HC: the two continue to walk out of the bar, arm in arm, singing, then have a friendly peck on the lips. Afterward, they go to Vim's, eat Chinese food, and continue to laugh about their drunken antics, like the besties they are.
— END
"Careful, Yilmaz. Praise does things to me," Callum joked, throwing her a playful wink as she patted his head. The wig fell into his eyes, and he had to fight to fix it back into position, but it looked like a mess. Not that he cared. He was having fun, and that's all that mattered. They huddled together, whispering and giggling like two schoolkids, and Callum nodded enthusiastically. "Of course I do!" He leaned back and flexed his arms, showing his Herculean strength. "Anyone messes with you or Billie, they will have a very angry Irish man on their tail, and I may look sweet, but..." Callum leaned in, "You fuck with the family, then you fuck with me...Hulk comes out, and well, you don't wanna see that." The laughter that crinkled his eyes let her know he was teasing, but there was truth to it. Callum cared about them both very much, and he knew how hard it was to be a single parent. They all had to look out for each other.
Callum flinched when she swatted his arm and pretended to nurse it in pain. "They better be if I'm putting up with abuse!" He joked, then gently wrapped his pinky finger with hers and squeezed it. "Those are legally binding, so they are." He narrowed his gaze on her, then chuckled. Callum sipped his drink, then absent-mindedly twirled the straw in his mouth.
"You do?" He asked curiously, eyes moving over her features as she continued. Callum knew things with Gen were just fun, but he couldn't deny that he cared a lot. They both did, which is why they trusted each other to try this, but he didn't want it to get around and for them to feel pressure. They needed to let loose with each other without other prying eyes. That was why he respected keeping his distance tonight, as Cam was here. Gen didn't need that stress. "I do, yea..." Callum glanced again for a sight of Gen and saw her with some friends, and he smiled softly. "We have been friends for a while, so of course I like her, but I like you, too!" Callum added, eyes now fixed on Leyla. "Not that I'm looking to sleep with you," he quickly added, slightly panicking. "Jesus, this is stressful enough without throwing you into the mix," he continued, but his tone was more playful, joking with her. They were very strictly friends, so that would never happen.
The straw still hung from his mouth, but Callum pulled it out and popped it back into his cocktail. "What about him?" Callum asked with a raised brow. The topic of Cameron always felt awkward, as he was learning to process in his head that he was sleeping with the guy's ex-wife. Before he could reassure her, he was distracted by her sudden change in focus, as her eyes wandered beyond him. Callum saw something shift in her face, so he looked behind him, and after a moment, he saw it. That must hurt, he thought. Callum turned back to her and nudged his knee against hers, trying to pull her from her thoughts. "Hey, so — Cameron, what's the secret?" He asked her, happy to talk about anything that made him uncomfortable if it helped to distract her from Benny. Callum felt a bubble of rage in his chest at the other man and knew he would have to talk to him tomorrow. Who did he think he was punching the men she was kissing to then go cozy up to another woman? It was hypocritical, and Callum didn't like it.

TASK 002 — Happy Holidays, everybody!
Does your character celebrate Christmas?
Yes, very much so. Callum is big into Christmas and always has been since he was young.
If yes, how do they celebrate? Are they super pro Christmas, or a grinch?
Super pro Christmas. They decorate the small apartment in late November, and then, in December, there is a Christmas-themed movie every night with his daughter (Avie). Christmas Eve is a family night. He will spend the day cooking, and they will put on matching pyjamas, watch more movies and shows, then eat lots of Christmas treats. Avie gets to pick and open one present, and then they put out milk and cookies for Santa and Reindeer treats before they go to bed. Avie likes to sleep with her Dad on Christmas Eve, and he will read her different books until she falls asleep. When she's sound asleep, he will go out and fix all the presents for her, eat the cookies and drink the milk, then climb back into bed. A very tired Callum is woken up VERY EARLY, like 5am, and he shuffles out to watch Avie excitedly open presents. He would usually FaceTime his mom around this time, and they all share in the moment.
What do they eat on Christmas?
Christmas dinner is turkey, stuffing, ham, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, and sprouts with lots of gravy. Callum likes cranberry sauce, too. They like cake and custard for their Christmas dessert. Outside of that? Lots of chocolate and snacks. Callum has some wine, and Avie has some grape juice or other fancy juices that are her kid's wine.
What their favourite traditions?
Before they settle down for their Christmas Eve night, they carol sing door to door in the apartment complex to raise money for a local shelter, then donate it and help out for an hour at the shelter. That's Callum's favourite tradition, as he loves to share those moments with Avie and friends but also help others. Avie's favourite tradition is chocolate for breakfast (only on Christmas...and maybe Easter), and calling her Granny Flynn back in Ireland as she opens her presents.
