Since the gallery is currently closed for installation, we thought that it would be a good time to remind everybody of all the things that go on at Parlor Gallery. • Not only do we curate exhibitions at the gallery. we also curate artwork for people’s home and businesses and also for public spaces and collections. Most call it art consulting, we like to think of it as “art matchmaking”. • We also curate (and consult) for public art projects, including the @woodenwallsproject located on @theasburyparkboardwalk • We also offer our gallery to those that want a special place to host their special event. We can also help you host it and plan it. • Galleries in small towns and cities are super important for being a place to have experiences, to be inspired and have a place to gather…and most importantly, to fall in love with a new piece of art and artist and take the experience home with you. • To learn more about Parlor Gallery and to visit, get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram (at Parlor Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqL0MGruTCY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

We love showing the series, “Heads of State”, created by Gavin Benjamin. This whole collection, (an ongoing work in progress) takes inspiration from Gavins’s family and friends, honoring their lives and ancestry while marrying today’s culture with the past. It’s a colorful world, conjuring an intersection of media, fashion, politics, pop culture and design. • “Heads of State No. 57", 2022, mixed media collage on wood panel, limited edition of 5, edition 3/5, 20x16x2", available • Gavin Benjamin is a multifaceted artist who combines original analog photography and appropriated images with collage, paint, and varnish to create rich and luxurious works that call back to baroque traditions while incorporating elements of current culture to provoke, critique, and explore. • Born in Guyana, South America and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Benjamin received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. • For more information about Gavin, his process and his available work.. and to purchase work by Gavin, get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram (at Parlor Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoFke2OOamL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

While the gallery has become a cardboard factory of magical sculptures, we have the task of taking down our last exhibition, “Local•ish”, a show celebrating our localish artists, including this beautiful piece by Suzanne Anan. • “Last Gods", 2018, oil on canvas, 40 x 60", framed, available. “Last Gods” was inspired from the sensual poem of the same name by Galway Kinnell. • Suzanne Anan is an Award Winning Contemporary Fine Artist. She studied in Italy and New York and exhibits her work internationally in cities from Paris to Tokyo.  Anan creates figurative compositions with women as her primary subject. She works in all mediums, but prefers the unpredictability of painting, and the humility and vulnerability required in every stroke of oil onto canvas. Her work is inspired by poetry and literature. Her raw material comes from real life. Her images are gloriously human, revealing the evocative expressions of her thought-provoking subjects.
• To learn more about Suzanne, her process and her available work…and to purchase work by Suzanne, get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram (at Parlor Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn54oFeDHfl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

One of the pieces in our current exhibition “Local•ish” is a de- constructed and re-constructed piece by local favorite, Porkchop. • 4 years or so ago, a building across the street from the gallery (the current Saxony Building on the Arts Bloc of Cookman Avenue) was under construction. There were temporary walls put up and Porkchop asked to paint on them. • After the construction was done, Porkchop’s piece came down and then became two pieces. One piece lives in the lobby of the Saxony and the other one is at the gallery and is available. • "Tight Like Tiger", 2022, acrylic, spray-paint and resin on wood, 66x48", available • To learn more about Porkchop, his process and his available work….and to purchase work from Porkchop, get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram (at Parlor Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnLXRojj648/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

On the “10th day of Christmas Sale”, we are sharing all the sparkly gold and beaded beauty of the work by our very own Jill Ricci. • Jill has three small 12x12’s, one of which is a circle, all available for our Holiday Sale….And even though they may be small, you still get all the sparkly bits and lovely details and texture of the larger pieces. • Jill Ricci’s multi-layered work aims to recreate the beauty of her favourite visuals, old walls layered with papers, graffiti and text. She is interested in layers of time and decay and how these can be deciphered as though a form of modern hieroglyphics. Allowing pattern, texture, colour and structure to emerge organically, Jill works to create a harmonious amalgamation between East and West, high art and popular culture, text and image, figuration and abstraction, ancient and modern. “I want the pieces to evoke the walls of Morocco, a Renaissance church, a NYC subway wall and of a hint Malibu Barbie all simultaneously existing on one canvas.” -Jill in her own words • For more information about Jill, her process, and her available work, and to purchase work by Jill (including these 2 piece), get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram (at Parlor Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmh-rssJu9P/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

For the “7th Day of Christmas” Sale, we are happy to share the symbolic and iconic work by our friend and artist, Dylan Egon. You may recognize Dylan’s work from the @woodenwallsproject • “Saint America Head", 2019, acrylic on wood panel, 4” in diameter, available “Totem”, 2020, limited edition skate deck, (limited number available) "Petey Head", 2019, acrylic on wood 4x4', available • Dylan Egon addresses themes that include American values, pop culture, and issues of production and consumption, as well as referencing the history of fashion and design. Egon’s background in anthropology and archaeology is evidenced in the artist’s fetishistic approach to objects and his reverence for craftsmanship. His assemblage, Modern American Tomb, is comprised of classic Coca-Cola and Jack Daniels bottles, Marlboro cigarettes, a Rolex watch and a copy of the Bible, among other objects – all of which surround a full-scale brass skeleton. Egon also works with a vocabulary of modern graphic symbols of his own design, applying them to furniture items. • To learn more about Dylan, his process, his available work..and to purchase works by Dylan, get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram (at Parlor Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmaqK8XDKkg/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

For our “8th day of Christmas” sale, we want to share the repurposed wood assemblages, created by our friend and local artist, Denis Randall • “Rhapsody of the Sentimental World", 2022, mixed media assemblage (reclaimed wood, vinyl and paper) on wood. 48x48", available. • Asbury Park local artist Denis Randall designs and creates art assembled from discarded objects and materials. • Inspired by wanting to repurpose the old, he combines pieces of abandoned items in ways that convert them from ordinary to enticing. • A mix of worn painted wood, rusted metal, and faded paper, even vinyl records, are saved from the landfill and given a new life. • Chaotic fragments are transformed into art, creating a harmonious sense of order through organized patterns, colors, and geometric shapes. • His creative talents also include graphic design, animation, and film editing, that span from the world of advertising to live events. • Even though the two mediums differ…one physical, the other digital…his design approach for both is the same; create something intriguing, approachable, and beautiful. • For more information about Denis, his process, his available work…and to purchase work by Denis, get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CmYCYxhDNqd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

For our “5th day of Christmas” sale, we want to share super fun art that puts a smile on your face every time, thanks to artist and friend, Ray Geary. • "Little Devils ", 2022, tinted resin on wood, 36x24", available (it glows in the dark) • Ray Geary is a self taught mixed media artist whose large scale work in resin and acrylic feature graphic abstraction and iconic, obtuse faces in equal measure. His process-driven works being with pours, which become the subjects of his compositions, seemingly acting of their own accord. Blending European traditions of "primitivism" and a pop-inspired sensibility toward the abject, his anthropomorphized spills and puddles offer a playful investigation into materiality. • To learn more about Ray, his process and his available work….and to purchase work by Ray, get in touch. • Email: [email protected] Website: www.parlor-gallery.com Visit: 717 Cookman Ave. Asbury Park, NJ Call: 732.869.0606 Direct Message on Instagram (at Parlor Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmQhipquMEL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
