Cloud hated it here. He hated everyone who came near him with needles, and tests. It never ended. It was agonizing, and when they weren’t poking and prodding him, they watched him. It was uncomfortable. He hated it. Cloud wanted it to stop, but he could never do anything to stop them. He was wanting to leave. He wanted to just get out. Cloud always felt uncomfortable here.
When the door opened, he tensed. He stared at the person who walked in, a slightly pained, but wary look. When could he get a break? The man was new, which meant that he didn’t know how cruel the man could be. Cloud couldn’t do anything about it. He stayed sitting, putting himself in the center of the cage. He was trying to distance himself from each edge. Cloud wanted it to end, yet there was nothing he could do.
He frowned, still staring. He clenched his hands into fists, looking human for now. Until he may be forced to shift, but he was biding his time. His nails dug into the palm of his hand, trying his best to keep some level of self control. Cloud didn’t want to admit it, but he was scared. He was at the mercy of their cruel hands. The fact that he didn’t even know the guy made it worse. If it were the ones he was used to, then he’d know what would happen.
But, now, it was a new guy. Cloud didn’t know if he could be cruel, or if he could be kind, but he wasn’t expecting it. He sighed quietly, tired of it all. He was silent, staring at the scientist. Cloud was trying to figure him out. He was a scientist, which automatically meant a bad thing. Why would they keep him here? Cloud didn’t know what to think. So instead, he just watched him, making sure he didn’t get too close.
{ ♪ } — For a few moments, Aeron took the time to study his new test subject. Cloud was a young man with unruly looking blonde hair that seemed to spike in all directions. He was on the thin side, which was to be expected since he had been a subject for quite some time. They didn't always take care of their subjects very well, he had noticed. It wasn't something he was happy about, but he was now deciding that he could change that (at least, for his subject he could. He couldn't say anything about his colleagues).
From his experience working, he knew that their subjects often expected to be treated cruelly. Aeron didn't always believe in treating beast in a horrible manner, but from his past experience with a few he knew that it was sometimes necessary. He almost shuddered at the memory of the beast he once countered in the past. The ones here were timid when it came to being experimented on for so long. They were once first, but that was no longer true once they were stuck in a cage every single day of their life.
Elena...
These beast deserve what's coming to them. It's their fault for treating you cruelly.
He crouched in front of the cage, getting level with the man that lay inside. Brown eyes silently studying the creature that sat before him, as if intrigued to what he might be, taking in every feature and every emotion that he held.
Words were soft spoken, unlike other scientist who often shouted at the creatures that they tested on. He spoke as if he was not afraid to, but also spoke as if he wanted no one to hear his voice.

————— The supernatural testing in Elyria had gone farther than he had ever expected. Not that he was one to complain, of course.
{ ♪ } — Aeron was an honest man. He was a man of trust, pride, and strength. It was not so easily he made friends, but he had a good head on his shoulders, a roof over his head, and a job that paid well. Not to mention that he had recently gotten promoted from said job. Now instead of being a simple researcher, he got to work with the supernatural creatures. The job he had just gained was considered to be one of the best of its rank, and a job that many people strived to go for if they had his profession. He hadn't been striving for it, simply doing his best with what job he had until he went from one promotion to the next.
{ ♪ } — The blonde male pulled on his white labcoat as he hurried through the hallways. First day on the job and he was almost late. Almost was the keyword here, as he was doing his best not to be. Hot coffee almost spilled onto the white gloves he was required to wear during testing as he rushed down the hallway to the experimentation room. He cursed slightly under his breath, shaking away a few droplets as he approached the door. Just as the clock struck 7am he clocked in. I have to be sure not to sleep in next time.
{ ♪ } — Tucking away the keycard he had used not only to clock in but to also open the door, he stepped inside the room. Yesterday he had chosen what creature he would be experimenting on for the day. If they went well he could continue to work with the creature. And if he didn't like it, he could either put it down or send for another one. He was not completely cruel, and thus he had the mindset that he would be trying his best to get along with the creature he was now going to experiment with. Brown eyes settled on the creature that sat inside the cage in the center of the room.

He momentarily glanced at Cloud, a brow quirked beneath his golden bangs. Why was he wanting to sleep so badly? He understood that it was tiring, but could he not wait?
Cloud didn’t like that response. He wanted to leave, to sleep. Yet, he was stuck here. He sighed, “Well. I guess I’ll just have to deal with it then.”

{ ♪ } — Footsteps dragged him along as he walked across the pathway. Where he was, he didn't know. He didn't care by this point. Everything he had fought for was gone. So why continue to fight and live on? He didn't know what was driving him. Perhaps it was the crazed feelings that spun in his head, telling him to keep moving. To keep moving and living for her. If he stopped walking to rest he was worried he was never going to give up. He was worried he was going to give up completely if he sat down.

{ ♪ } — Even as he walked, even as he thought, the lyrics still echoed in his mind. The song he had so often heard her singing into the distance towards the towers when she stood outside. The lyrics she sung reaching the far depths of his heart and bringing a hope to the looming terror that was above them all.
Far beyond the dawn light glimmers Illuminating our blessed, bountiful earth The great mother of us all
{ ♪ } — And at last when the dark began to spread he found he could no longer keep moving. His legs, which had been in use for so long, were too weary and numb to keep him moving. Blonde lashes brushed against his bangs as he let his knees buckle, the warrior falling to the ground as his eyes closed. Perhaps if he just let them stay shut for a bit he could get a moments rest, could return to a dream where nothing had gone wrong. Perhaps he could dream of a better world.
A world without Elena was a world he didn't want to live in.
