It’s been a known fact that in Fire Emblem Three Houses, Silver Snow/the Church Route was the first route written and originally the only one planned before the other three paths were made. Assuming the overarching story is about the same, I have a theory about how the narrative would’ve gone.
Byleth gets picked up by the church and becomes a teacher at the monastery. The academy phase will go more or less the same, just that you can’t choose houses and are just stuck with the Black Eagles. I can’t say how involved the Lions and Deer cast are, because outside the two training missions and npc color commentary they don’t do much for the first half. For the sake of simplicity I’d say the Lions and Deer still exist, but the rosters are cut down and used mostly for setting up characters for later recruitment, something I’ll get to later. As much as I love them, Marianne and Raphael hold no real role in the narrative.
We do the story as is. Lonato’s rebellion is quashed (he is still related to Ashe). Sylvain’s brother is dealt with (the fact that they’re related is dependent on if Sylvain is in this version of the game). We’re introduced to the Death Knight, Flame Emperor, TWSITD, you get the Sword of the Creator, Flayn is rescued and recruited, Rhea is shady, Jeralt dies.
We get to the part where Edie is revealed to be the FE. We can’t side with her in this version of the game, she and Hubert leave to be bad guys, and in exchange we get Seteth, Catherine, Cyril, and Shamir (who actually is automatically recruited in SS at this point if you don’t already have her, but not Alois for some reason). We go fight the war.
The only students that appear in post-time skip SS other than Edie and Hubert are Lorenz and Ashe, who are both optional recruits. I believe the original version of 3H would follow the traditional fire emblem formula of increasing the roster gradually over the course of the game. We get Flayn, Seteth, Catherine, Cyril, and Shamir this way, with Ashe and Lorenz being the optional “recruit the enemy” deal. As well, given Dorothea, Ferdinand, Linhardt, Caspar, Shamir, and Cyril’s paralouges, we can assume that Ingrid, Lysithea, Leonie, Mercedes, Alois, and Hilda would’ve been picked up at some point in the story.
So I theorize the army recruitment in original would go like this:
Black Eagles (Edelgard, Hubert, Ferdinand, Linhardt, Caspar, Dorothea, Petra, Bernadetta)
Flayn joins after rescuing her
Ingrid is recruited, potentially from Dorothea’s paralouge
Leonie and Alois are recruited. Narratively it makes the most sense from them to join after Jeralt’s death. Because of how they’re current recruitment works, I see Leonie first then Alois, who would be optional
Edie declares war, you lose her and Hubert
You get Catherine, Cyril, and Shamir. At this point you can do Catherine and Cyril’s respective paralouges, getting Hilda as an optional recruit
You can pick up Ashe and Lorenz after you defeat them in their respective chapters
Lysithea and Mercedes placement is difficult. The two best choices is either you get them over the course of the academy phase along with Flayn, Ingrid, and Leonie, or during their respective paralouges
I can see grabbing Dedue during the final attack on Edelgard if you help him out. Really the only difference is that he sticks around for the last two chapters
As for everyone else, either their minor background characters or they’re just not in the game. Really the only other character that holds any narrative weight would be Dimitri and Sylvain (Claude and the alliance as a whole can easily be written out, have House Gonreil, Ordelia, and Leonie’s village be in the Empire or Kingdom).
And there we go, original Three Houses (probably be called something different, Fire Emblem: Silver Snow)

Do you have proof Patrick Seitz didn't like Rhea? I've seen this said a lot but never any actual proof. Not trying to be confrontational, I'd just like receipts if there are any!
wish i had them nonnie. i checked but i don’t have a link in my files. though there is an interview with cherami leigh where she talks about voicing rhea and makes mention of the directions given to her. once again, i don’t have the link, but you’ll find it if you search for it. i don’t keep up with the voice actors or treehouses much. i think i actually have most of them blocked on twitter lmao

I haven't played FEH in ages so I may be out of the loop here, but did they really just spend Dedue's entire forging bonds being sad about how he's fighting poor Edelgard??? they did my boy dirty 😔
It's better worse !
First he's compared to a Feral Laguz with all the, honestly, deranged implications it has, then the lads worry about his health and ask him why he's willing to sacrifice himself, apparently, it's for the sake of Dimitri's ideals!
And for them to suceed, he has to fight the ones who threatens Dimitri, aka Supreme Leader "but isn't she your former classmate? How can you fight against your fwend ???" very sad uwus
Because :
"Fate has led to this"
Ultimately, Sothe and Tormod pull the valid point that, uh, Dimitri would never want Dedue to sacrifice himself for his sake, so why don't they escape together, to make sure they both survive????
The conversation ends with the pointlessness of sacrifice, and how it's so sad Dedue feels has to sacrifice himself even if Dimitri wants him to live, with Tormod basically calling Dedue a "fool" because he wants to save him!
If only Fate von Hresvelg never set her shiny boots in Faerghus deadset on killing the King and invading the land, the entire situation would have been avoided and Dedue would never had to sacrifice himself!
But we can't have that, instead, Tormod and Sothe are very sad for Dedue because he has to fight against his former classemate, y'know, the one who tried to kill his beloved Lord in the prologue, who set a serial killer at school, whose consorts transformed people in demonic beasts and who, ultimately, launched her army at school, before declaring her war of unification - and let's not even talk about how in certain routes she legit said she dgaf about the genocide her consorts orchestrated that led Dedue to lose his family and people.
It's not like he expresses any sadness at having to fight our glorious Supreme Leader, friend of Sharena, nope - but the game dances again around the context of "Fallen!Dedue" and never bothers to explain why he has to transform.
It's just "fate" or "but she's your classmate" or "but she's my friend too you can't kill her".
And I thought Sothis textually not giving any fucks about Rhea's truckload of issues was the worst FEH could have done to the Fodlanverse, I was mistaken!

