Sitting On Top Of The World
We started the day with a hotel breakfast followed by metro-ing to class, It lasted for 3 hours and we reviewed numbers 1-100 in French, played some games and had a competition of who could identify the number fastest and say it aloud in French. This was good because we needed to know numbers so that we could talk about a price in case we bought something from a street vendor. Right after class, we used the metro to get to the Eiffel Tower and took a bunch of photos while there. We didnât go up to the top because we were worried about the weather. The forecast had mentioned that there was going to be a ton of rain and possible hail. We didnât want to be caught up in that. We instead tried to go to the Louvre, but our tour director forgot that it was closed. Apparently, all museums are closed on Tuesday. We got a quick lunch and then went to a large tower that had a panoramic view from Montparnasse 56. It was a little smaller than the Eiffel Tower but gave us a similar view from the top. We got dinner at a restaurant called La Cremaillere where we ate baguettes and crĂȘpes. From dinner, we went to a church, Basilique Du Cacre-CĆre De Montmartre, where we looked around and had a great view of the city. We were on a hill so we could see Paris go on for miles and miles. After a long day of walking up hills, scenes from greater heights and standing in the rain, we made it back safely to our hotel room where we discussed tomorrowâs plan. Looking forward to actually seeing the Louvre tomorrow and perhaps more crepes!

LOCALS, LAUGHS AND LOTS OF FUN
First day of classes and although it was long we were able to enjoy it. The struggle to stay up was real. Last night, many of us were restless. The 10 minute break definitely helped. Madame Celiné was a very animated and interactive teacher. She was great with helping us improve our French with writing and conversational activities. She understood that we weren't all on the same level with our language, but she managed to make everyone feel comfortable with today's lesson. Today we had an entire hour for lunch. Btw, pizza hut in Paris is verrrrryyyy different compared to home. A cheese pizza had goat cheese toppings, which we were not expecting. You're probably wondering why we had pizza hut in France... don't judge us! After lunch, we had a more challenging scavenger hunt where we had to speak with locals in smaller groups. The locals participated well with our groups and were more polite than our experience so far. We visited a park nearby and split up to visit our dinner hosts for the evening. One group visited Gladyss, a professional cosmetologist who works with celebrities such as Naomi Campbell and PHARRELL. She served a chicken dish with fresh salad and homemade chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Another group visited a Parisian policeman who opened up his home with his partner and larger than life dog. Her prepared assorted veggies with homemade dressing, bread as usual, crackers, potatoes and chicken. It was tasty. The last group visited, Odile, a professional chef who prepared salad, cantaloupe, shepherd's pie (layer of potatoes, beef and cheese on top), and for dessert we had the French version of Rice Pudding aka riz au lait. It was an acquired taste. We found our way back to the hotel in our smaller groups and had a great group debrief. They even extended our curfew because of the great behavior today. Looking forward to visiting the Eiffel Tower tomorrow! Paris is better today, than it was yesterday! Bonne Nuit, Amina and Morgan

Planes, Metros, & Lines- Oh My!
Today we arrived at the airport really tired and we went right to the activities from going to Notre Dame to experiencing foot cramps, metro rides, and #whattheduck. While on the plane we were in the same section but not together. We watched movies such as Assassins Creed, White Chicks, and Just Go With it. A few others watched the movies provided by their eyelids. The food was decent. I would probably rate the airplane food at about a 2.5. The customs line took forever as usual and there was a lot of side eye and shade as we were being pushed to the front. The hotel rooms are âpetiteâ but good for sleeping. The A/C worked to an extent⊠thought it was. In the world of metro, two people got left behind because it was so crowded. They used the skills that our tour director provided them with to make their way back to the group. Advice would be to always keep up with the group. We saw a lot of pigeons AKA Chickens, THEY WERE WAY TO BIG!!! MORE ON THE PLUMP SIDE. We brushed through a little french speaking with a security guard for directions to where we needed to go while doing a scavenger hunt of History. We stood in the hot sun waiting to get into a shady Church with candles that were lit. *Cough *Cough Notre Dame. We got to walk through time, and saw the buildings and itâs unique architecture. When we got back we were âhangryâ. Many of us tried Duck for the first time. We returned to our rooms, exhausted, and ready to sleep but anxious to roam France again tomorrow.
Ă demain!
