My whole life, I’ve wanted nothing but to be like you. To be the kind of man who sacrificed for others. Who cared. Who would do anything to help another person. I wanted to be the guy someone could depend on the way I could always depend on you. The guy who made other people’s life better just by being there for them. The guy who made a difference.
That’s the only thing I regret. I wanted to earn the pride you’ve always had in me. I wanted to do something right. Make a difference to people the way you made a difference to me.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t do it.

I hope you find someone who will put you first, the way no one else in your life ever did. Someone who will bear some of the weight, so you don't have to spend your life carrying it on your own.

If there's one thing I know it's that you have to take whatever gives you peace in this world. You have to take it and protect it with every part of yourself that you can.

The past? We can't change that. The future though? It's not set in stone.

This is why I don't get close to people. This is why I don't let them in. There's never been anyone in my life who hasn't let me down.

This is the way life works, isn't it? Something actually starts to work out in my life. Something gives me hope only for me to have the rug ripped cruelly out from under me.

Sometimes, you get lucky and cross paths with someone who can make it feel a little less lonely. Sometimes they pop out of places where you least expect them.

We all make decisions that not everyone understands. We all have different reasons for doing what we do. It might not always seem like it from the outside, but we're all just trying to do the best we can. Something that makes sense for one person, doesn't always make sense for another.

“Would be nice to have someone in my life who I could count on. Someone who I knew was always there for me. Who cared about me even more than they cared about themselves.”
“Sounds like it, doesn’t it? Someone giving up everything for you seems like it should be the ultimate compliment or a comforting thing when you know that you always have someone who has your back. But it’s hard to be happy when someone keeps themselves in a cage for you. Because knowing you’re the reason they can’t be happy—knowing they refuse to leave that cage as long as there’s a chance it could upset you—that’s a heavy burden to carry.”

Knowing someone still doesn't mean they know what someone has been through or how they feel. I'm proof of that.