ooooo i know the gacha is a questionable source but this part of dedue's new alt....
The people of Duscur never forget their grudges. And more so, they never fail to honor favors...
i noticed duscur people canonly have some kind of cultural belief around repaying debts (in dedue's paralogue one of the NPCs makes reference to it) so i was wondering if this was part of dedue's whole deal.... gacha implies that is in fact the case with dedue! adds another layer to his dynamic with dimitri, especially pre TS.
i'm not a thick i know dedue getting written out of the back half of AM wasn't for any good reasons... but i like that it gives dedue more agency. his debt was repaid, which means he has no reason to return ...except he wants to be here and be involved,

Hey, this is me, bothering you with questions.
What do you think of Raphael and Bernadetta's support together?
It's pretty great from start to finish and its one of the best pairings in the game. It gets an 11/10 from me.
I quickly read all of Bernadetta's supports and he's the only one who respects her boundaries and properly helps her overcome her aversion to people.
The only other supports that try to tackle it is Ferdinand and Ingrid, the former threatening her with force to which Bernadetta retaliates to by pushing him away and Ingrid by breaking her door and dragging her against her will. Ferdinand atleast apologizes for his behavior, takes full responsibility and they both properly move on from this. Ingrid doesn't.
This is another great example that Raphael is smarter than he's perceived as and can pick up social and emotional cues better than even the more smarter characters.

Why are FE fans so toxic and hostile to Fates story fans or anyone with 'wrong opinions' on gameplay or story, in possibly the most subjectively-driven JRPG series on the market?
What gets me is how they try to enforce this idea of an absolute consensus and that anyone who questions it or sees it differently is to be excluded, and I have no idea imagining what motivates that kind of zero-sum thinking other than a deeply immature fandom. What do you think?
On the whole I think it's less so that most FE fans are toxic themselves, but most are quite apathetic to the very loud minority of actually immature and rude people, therefore it comes across as a much bigger issue than it would be otherwise.
Like, yes, it's still a small number of people making mean comments, but in combination with sites like Reddit that encourage mini popularity contests, the fact that believing Fates' story is irredeemable garbage is only a moderately exaggerated widely held belief means that often the side in favor of bashing the game's writing has more soft support.
That said, part of what matters is approaching it in the first place, which has its pros and cons. Obviously there's a short term rush from trolling people who clearly take things seriously on a conditional/subjective basis, but that comes at the cost at people not giving you the time of day going forward.
Approaching the issue with a blanker slate theoretically means less hostility, but in practice (at least for me), you start to run into the incredibly bull-headed group of people who are immovably within the camp that Fates was written badly and no kind of interpretation can save it. They'll say it nicely, but it's still effectively a proud admission that some plots aren't worthy of their engagement for one reason or another.
I've fallen off on interacting with the FE fandom on anything other than here, mainly because of the sense of, like, "definitive consensus" on what makes a quality game in the series becoming rampant and suffocating, that any uncommon belief or theory that wasn't in the specifically designated "hot takes" threads or whatnot, were met with nonchalant "man if only this was done better in [X] way" or "[Y] character deserved to be in a better game" and blah blah blah.
Needless to say, it's been pretty chill not feeling the need to really interact with the main big boys in other forums anymore.

Like I know downplaying or erasing the experiences of bi/multiracial people is sadly normally just about everywhere, but...
Claude is biracial. He is the result of an interracial relationship between a white character and a POC. But shipping him with white characters is still racist somehow? That's some real horseshoe theory there, being so anti-racist you wrap back around to being anti-miscegenation.