What do they love most about Christmas?
Time off with Avie, making memories, and seeing her happy little face.
What’s the best Christmas present they’ve ever gotten?
For Callum, it was his first guitar when he was 9.
What was their favourite Christmas?
The second Christmas with Avie. The first Christmas had been hard as he came to terms with Hayley leaving them; he was sad and heartbroken. However, the following year, he vowed to make those traditions and moments with his daughter, and he's never been happier since.
Have their Christmas traditions changed since they were a child?
There is much more American influence and culture in his Christmasses with a young daughter growing up in the US. Callum keeps some Irish traditions going with movies, food, and treats, but overall elements have changed. The holiday is much smaller as he doesn't have all of his family, but Callum likes to invite friends around on Christmas day, as he loves a big, happy, laughing home on Christmas.
What’s the Christmas wish this year?
That Avie's troubles ease up. She's been having a tough year since the storm and feels her mother's absence more than ever. Callum hopes that sadness lifts from her and that with the new puppy (he bought her for her birthday) and time off with the family she does have, she will feel better. He wouldn't mind a Christmas kiss from a particular woman friend, but he's not expecting anything. They're just friends having some fun...
What’s their Christmas like? Do they dress fancy or in pyjamas? Presents before or after breakfast, presents on Christmas Eve? What’s their typical Christmas day?
Christmas Eve is pyjamas, and Christmas Day is cheesy jumpers. Presents early on Christmas morning before breakfast. After that, Avie naps on the sofa, watching cartoons, as Callum tidies up and preps dinner. He will invite friends over and then help Avie get ready. They will both be in cheesy Christmas jumpers, and when friends turn up, he will dish out dinner. There will be crackers, and they will all wear silly paper hats. After dinner, there's dessert, and theeeeen its party games/board games with Christmas music.
Anything else?
Here's some gifs from NP that give the vibe:

"I'm the idiot?" Callum asked back with mild offense but chuckled lightly. He had heard about his friend's antics at the Halloween party, so Benny should be careful throwing around the word idiot. "You watch yourself, Hellstrom..." Callum jokingly threatened with a knowing look in his eyes. It was all playful teasing, though, as Callum knew Benny was a good guy. A little squirming would do him no harm, however. "Oh, really? I saw a girl swoon herself into your lap on Halloween night... you didn't seem to mind then," Callum continued to tease. In fact, the girl was familiar to Callum. He had met her a few nights before Halloween, and she had been touching up on his wet torso. It seemed like she didn't waste any time. Callum reached down to scratch the puppy's ears and then called over one of his own, picking it up as it tried to lick his face. "Hey, I don't need any help right now. I'm content with one woman sitting on my lap right now, and I won't name names, but trust me..." Callum leaned in as if to whisper to the dog, "Mr Flynn is batting way out of his league with this one."
"I think," he grins. Wild dogs were always on his family's property. It was a nostalgic feeling, being around them again, in a good way. Benny had always thought about having one and being around them right now really added to the pressure. Did he have time for it? He tilts his head, nodding. It was possible. He grinned then, rolling his eyes as he shook his head. "You're an idiot," he laughed. Even talking about women right now exhausted him. Benny had made many poor choices over the past few weeks, so taking some time away from it all felt necessary. However, at this point, he was beginning to wonder if he was just avoiding it. "I can't have anybody swooning right now," he says passively. A small puppy starts making its way over to them, heading for Benny. "So maybe it's a no on Noodle," he says to the pup, picking it up with a playful pout. He turns him to face Callum, holding the puppy up to view. "Looks like I'm gonna have to go home and help Mr. Flynn get laid instead," he says in a funny voice.

The confidence that radiated from her was infectious, and Callum found himself growing bold as the night went on, happy to toy with the men she worked with. Clearly, she wasn't their biggest fans, so if he could help her get one over on them, he was more than happy to. Despite that, Callum still blushed when she called him handsome, not used to someone being so forthcoming with their attraction to him. If that's what it was. He was entirely sure, but whatever it was, he wasn't used to it.
He watched as she potted the balls in effortlessly, impressed by it all. Callum's eyes found hers, and a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. She sunk another shot. He shook his head and followed her as she moved around the table, eyes flicking over her body quickly. Callum was so distracted by the show she was putting on for them that he didn't notice the man returning with the drinks until he stood before him. Callum reached out to take the drink, but the glass contents were poured over his head.
