In 2003, Abercrombie & Fitch approached Slavoj Žižek to write copy for the 126-pages Back to School issue of the largely clothing-optional A&F Quarterly. Never one to shy away from the absurd, Žižek accepted the improbable invitation and thought up some two dozen “silly Lacanian statements” to accompany spreads shot by Bruce Weber. He later commented “I spent literally 10 minutes on this assignment, just free-associating. I was in theoretical despair!”
