from the Bhagirathi valley, goes up to the lake of Dodital (wrapped in perfect wilderness) to the alpine meadows and tops out at Darwa Pass (4150m).

Yog dhyan badri temple

-Temples In Uttarakhand-

The Yogdhyan Badri Temple is as old as the temple of Badrinath. Pandukeshwar is 24 kms from Joshimath , it has the Yogdhyan Badri temple one of the panch badri .

According to the myth, the Pandavas made over Hastinapur to Raja Parikshit and retired here.

Also king Pandu, the father of Pandavas had spent his last days doing penance here before his Nirvana, and hence the name. Some famous copper plate carrying old inscriptions,

providing valuable information on the history of the temple and early Katyuri Rajas have been found here.

The surrounding region is Panchal Desh better known as UttarKhand. Suryakund , which is on the top of Milam glacier, is a hot water spring.

Here Kunti is said to have given birth to Karna, fathered by Surya. Pandu married Kunti at Pandukeshwar near Sri Badrinath.

महासु देवता मंदिर

"उत्तराखंड के प्रमुख मंदिरों के दर्शन"

प्रकृति की गोद में बसा एक प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है 'महासू देवता'।

दिलचस्प है कि यहां हर साल दिल्ली से राष्ट्रपति भवन की ओर से नमक भेंट किया जाता है। मिश्रित शैली की स्थापत्य कला को संजोए यह मंदिर देहरादून से 190 किमी और मसूरी से 156 किमी दूर है। यह मंदिर चकराता के पास हनोल गांव में टोंस नदी के पूर्वी तकट पर स्थित है।

महासू देवता के मंदिर के गर्भ गृह में भक्तों का जाना मना है। केवल मंदिर का पुजारी ही मंदिर में प्रवेश कर सकता है। यह बात आज भी रहस्य है। मंदिर में हमेशा एक ज्योति जलती रहती है जो दशकों से जल रही है।

मंदिर के गर्भ गृह में पानी की एक धारा भी निकलती है, लेकिन वह कहां जाती है, कहां से निकलती है यह अज्ञात है।

दरअसल 'महासू देवता' एक नहीं चार देवताओं का सामूहिक नाम है और स्थानीय भाषा में महासू शब्द 'महाशिव' का अपभ्रंश है। चारों महासू भाइयों के नाम बासिक महासू, पबासिक महासू, बूठिया मह��सू (बौठा महासू) और चालदा महासू है, जो कि भगवान शिव के ही रूप हैं।

उत्तराखण्ड के उत्तरकाशी, संपूर्ण जौनसार-बावर क्षेत्र, रंवाई परगना के साथ साथ हिमाचल प्रदेश के सिरमौर, सोलन, शिमला, बिशैहर और जुब्बल तक महासू देवता की पूजा होती है।

यह मंदिर 9वीं शताब्दी में बनाया गया था। वर्तमान में यह मंदिर पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण विभाग (एएसआई) के संरक्षण में है। महासू देवता भगवान भोलेनाथ के रूप हैं। मान्यता भी है कि महासू ने किसी शर्त पर हनोल का यह मंदिर जीता था। महासू देवता जौनसार बावर, हिमाचल प्रदेश और उत्तराखंड के ईष्ट देव हैं।

Jai tarkeshwar dham

देवभूमि उत्तराखंड की पावन भूमि पर ढेर सारे पावन मंदिर और स्थल हैं। उत्तराखंड को महादेव शिव की तपस्थली भी कहा जाता है। भगवान शिव इसी धरा पर निवास करते हैं। इसी जगह पर भगवान शिव का एक मंदिर बेहद ही खूबसूरत जगह पर मौजूद है और वह है ताड़केश्वर भगवान का मंदिर।

मान्यता है कि इस मंदिर में मांगी गई हर मन्नत भगवान पूरी करते हैं। यहां हर साल लाखों श्रद्धालु न केवल देश से बल्कि विदेशों से भी आते हैं।

पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, ताड़कासुर नामक राक्षस ने भगवान शिव से अमरता का वरदान प्राप्त करने के लिए इसी स्थान पर तपस्या की थी। शिवजी से वरदान पाकर ताड़कासुर अत्याचारी हो गया। परेशान होकर देवताओं और ऋषियों से भगवान शिव से प्रार्थन की और ताड़कासुर का अंत करने के लिए कहा।

ताड़कसुर का अंत केवल भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती का पुत्र कार्तिकेय कर सकते थे। भगवान शिव के आदेश पर कार्तिकेय ताड़कासुर से युद्ध करने पहुंच जाते हैं। अपना अंत नजदीक जानकर ताड़कासुर भगवान शिव से क्षमा मांगता है।

भोलेनाथ असुरराज ताड़कासुर को क्षमा कर देते हैं और वरदान देते हैं कि कलयुग में इस स्थान पर मेरी पूजा तुम्हारे नाम से होगी इसलिए असुरराज ताड़कासुर के नाम से यहां भगवान भोलेनाथ ताड़केश्वर कहलाते हैं।

एक अन्य दंतकथा भी यहां प्रसिद्ध है। एक साधु यहां रहते थे जो आस-पास के पशु पक्षियों को सताने वाले को ताड़ते यानी दंड देते थे। इनके नाम से यह मंदिर ��ाड़केश्वर के नाम से जाना गया।

Hidimba devi temple, himachal

Located amidst the snow-covered hills of Manali, the Hadimba Temple is a unique shrine dedicated to Hidimba Devi, who was the wife of Bhima and mother of Ghatothkach.

Surrounded by gorgeous cedar forests, this beautiful shrine is built on a rock which is believed to be in the image of goddess Hidimba herself.

Locally known as Dhungari Temple, the construction style of the Hidimba Devi temple is entirely different from that of any of the other temples, with its wooden doorways, walls, and cone-shaped roof. This temple is a fitting dedication to its presiding deity Hadimba.