The coldness shocked him first, and he gasped, spitting out the beer as it flowed over his mouth. Callum shook his head like a wet dog and then wiped his eyes. Callum felt a rage flare inside him and clenched his jaw to restrain himself. These guys were way more rich and connected than him, so the last thing he needed was to beat the fuck out of this Brady guy and lose his job. That's when he heard the other men laughing, and Callum barged past Brady — broad shoulder smacking against the other man's hard so that he fell to the floor — that's when the laughter grew louder, but at least it was at the expense of that dickhead.
Callum didn't stick around to see them pay up; he didn't want their money. He stood by the bar and used the nearby napkins to dry his face. "Not your fault," Callum chuckled as she offered an apology. He watched as she tried to dab his drenched t-shirt dry with the napkins, knowing it was a hopeless task. However, she seemed to be taking her time with it, as if she was enjoying it. Callum burst into loud laughter and shook his head, "I guess it was worth it then, huh?"
The bartender threw him one of their promotional shirts, and Callum tugged the wet fabric over his head. He stood shirtless in the bar with a red flush across his chest from embarrassment. He grabbed some napkins and tried to dry some of the beer from his skin, hoping no one was looking, as he must have looked crazy. "Why do you think he did that, then? Does he like you or something?" Callum asked curiously. As dry as he could be, he pulled on the new t-shirt and put his hands on his hips, "Well, how do I look?"
Reina couldn't lie and say that she didn't get a tad bit upset at how the other girl had acted when he broke the news to her, hands balling at her side just in case she might have needed to go over and handle anything he wouldn't. It was a rarity to see Reina actually get upset enough to lay hands on another, she was sure it had only been seen by someone else maybe a handful of times. Hand still balled at her side when he finally made his way over to her, she placed a sweet smile onto her lips before shoving the same balled fist into the stomach of one of the many men who had been staring him down—laughing at the groan that came from him before they started in on their game.
"You would think, right?" she aided in his teasing, a hand coming to dance her fingertips along his back as she looked over to see the men still looking annoyed that instead of getting beat by just her alone, now there was an outsider in the mix. "The winning shot, handsome, watch this," she took her cue stick and lined up her shot, playing out which balls she needed to hit and in what order to make quick work of them. "One," she counted off, sending her first shot and banking it. Moving around the table, she bent forward, brown hues finding his blue. "Two," she spoke again as she banked another shot, moving around the table one more time to set up the finishing shot when one of her colleagues was making his way back to the table with a tray full of drinks...and a look in his eye that definitely was not good.
Reina waited and watched him, hand gripping the cue stick anxiously as he handed out everyone's drinks...until he got to him, and instead of handing it over, the drink was 'mistakenly' spilled, and now the poor guy's shirt was soaked through. "You're a real dick for that, Brady." she dropped the stick and beelined for him, some of the other men laughing at the situation until she swiveled her head and landed them with an icy glare. "Automatic forfeit, we win, so hand me the money and go home since your dicks are too little and your egos are too fragile to handle friendly competition." Hand opened; she watched as they grumbled, and all came over to place money in her hand. "Now I see why you all need my help winning your cases," she added as they left, attention back on Mr. Drenched. "I'm so sorry," she looked over him before grabbing nearby drink napkins that would not be helpful in the slightest and started to dab at his shirt, hand grazing over the very noticeable abs that began to peek through the fabric. "I mean, I guess I can't complain though," she started, laughing a little as she looked up at him. "You don't look half bad wet."

Who did he think he was punching the men she was kissing to then go cozy up to another woman? It was hypocritical, and Callum didn't like it.
"That a good boy," she pats the top of his head, the blonde wig shifting a little, which only elicited a laugh from her as he eyes crinkled with amusement. "Focus.." As he scooted closer, she leaned into him, nudging his side some as laughter spilled from their lips all over again. "No, you're right.. I shouldn't let it get to me." But it did.. and she couldn't help it. "I'm just so confused. It's not like Benny at all." I'll be having words with that boy. Callum always knew how to make her feel better, even if it was a drunken pep talk and words of support. Fact was, Callum wouldn't hurt a fly.. so it made his faux anger even funnier. "You've always got my back, don't you Cal? Thank you. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Leyla couldn't help but laugh at Callum’s drunken rambling, her grin widening as his face flushed a deep shade of crimson. She swatted his hand away from her lips and rolled her eyes playfully. “Your secret’s safe with me, Callum,” she teased, holding up her pinky finger for him to swear on. She hooked hers with his clumsily, the two giggling like kids before she released him and returned to sipping her drink. Admittedly, she was surprised by the connection between Gen and Callum, only because she hadn't expected it whatsoever. But, at the same time she absolutely could see it. “You know,” she said after a beat, her tone light but sincere, “I think it’s nice. You and Gen. Even if it’s just fun, she’s lucky to have someone who cares about her the way you do.” Her smile softened, knowing how hard it was to date as a parent, and she couldn't imagine how Gen felt after a divorce, too. “Not everyone gets that, you know? —You must really like her, huh?"
