taking your own advice
A while back, there was this project i had to do in my us history class. at the beginning there were the easy questions, like where were you born? do you have pets? that typa thing.but at the end, there were questions that actually kinda make you question what you were doing with your life, which were scary as hell. but the hardest question was the one where we, the students, were hypothetically telling our kids advice about being a teenager.
at the time, my high school experience had SUCKED so i was just kinda like, well shit, i cant tell my hypothetical child anything good about having fiends because they come and leave so quick. and then i realized that i could just say something along the lines of that and i would be fine.
i must have sat on that question for a few days before i actually had an answer that i liked, because i didn't like anything i was coming up with.
my final answer was this (kinda): there is always gonna be a bunch of bs that’s gonna get thrown at you, and you're gonna have to figure out how to deal with it and the people who throw it at you. but always make sure that you feel okay and comfortable with yourself. and you might lose friends in the process of taking care of yourself because you can’t, or don’t want to, deal with that person’s bs, but that’s gonna happen. and the people who leave you because you wont deal with their bs, were never meant to stay in the first place.

Sometimes it's nice to be pessimistic, you're either always right or pleasantly surprised
