A crash, a bang -- the muffled intake of air -- before exhaling a sigh of relief. Dedusmuln brings a rather large, albeit daunting book carried underneath one’s arm, then sitting upon the floor, setting it down as well. Papers protrude, a black scrawl overbears each piece, & some are loosened & shuffled as the archaeologist fumbles through the volume.
Last page turns, & index finger points at the title of the note: “ MAGNETS: HOW DO THEY WORK? ” Then, as if to exasperate this point, the finger prods once -- twice -- more. “ Check it!! ”
Tumblr media
Excitement exudes from not only their words, but hunched form -- head leans ever closer in an attempt to marvel their own handiwork.
“ Gnarly -- isn’t it? ”
@snpcuas / starter call from somewhere lul.

razeboot‌!
One eye narrows on the creature, considering the likelyhood of this being a bad trip. The conclusion is a resounding no; he’s been completely clean for at least a good couple of hours. Angeldust hums, a loose fist going to his own chin in thought.
Moments of staring pass before he manages out an indifferent “huh,” sauntering over with his left set of hands on his hip. “So, no head?” He inquires, though his atrocious analysis wasn’t finished as he chuckled, studying the rest of the creature more than he’s probably ever studied in either of his lives. “Well, ya know, this isn’t too bad… hey, babe, tell me; those babies match what ya got in…” (author’s note, stop him)
@paprcup
Initially, one could only wonder what they were doing wrong. Had they gotten dirt on their face? Was the burrito they had earlier stuck between teeth? Insecure, a finger is brought up, wiping back & forth along one of his tentacles. Yet, another’s incredulous stare persists, & so does their worry -- up until, & perhaps after, the initial words spoken.
Admittedly, even embarrassingly, the greeting does not quite register to Dedusmuln. Was their head not an obvious part of them? The weight upon their shoulders told, rather loudly, otherwise. Hand props it up against where a cheek should be, instead holding no more than the base of a tentacle. For a second, they wait even longer for their greeting to continue, so foreign, alien as it was.
When nothing follows, there’s a hesitance, but then a voice.

16. , 29. & 19. 💚
16. Do they dream? What are those dreams like?
Not often! If they do, they couldn’t talk intelligently about it come morning. However, the presence of the machine they built has supplemented their dreams – oftentimes, they will turn their machine on while they get to sleep, & wander around the scape they find themselves in.
19. How do they behave within a group? What role(s) do they take? Does this differ if they know and trust the group, versus finding themselves in a group of strangers? Why?
Done. (on parker’s lmao)
29. What kind of activities, interests, and hobbies do they have? What significance and impact do these have in their lives, both positive and negative?
Their interest lies, first & foremost, in the study of archaeology. Whether it be exploring places of old, researching old literature, or making field notes … This has been so important for them it has become a personal project, & perhaps their livelihood. They are still only new to the field, their first discovery being the paper cup – yet, with more research, & more attempts… They’ll make more discoveries, for sure!
As for less guiding hobbies they have, Dedusmuln plays the theremin for their band. & when they aren’t doing this … they’re quite the knitter.

10, 12, 14, 19 same as jasps cause im focken LAZY
10. What energizes and drains them most?
They are most energized by their work, yet it also drains them immensely. When they are out on the field, on the brink of a discovery … They are so immensely motivated and focused! & this results in the fruit of productivity – Dedusmuln can accomplish things very quick. The dream machine built to find the paper cup? Took mere weeks to think & create, of which breaks were minimal.
Yet, one can only imagine the burnouts this will result in: whether they be voluntary or not. Sometimes, Dedusmuln will take a break on they own volition, only to sleep for a whole day on end & wonder where the time went. Othertimes, they will fall asleep on their work, or sit down for longer than expected. ( Dedusmuln would have most definitely found the artifact by himself, had Wayne not arrived … & yet, they were far too tired to do it. What a kind favor of Wayne. )
12. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands?
Well, alas – the face they have is rather hidden by their tentacles. It makes facial expression, mouth & eyes & eyebrows, almost unreadable without explicitly searching for them. & yet, they still manage to be very expressive! This is most definitely due to their disposition, enthusiasm in both posture & hand movements.
19. How do they behave within a group? What role(s) do they take? Does this differ if they know and trust the group, versus finding themselves in a group of strangers? Why?
They are rather good in group settings, an extrovert by nature. Whether it be with their friends, or within a group of strangers – they are oft able to function, introduce oneself, make engaging conversation, & perhaps make a new friend by the end. They work as a great mediator to the friends they have, too!!!

1, 2, 4, 13
1. How do they move and carry themselves? Pace, rhythm, gestures, energy?
Admittedly? – Not well. Dedusmuln is very slim, lean frame giving way to such a heavy, dense head. As a result, they are rather top heavy – a posture that signifies this. Their spine hunches, & their head leans & bobs every which way, rhythmic, as they walk, as if constantly peering down.
However, they are quite exuberant upon engaging with another being. A completely different disposition, they pick up their head & look straight. They speak with their hands, a constant fidget as they wring & rub them together, cracking their fingers. As well, as they speak – they are quite enthusiastic!
2. How much physical space do they use, active and at rest?
Not very much at all! Dedusmuln’s first instinct is to take up very little, crouching down & bringing their head unto their knees, or by taking smaller strides.
4. What is their size and build? How does it influence how they use their body, if it does?
I’ve kinda brought this up before. But again, a slim lean frame & a heavy head due to the protrusions they bear. As a result, their spine is sorta fuckt.
13. How do they greet the world — what is their typical attitude towards life? How does it differ in different circumstances, or towards different subjects? Why do they take these attitudes, and why do they change? How do these tend to be expressed?
WITH UNIMAGINABLY STOKED-NESS! They are naturally very positive, very joyful – however, they also have a very large natural curiosity. ( As scientists tend to have. ) This carries on to any situation, no matter how bleak it be. These are expressed visually, verbally – excitement is vocalized, & their hands will snap & clap or droop beside themselves.

So , this is death ? -- musing, Dedusmuln peers down at their hands, drumming upon their lap. From what had been gleaned, they’d known this to be called Hell. Not that they remembered much of what transpired prior to this, nothing more than waging battle ( & admittedly losing ) unto conical cultists, & the flesh melting away from their own body. A casual inconvenience, inevitability. But here they awoke, finding it -- a lot less ephemeral than they’d imagined.
If this was Hell, Dedusmuln ponders with a self-punctuated snort, if whatever the cultists worshiped was Truth.
So many preconceived notions of death, yet -- this subverted all of them. ( Where were the fish? Bodies of red fluid? The sandcastles? ) Such deep thought leaves them ultimately engrossed, not even acknowledging the voice impeding them. A second later does the response come, the delayed movement of one’s head to face another’s, steepling fingers onto the table now.
What an oh, so friendly smile. If the demon could peer past the tentacles engulfing their facial features, they’d be smiling, too.
In hindsight, it seemed proper to introduce themself first rather than to blurt out every little culture shock that befit them. ( Was different culture not their study? ) Despite this, there were much more pressing concerns!
