what do you think about the theory that koopa courting traditions are different from…well…normal courting? ive seen that get thrown around to explain why bowser is genuinely baffled that his evil behavior doesn’t win peach over lol

As fun as it is to think up headcanons about the intricacies of Koopa courting, the thing is... Bowser wasn't baffled. He knew that Peach hated him from the get-go, and though part of him hoped she would go along with his advances willingly, he was prepared with a backup plan when she turned him down.

The situation with the wedding sacrifices? I'm certain that wasn't a miscommunication, nor was it a sincere attempt to show affection, that was definitely a power play to make sure Peach regretted defying him in the first place.

Bowser was only truly baffled when Peach continued to fight against him mid-ceremony despite him holding her kingdom at veritable gunpoint.
