Pre-Planning

So I can't really start on much other than just research without having some kind of plan outlined. To do that I need to have a space set up where I can actually work on the tower and make notes and shit so the first To Do list is this:

Clean up the office - roommates car parts going to the attic, random tv off the desk, 3D printer and other fun stuff off to the small desk so I can have space

Buying helpful planning shit - whiteboard, corkboard (maybe), notebook for when I do research away from home

Running an ethernet cable from my router up to the office so I can actually use the computer.

Get some basic tools for working on electronics: an electrical mat, some small screwdrivers, probably some kind of tweezers.

Can't really do much of anything until those car parts get moved so I get to annoy the fuck out of my roommate until that happens. Hopefully its soon!

Ive never used any kind of apple computer before, for personal use at least, but I recently decided to bid on a 2009 Mac Pro in an auction and managed to win it for $130. Thought it would just be a fun project to figure out what it could still do and have at least some kind of computer that made me feel like it did when I was a kid, but it turns out that thing is still a solid computer.

I've got some CPU upgrades to do, might add a wifi card to it, and have to add better/new hard drives, and need to learn how to use a mac, but I am excited. I've got hella plans in my head that need to be put on paper, and a ton of research to do as well which is gonna be fun.

Guess I'll finally use my tumblr as an actual blog and post updates as I go. I know it'll be less expensive then building a PC (which was my original goal) so I shouldn't really need to slow down on this project due to parts costs. Just gotta hope the ADHD enjoys the project for an extended period of time.

Also if you happen to know anything about upgrading this or have any helpful links, please share the knowledge with me. I would love to learn more about this computer from working on it and from any kind of help anyone might have.

Ill type at all about this again when I make any progress. Or I'll just continue to scream into the internet void about it so I can see where I started once it's all up and running how I want it to be.