Some words sat on the tip of her tongue, her lips parting as she peered over at Callum. "I.. have a confession. About.. uh.. Gen's ex husband?" She studied his face, gaze landing on his blue eyes as panic began to set in. "You have to promise not to tell a damn soul, Callum Flynn, or I'll be having words with your mother!"
Before Callum could respond, Leyla’s gaze shifted across the room. She wasn’t really searching for anything, just letting her eyes wander, but then she froze. There, through the shifting crowd, she spotted Benny. He was sitting in a dimly lit corner with a brunette, their heads bent close together, her legs atop of his own. Her stomach twisted as she watched the woman lean into him, laughing at something he said. His hand rested on her thigh, and they were all over each other in a way that made Leyla’s heart sink. Her grip tightened around her glass, and she quickly looked away, hoping Callum hadn’t noticed her expression.

"Oh, sorry. I just assumed..." Callum offered with an apologetic raise of his hand. When he thought about it, she had been a natural, so why he had assumed that he wasn't sure. It might have been a projection of his own nerves.
"Of course," Callum answered in understanding. However, he was confused. One second she said she was fine and now she was saying exactly what he had said. He scratched his curls and tried to shake it off, deciding to let it go. "New or not, you were excellent," he offered to try and end it on a positive.
Callum laughed, "Amazing at everything, huh? That's a big standard to live up to." He smiled at her as she leaned against the desk, blue eyes considering her momentarily. He was sure she was joking, but something about how she carried himself told him that she was pretty hard on herself. "Oh, Jesus... about five years? Not too long, but it feels it. I'm even getting my first greys," he joked, pointing to the spot on his head with a little grey patch. "I love it, but kids will put the years on ya'."
“Oh, no,” Peri reassured him, though the squeeze at her shoulder seemed to imply he meant to reassure her. “Getting up there alone actually wasn’t all that bad.” She was used to having all eyes on her— Even If it usually wasn’t in a good way.
How many times had she tensed under the watchful gaze of her parents, knowing whatever came from their mouths next wouldn’t be praise or acknowledgment for all she’d done right but criticism for the one thing she’d done wrong?
Attention wasn’t the issue, but she wasn’t sure how to explain what about her time spent in the classroom put her so on edge. Wasn’t sure how to explain that her doubts now had less to do with the kids and more to do with herself.
It was a hard swerve from how she expected to be filling her time in Briar Ridge but she liked working with the library. She wanted them to want her around. And that, the desire to stick with something longer term, was terrifying in and of itself.
“I’m just still pretty new to all of this, you know?” Her mouth curved around a smile. After placing the lid back on her bin she turned, reclining into the desk’s edge to face him full on. “Like you said, kids are ruthless and don’t hold back. I need to know what’s working and what’s not. My reputation of being amazing at everything is at stake.”
A beat passed between them before she shifted topic entirely. "How long have you been at this? Teaching, I mean."

"Oh, I never would have thought of that. Yea, we need someone who can work with kids. I don't want some creep coming to my daughter's party!" Callum laughed, but his eyes widened with stress at the thought of it. "Even so, it's very kind. I appreciate it," he offered with a warm smile. He watched as she scribbled down the website, and his eyes flicked up to her face, taking her in for the first time. She was very pretty — like most of the women in this town. "Perfect, I'll look at it tonight and get some ideas for you." Callum looked at his watch and realised he had to get home to prepare dinner for Avie. She was at a friend's house but would be home soon. "Do you want to come see the apartment? What the space looks like?" He asked her, a tinge of red on his cheeks. "I have to get home, but I didn't want to cut this short."
"It's an idea that we can write down." Elsie couldn't promise everything that she was putting out there but they could try their best to make some of these a reality. "I'm sure we can find someone online for the right price. We'll have to look at reviews because we don't want to hire just anyone." Especially when it involved children. "Don't mention it, I love doing this." It was her job but outside of that, she adored bringing something on paper to life and seeing a child beaming on their birthday would be the cherry on top. "Pinterest." She echoed, tearing a piece of paper from her notebook to write it down. "It's good for inspiration— you can find pretty much anyone on there, like food, decorations, games, presents."
