The Murderbot opening theme
It's a bit on-the-nose, but it works. I'm guessing it's in 2/2 because having this show's theme be binary gives me a li'l giggle, but it could also be 4/4. Tempo is somewhere in the vicinity of allegretto.
We start with what I call the Anxiety Theme, staccato eighth-notes from an anxious violin, anchored by quarter notes in what I think is cello range (but I'm pretty sure they're electronic, as the violin may be also).
Then there's a brief quarter-note transition in the violin to Thoughtscape Theme, in which the eighth-notes go down to the cello (and are a bit less staccato) while the violin gets longer-held notes and a viola (I think) friend. (Notice that the assembly-line SecUnits are very weighted and trapped, but during Thoughtscape Theme, our Murderbot zooms around weightlessly under its own power.)
We then return to Anxiety Theme. Murderbot has weight again, settling into the dusty planet surface. The recapitulation translates the cello into something a bit brassier, and adds some mid-voices and triplet rolls for the PresAux crew. Finally, Murderbot escapes back to its thoughtscape for a few seconds, and we close.

I picked up a copy of "The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire" by Dr. Chris Kempshall and was delightfully surprised. Kempshall is a World War I historian and a respected one at that, known for his modern media analyses and research on how contemporary art reflects and discusses war. This is precisely my shit, as most of you know, and after seeing who it was written by I did a little excited jig and thought, oh god I cannot wait for this analyses of Star Wars through the scope of the rise of fascism and the World Wars.
So imagine my delight when I start reading the historian's introduction only to realize this acclaimed academic has written a Galactic Empire history book from the perspective and lens from a historian within the Star Wars universe. It truly has been such a delight and for anyone in the historical field it's phenomenal to see the recreation of historical methodology and historiography from the in universe perspective of a fictional world. 10/10

Imagine if you had a neighbour who keeps performing songs from Phantom of the Opera in his apartment every night, by himself but accompanied by a parrot, which he has taught to sing Christine's part. Admittedly it's kind of obnoxious but you are far too baffled to even be properly annoyed. And also you don't want to confront someone with that kind of power and determination. So every once in a while you just hear this guy dramatically bellow
"SING FOR ME!"
[ASTONISHINGLY HIGH-PITCHED PARROT SHRIEK]

You ever hear that old chestnut about how most people neglect the part of the story of Icarus where he also had to avoid flying too low, lest the spray of the sea soak his feathers and cause him to fall and drown? You ever think about how different the world would be if Icarus died that way instead? If the idiom was to Fly To Close To The Sea? A warning against playing it far too safe, about not stretching your wings and soaring properly? You ever think about how Icarus died because he was happy?

the grok white genocide thing is so funny. like it's clear that musk tried to have the model tweaked to defend the conspiracy theory and whatever they did instead caused it to go rogue and both bring it up unprompted and start debunking it

today I used the phrase "breasting boobily" in casual real life conversation and everyone was shocked asking how I came up with that and I had to explain it. ive been at the devil's sacrament so long that I forgot he wasn't god
