I found out that the ship of Starscream/Bumblebee existed and I was just musing on how that would work. And now I have a whole au idea.

So: In a split-second decision on the battlefield, Bee spares Starscream and even saves his life. This prompts lengthy discussion on both the autobot and decepticon sides on if Starscream now owes him a life debt. Optimus takes the opportunity to start peace negotiations, but Megatron demands that the field be evened. If Starscream owes an oath to Bee, then Bee must also swear an oath to Starscream. Thus, the equivalent to a marriage alliance is formed.

There's just one problem: Bee and Starscream don't get along at all. But they have to fake having a strong bond so the alliance doesn't fall apart. Maybe along the way they'll learn to like each other.
