What a difference 8 years makes. Ever since we got Covid back in February it’s been bonkers bananas and our whole world has turned upside down. Beyond the horrible parts and the isolation and frustration, it’s been a challenge to find balance. Especially between those of us that have had it, and know how horrible it’s is and how and lucky we are, and those that are trying to not get sick but still keep it moving. A lot of adaptations have had to occur. The main one for me is being my own #accountabilibuddy about training and keeping it moving. The compromise to keep it moving that I’ve found for myself is to think of breaking up my day into various fitness ‘snacks’. Set of push ups here, crunches there, handstand here, backbend there, pull up set here, oversplit there. Keeping it moving keeps my spirits up. Also reminds me that I’m not a failure and gives me gratitude for the meat suit that I’ve been gifted with. Stay the course, kids. Keep fighting the fight. Keep loving each other. My super supportive, yet amazingly unhelpful assistant, #CocoTheFloof, noticed that I was struggling with untangling some cords, but that my bangs were exceptionally well lit, so we had an impromptu photo shoot. I’ve been sequestered in my compartment/ habitat/ the west wing of the family compound all day & FINALLY got to sorting through paperwork that I brought with me FROM NEW YORK TWO MONTHS AGO, so I decided to post this wannabe #thirsttrap picture of me looking as content as I could, despite there being a unicorn shaped dent missing on the other side of the mattress. 🐼😗🦄 I Hope everyone is getting a chance to do some adulting and purging and getting the excess paperwork and clutter out of their lives. Once the #QuarentenaSong from @las_cardachians stopped playing on a loop in my head in my bed, it was a whole lot easier to pull out the lead and get to my pseudo-adulting. Lol. Happy hunting kids! I miss this lady, @shorecircus, and I miss this space, @brooklynzoony, but most of all I just miss that no matter how much consistency I had in my #circus #training, I also never new what new #surprises and #challenges I would get presented with each day with such a cool #melange of different kinds of #disciplines and #artists all converging in that space. I miss Donna’s never ending #patience and #creativity with keeping us all moving and #inspired. Also, don’t tell them, but I miss the never ending slew of practical jokes from @geronimojr and @bornupsidedown. They really are the big brother and bratty little sister I never wanted. Goodness. While we’re throwing back our Thursdays, here’s another gem from that one time we shared a dressing room with none other than the #NicoleKidman of Puerto Rico, Miss #TammiBrown, for another @billyfrancesca fantasy at Fubar. This was pre- #DragRace and we were all just a bunch of good time hoodlums... er... I mean... Highly trained and sought after, professionally elegant, poised, opulent (#oppalence?) and yet somehow always understated, (but NEVER under appreciated 💗) entertainers, dressing up and putting on a show. Methinks this was #DanceBitch. Tammi was a treasure and a pleasure and that party every week was by far the most fun I ever had in LA. Billy is an icon and I don’t know how she hasn’t gotten a #lifetimeachievementaward. Lord knows she’s old enough for one. Christ on a cracker now THIS is a #TBT. Some of the ORIGINAL #RideOrDie #PandaPosse. 🤣 This is like 7 years ago. Don’t quote me, but I’m fairly certain @pantsofsam took this picture. I don’t even know how we stacked this, but I feel like Sam literally picked Mari up and put her on us. Hahaha. Those were some days. We used to all go to ShanEquinox, thanks to @marknelsoninc. That was my favourite place to stretch. Their floor was this weird squishy slash grippy fantasy and it was always fun no matter how hard we were working. You never knew who you’d bump into in the #WeHo location. Alexander Skarsgård. Fabio. Chuukey. @simon_says___ @gtdave3. Hahaha. I’ve forgotten most everyone’s handles. I think I did enough cardio there with @emiliegoldblum that we could have run several marathons. We used to do 2-4 miles a day 4 or 5 days a week depending on how motivated we were or how much conversation we got into. 😂 Those days were so bizarrely stressful, yet carefree. Our biggest problem was what we were gonna wear gogo-ing @billyfrancesca’s next shindig, (#liptickler? #dancebitch? #glitterbox!) or where TF I was going to find another blond muscle twunk to cast as another Cupid for #CupidStupid. I’m so happy for the people that I’ve come across on my journey. And even happier to watch their successes and growth and see them really come into their happiness. For all the struggles, I will always have fond memories of LA. So as was foretold in the prophecy, my cousin Moose had his birthday on seis de mayo, again, and his bad ass wife sent me a tutorial on choreo that I needed to do for a virtual flash mob & it was a whole thing because then I freaked out about the logistics. Was I going to have enough time for blocking? When was I gonna get the best natural light? I only have a minor drag bag. What was I gonna wear?! Was I supposed to mirror the choreography or reverse it?! THESE ARE THE PRODUCTION QUESTIONS RAGING THROUGH MY MIND. In the end I don’t think I actually did an 8 count of anything and relied upon my old basic ass circus parlour tricks to get through the freestyle portion of the pageant, but this was HIGH STRESS. All of my 17 year old auditioning insecurities all came BUBBLING to the surface and I just had fun with it. Luckily the HAM runs strong on our side of the family. My lovely assistant #CocoThePup came to help me and we got it in one, so there’s that at least. Even in quarantine I live in mortal fear of holding up production. Anywhoo. This is what happened. So according to the vicious rumour I just started Kristen and I are working on our new routine at the Brooklyn Zoo, but alas, this is just a pipe dream and this is video from LITERALLY the last day we went out in public. At least we dusted off some cute #RG nerdery. The cool thing about being a giant dude who does #RhythmicGymnastics is that I know how ribbons work and where they’re gonna go, but I also am down for a dwarf toss/ heifer heft (I kid, Kristen is tall and skinty. I could never. 😹) I’m just glad that we freaking did it, because it felt like a taste of things to come and now we know that it’s in our realm of possibility. Not sure what day it is but we’re just gonna run with #TBT. Here’s an oldie but goldie of the good old days of the #GoldenAgeOfGogoDancing in West Hollywood. (Seriously. I remember one time that I walked out of #BFD one night with $800. Thank god for rich old men and euro trash tourists that couldn’t tell the denominations apart because all our money is the same colour. 😛 But I digress) This picture was a side moment of when @willam asked us to be in his #LoveYouLikeABigSchlong music video. We really had so much fun. All filmed on location at Belli Manor/ Willam’s Wig Emporium (for real tho. She had a wig wing in her house. It’s was fabulous.) I forgot if Mathieu directed or just beat her mug, or if I’m imagining that, but it all was such a delightful moment. It was just a group of friends dressing each other up (or down 😂) and being silly and helping make a music video together. It was one of my favourite memories of living in LA, and I’ve still managed to stay friends with these two fools thousands of years later. Every so often I will get a text message from someone asking, “Are you in a music video with #willam wearing a sombrero?”. That time I did #aerial in a #malerevue strip show before #MagicMike was MagicMike. @grasshoppernyc my witness. The whole experience was actually really fun & super silly to me on the inside even tho we all took it super seriously on the outside. The producer had me perform to #Rihanna #Diamonds & I thought it was super cheesy, but then when I actually did it, it was awesome & actually seemed to give our little show a feeling of artistic credibility. The rest of the guys were straight lunk meatheads and super sweet. You can’t see their faces in this picture, but that’s what I was spotting and they were priceless. I’ve always found it droll how much importance people put on what meat suit you have before bothering to find out what is going on between your ears, but if I can make people smile with either, I think I’m doing alright. Fun Fact: I had to figure out how to take off a tank top one handed and upside down 30ft in the air. So that’s one of my special skills now. The trick is to use. Your opposite hand to pull the armpit over your elbow.
