i am so serious you are the only person in the world who understands the concept of a transfem fan ii. you are legitimately the only person ive seen have a well informed take on it that doesnt reek of sinophobia or transmisogyny. ive been in the ii community for over 7 years and not once have i ever seen somebody be RIGHT about the way they interpret fan as transfem before now.

thank you for being a light in the dark for trans women (like me!) . fan ii was really important to me during my time as a cis man and it means a lot to see someone think about what fans transition would actually look like considering the man he currently is in canon (very similar to my pre-transition self)

transfem fan is honestly so tragic to me, considering it ties into how Fan can't seem to explore himself and his identity properly yet, because he's still afraid of the change and self-perception that comes with it

he already struggles so much with actually seeing himself properly as a person. he has a hard time inventing change when it comes to specifically himself and allowing himself to be different, and it would be a huge step for him to actually go outside of his comfort zone enough to discover this part of himself. And even beyond the transfem headcanon, it would just be So Healthy for him to actually be willing to experiment with his identity and presentation and to find himself

If he knew he was trans, he would know a facet of himself he couldn't explore, and he'd be in denial about it, making excuses for why he wouldn't let himself live happily. because it's scary to change and to be different. And he's already attached himself to one thing, so changing that is scary. he'd keep putting it off and convince himself he had other things to focus on and that it'd be too late to do anything about it and not understand how to actually live as himself.

The whole egg thing ties so much into it and how he won't let himself break out of the shell, and he still stays hiding in it. But, as the episode itself says, Fan learns that sometimes he can exit the shell whenever he needs to, but it's always there in case he gets too scared (shown through the shimmer design), and I think taking small steps to experiment with himself and try new things is the key to solving that. But Fan is very gradual in any development and would most likely need a push in that direction

I have Many thoughts on Fantube. The most frequent thing is defending their "best friends" status on the wiki like my life depends on it. because they're the awesomest thing ever

When I first got into ii I did actually ship them, but it was cuz it was so popular. When actually watching through it and thinking about them, I realized how much I cherish their relationship and how great it is that they're friends and that they really don't need to be anything more than what they are now. I have a hard time seeing them romantically now since I value their friendship so much and what they mean to each other, that I can't see how romance could ever fit into their relationship or describe how they feel for each other.

Both Fan and Test Tube are so out of the norm and don't conform already, and I personally could never see them fit in romantic labels or standards of any sort. I feel like if they did try out romance, they'd both be uncomfortable by the label and pressure on their friendship and unanimously agree to never try that again. I also heavily headcanon them both as aromantic because of their weird perceptions of relationships, and I don't think they hold any greater value in romantic relationships over platonic ones. I think they see each other beyond romance. Fan, disregarding romance to fictional stories or tropes. Test Tube, who can't understand romance beyond a societal structure and a subject to study rather than something to feel.

When people talk about wanting Fantube to be "canon", I always feel it's usually never thought through, because how can they be "canon"? Their relationship, romantic or not, is already something that exists, and they love each other with no doubt. Do people want a confirmation that they've always been "dating", or do they want a confession scene? Do they want them to act differently than they do in canon, now? Why would you wish to change that, when they're already so important to each other? If you do interpret them romantically, isn't canon already enough for that? They're already closer to each other than anybody else. Fan and Test Tube aren't like Paper and OJ!!! They act differently, therefore their relationship is different!! you know?

When I think about Fantube, I think about Fan and Test Tube. Their dynamic, how they care about each other, how they struggle, and how they hurt each other. I think they're an interesting dynamic to explore and think about, and I love seeing them interact and exist together. I don't ship them, but I value their friendship to a deeper level than any shipping could ever do for me. They make me feel so many emotions, and they're so important to one another in a way romance just cannot describe in any way, shape, or form, and they're each other's best friend. And I like them. When I see Fan and Test Tube, I just see two best buddies. That's two close autistic nerd friends right there. Thank you for the question 😁

I’ve met people who will actually argue against this (and I suggest just blocking anyone who does) but if your choice is between going hungry and getting fast food or snack food….PLEASE JUST FEED YOURSELF. No food is actually bad enough that it’s better to skip eating entirely. Malnutrition is more dangerous, more immediately, and more long-term than any consequences of eating a damn twinkie or a cheeseburger.