You know how I can tell the "think of the sapphics!" takes on this blog have little to nothing to do with actual wlw representation and everything to do with propping up F!Edeleth in a shipping war? Because there are so many other sapphic ships this fandom has come up with and made popular in their own right, and yet you only ever see one of three things happen to them.
they get sidelined and are allowed to exist in their own little corners where they're never brought up except to "prove" that the BEs are the one and only place for lesbians (Doropetra, Dorogrid, F!Doroleth, Edelthea, Monigard, any gay Bernadetta ship, also Edelmanuela and Doromanuela)
they're flat out ignored because they're not with the BE and so disrupt the narrative that they're the gay house (Cathmir, Marihilda, Anncedes, F!Mercieleth)
they're bashed to hell and back because they involve Rhea who the pro-Edeleth side of the fandom has long since decided is a Bad Person (F!Rhealeth, Cathrhea)
Say whatever you want about mlm shippers in this fandom, but at least no one ship dominates over all the others. Sylvix and to a lesser extent Ferdibert have the biggest numbers, but Dimilix, Dimidue, Dedueashe, Dimiclaude, M!Dimileth, Claurenz, Caspardt, and more all feel like they get their fair share of love from fans plus or minus a few inevitable ship wars.

cutie alert cutie alert i designed annette a lil dress to wear to the ball :3 tbh i started this entire series specifically because i wanted to draw her in particular in smth poofy and pretty so. HERE SHE ISSSS at long last
so to get ready for the ball i imagine annette and mercedes went on a shopping trip together and dragged ingrid along bc. of course they did lol. and this dress was just like CALLING OUT to annette so hard like you cant even believe. BECAUSE LIKE ITS EXACTLY HER STYLE and it was probably expensive but like once she saw it she just knew she had to have it.
i think she matched the flowers on the dress to one of the flowers she saw in the greenhouse and that’s the one she has in her hair. when felix saw the finished look after everyone got ready in sylvain’s room he got all like 😳😳😳 you look good,,,, and so annette gve him a flower to wear in his hair to match her and so he did and it was super cute :3
i think annette is definitely used to balls since she grew up in fhirdiad and her father was so entrenched with the royal family. she loves the whole affair she loves dressing up and dancing and meeting people and it’s just a fun time. it’s bittersweet for her because this is the first ball she’s been to without being able to share a dance with her father (he didn’t attend, too busy wallowing in misery), but also her first one spent as a proper young lady instead of being at the “kids’ table” so to speak.
also im not sure where else to put this so i’ll just add it here: there’s no way that annette didn’t meet dimitri at LEAST once as a child. surely gilbert brought her along AT LEAST ONCE so she could see what her papa was up to all the time, ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE WAS AROUND THE PRINCE’S AGE. i just think the cutesy sibling dynamic that dimitri and annette couldve had is so so good and i wish they actually would’ve gotten to have it because both of them being only children and annette’s father just choosing to parent dimitri instead of his own daughter is so saddddddd agh fuck gilbert.
Tumblr media
updated lineup, ONLY ONE LION LEFT!!!!! sadly it happens to be my least favorite one (and my least favorite character in the entire game) but i’ll try to keep the ingrid hate in that post to a minimum. wish me luck lmao

Dimitri and Rhea breaching Leicester's sovereignty and trying to steal Leicester's territory is contrived and bad writing at its finest. It solely exist to have every factions have their own civil wars and shoehorn a poor excuse for Claude to side with Edelgard willingly.
They'd risk making an enemy out of Leicester over small territories when they it's far easier and beneficial to strike a pact with Leicester and get their full cooperation considering all 3 factions have a mutual enemy.
Dimitri's only goal is punishing the Agarthans and protecting his kingdom. Rhea's only concern is reviving her mother and protecting Fodlan. None of these goals require stealing Leicester's minor territories.
Claude and Dimitri distrust eachother heavily despite their goals being aligned with eachother and yet Claude conviently trusts a mass murdering and callous conqueror like Edelgard to stop waging war and stop conquering Fodlan for herself despite the fact she has shown no sign of remorse nor change.
Claude willingly chooses Edelgard over Dimitri because he's still under the delusion that Rhea is violently against change.
Not to mention this whole entire mess if the 3 lords defecting could've easily been avoided had Claude listened to Shez and made the federation a temporary change for times of war exclusively. No lord would lose their individual power over their territory and be compelled to defect to better places.
If the writer's wanted to make a story where Rhea is violently against change and Edelgard is a logical ally for Claude then they shouldn't have shown the exact opposite in quality and quantity.

idc what anyone says, I'm hype for Mario Kart World 🥳
I was dying to draw some of the characters in their new outfits after watching the Direct, I have no idea what the inside of Yoshi's diner looks like but I just imagined it being like a classic fast food joint. Perfect place for a fast food dinner date :P

I think Dimiclaude fans need to start fighting back or something. Because of one Dimiclaudeleth fic that treats Edelgard poorly, those specific fans of her assume that Dimiclaude shippers are misogynistic fujoshis who are out to get Edelgard. They’re frequently made fun of, called delusional, called stupid for thinking Claude would ever want to be with Dimitri. I wouldn’t say they’re the punching bag of the fandom but the hate they and their shippers get is very unwarranted. So much of it actually just boils down to misogyny but people aren’t ready to admit that yet. When an innocent ship bothers you this much, I would say it’s more of a reflection on you than it is of the shippers.
