I'm specifically asking about Twilight-style vampires (beauty, immortality, no sleep, sparkling, painful thirst, no fangs, possible psychic powers, Volturi government, all of it) not vampires in general. That would be a whole other poll. I'm trying to see if stance on Twilight-style vampirism correlates with overall enjoyment of BD in any meaningful way.

Proof of concept:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Almost certainly late to the party on this because I am a decrepit millennial but I've been seeing those TikToks with the "don't ask me how I did it, I just did it, it was hard" audio and I have a vision I cannot personally execute because I am not a video-making person, so I am throwing it out there to the universe.
First, someone asking Carlisle how he managed to overcome bloodlust and become a doctor, and the answer is of course "don't ask me how I did it, I just did it, it was hard."
Second, someone asks newborn!Bella how she is so amazing at being a vampire, and she answers, "don't ask me how I did it, I just did it" with the 'it was hard' part left off, because, well, *gestures at Breaking Dawn*

re: Bella's blood type, searched the PDFs of the books.
Midnight Sun says O Positive (1 time) Breaking Dawn suggests O Negative (3 times)
Didn't find a reference to it in New Moon or Eclipse, but happy to stand corrected if anyone else can point to one!
And the outtake explicitly says it's O Negative, pointing out that of course Bella would have the hardest blood to supply. But it's only an outtake so not canon.
I think the intention was that she was O Negative because it's very Bella to a) be the type that can't receive any other kind of blood and b) to be the universal donor--Bella the martyr and all that.
My guess is SM misremembered which of the O blood types was the universal donor one and got it wrong in Midnight Sun, although I guess it could be a retcon. Don't know why she'd bother to retcon it, though. What purpose would it serve?

This is how I think Renesmee looks like, and I don't mean it as a eewww stinky demon doll baby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think she would look like a literal doll, porcelain skin but with the little blush and rosy lips, unusual eye color, healthy hair and precious curls. And the way Rosalie (yes, Rosalie not Bella) dresses her wouldn't help with her blending in with a normal human child.
I think most people go for the horrible looking puppet on Twilight that they kinda forget how she's supposed to look like.
Tumblr media
And yes, I got my interpretation from the Illustrated guide.
I don't care about Renesmee enough to hate her, she's a little creepy and I love that honestly, you go demon baby! terrorize everyone around you, girl!

What's so funny to me about this outtake is that canonically Carlisle is there at the hospital, too. But he apparently was not involved in their heist.
Which leads to the mental image of Carlisle hunting rattlesnakes and coyotes by himself, shaking his head and wondering where he went wrong with Alice and Edward.
Twilight Outtake: Blood Bank
This one is kind of hard to find.  It isn’t on SM’s website or easily accessible on the Lexicon (you have to dig kind of deep for it).   It was once available on MySpace I guess?  So here it is.  This IS written by Stephenie Meyer.  This takes place at the end of Twilight, when Bella is in the hospital recovering from the James fiasco.
SM: I did once write about Edward with red eyes…. Just for fun, here is a new outtake for you. It’s a piece from an epilogue I didn’t use. Enjoy! (Remember, this is unedited, rough draft stuff). —- Food started to become a dilemma, not for me, but for them. I wasn’t aware of the problem at first, always a little hazy from the drugs the nurses injected through my IV, and Edward never spoke to me about it. When I finally noticed, his irises were almost entirely black, the circles under his eyes deep and purple. But he brushed aside all my concerns, laughing.
Then one morning, waking uncomfortable and groggy-I wasn’t sleeping well flat on my back, but it was the only position that my leg allowed-I opened my eyes to look for him, my first instinct now. He knew the signs of my waking, and he was always there, his seraphic face my first sight of the day. All the nuisances of the hospital, the needle-happy nurses, the pain of my injuries, the lumpy spots in my hard bed, faded to nothing compared with the gift of his company.
“Good morning.” His smile was unbearably beautiful. Thank goodness they’d removed the heart monitor, so the nurses wouldn’t have to come check the sudden spike in my pulse.
And then I noticed his eyes, and gasped.
“What’s wrong?” He frowned, at once becoming overly concerned.
“Your eyes.” I shivered. The last time I’d seen eyes that color I’d nearly died. He ducked his head, ashamed, turning his burgundy-tinted irises away.
“Sorry, I should have warned you.”
I gazed at him broodingly till he finally looked back up, his garnet eyes apprehensive.
“Are you upset?” he asked, tentative.
I sighed. “I guess I’m okay, as long as it was that nurse that keeps having so much trouble finding my veins.”
He made a disgusted sound and leaned away from me. “I hope you’re joking.”
“Then what…?” I wondered.
“Alice and I knocked over the hospital blood bank, ” he admitted, seeming embarrassed. “It was her fault-she refused to hunt coyotes or rattlesnakes.”
I giggled, picturing her distaste. “I hoped you stayed away from the O-negative, ” I tried unsuccessfully to look severe.
He glared, upset by my reference to those first anxious hours-of which I had no memory-when the hospital ran out of my blood type and had to have more rushed up by helicopter from Tucson.
“We chose AB-positive, of course.”
“Of course, ” I agreed. “Those lucky stiffs can use anybody’s blood.”
He scowled at me. He considered it all part of my hazard-attracting nature-and therefore my fault-that I would have the most difficult blood to supply.

Oops! Yeah, it looks like she forgot!
Or I guess it's possible they got O negative because it can be given to anyone, but the outtake specifically says they ran out of Bella's type and it's very Bella that she would be O negative which can only receive other O negative blood.
Am I alone in thinking the original reason Carlisle had a supply of blood in Breaking Dawn was in case Bella needed a transfusion? Bella and Renesmee do end up drinking it, but I don't think that was its original purpose.
The reason I think this is because Rosalie says specifically they have a bunch of "type O negative laid aside for Bella." Why would they need a specific type if it were for drinking? The only reason the type would matter is if it were intended for human Bella who might need it for medical reasons.
And later Seth comments that Carlisle's going to buy more blood because Bella's drinking all the O negative and Carlisle's worried about depleting the stockpile. Again, the specific type makes me think this is about a potential transfusion.
Also, in that weird "Blood Bank" deleted scene from Twilight, it's revealed Bella's blood type is O negative.

Blood transfusions were a big thing in Dracula so that could have been an interesting reference/throwback to granddaddy of vampire novels if SM were more vampire genre savvy.
