Parnus gave a little laugh. She always treated herself with such pomp and circumstance. That seemed to be the general attitude of the Upyr, though. They walked as though the dirt under their feet wasn’t worth their gaze. But everyone walked under dirt in Sanctuary, unless you were in the fields working--an occupation none of them would dream of. It amused him greatly.
And yet there was a connection between Milena and him. A friendship, at best. And she made for excellent conversation that the rest of the Vampires and even a few of the Humans couldn’t give. Maybe a need to talk was a part of the man he was. That was something to think about.
He lifted his kit in the direction of a small side-street; an alley between huts that he could just barely fit through.
“Easier walking than circling around the back of the town,” he explained, “and I’ve worked through moonlight already.”
Early morning had come and Milena had risen with it. The slight chill was welcomed company, as was the quiet that still blanketed the human settlement, save for the occasional rustle of children, animals, and workers restlessly ambling through Sanctuary. Like those who were up and about, Milena had her own reasons for being awake at this hour; hell, she had her own reasons for everything, particularly being among the few who roamed this town at all. For now, she knew one thing: she was starving, and now was a better time than later to manage to slip through the guard wall of Sanctuary to find herself a meal.
Like a handful of the other Upyr that had come to occupy this town, her presence here was not purely her choice. Gabriel had chosen her as an emissary—her, the Duchess of the Court—and she had no choice but to obey. Of course, over time, it had proven to be advantageous. The King preferred the impenetrable fortress he had come to call home with the rest of us who belonged; not only did it house him and his subjects, but it allowed zero tainting of tradition, and to him, that was crucial. Nothing that he deemed unworthy or contaminated would ever cross those walls, but it was there he had become foolish.
Milena was of the few who saw risk-taking to be beneficial; she knew the possible repercussions of feeding on the blood of the diseased, but she was not afraid of death. It was the only way she and those who were less able to control their near-insatiable appetites knew to sustain themselves, and occasionally, it had to be done. Today happened to be one of those occasions, and she was prepared to exercise caution as needed while simultaneously letting the beast within rear its head and sink its teeth into the flesh and bone that her body had been deprived of.
With a quick glance cast to her right, then a sweep of her gaze to her left, Milena was prepared to set off until the presence of the familiar face and voice she had come to recognize during her time in Sanctuary brought her pace to a halt before she could even step forward. She knew Parnus from the area, but it was not to say they were friendly acquaintances—hardly. He was Vampire, and she, Upyr; their kind conflicted and fought for dominance with dovetailing interests. Needless to say, she—as Duchess—held a feeling of contempt for their kind and their savage ways, but he had not personally crossed her… Yet.
A smirk that mirrored his formed on her blood-red lips as she turned on her heel and folded her arms over her chest. For once, she would humor him, perhaps, but not for long; she was far more inclined to sate her hunger without his interruption barring her from doing so for too long.
“I could say the same to you. . . Pray tell, is there any reason you’re walking here, or are you simply. . . lost?”

                    Different Blood @sovereignofsavagery
His skin itched, a writhing sensation just underneath the surface that refused to go away. He knew it was because of the sun, because by all accounts he was literally working himself to death. But no vampire had feared the sun as fatally as they used to in hundreds of years. It was what was told.
Parnus set down his tools and propped himself up against the wall to wipe sweat from his brow. It was a chilly morning by all accounts, but he had been working on repairs since pseudo-dawn and he ached all over. The more he worked, the more he hungered, and the more he hungered the more he worked. It was dangerous for a hungry vampire to be in the town, as per the fucking bylaws, but he wasn’t going to be the reason all hell broke loose. It was all about control.
He took his waterskin and drank deeply, feeling the liquid fall like heavy air down his throat. It would do him no good, but it was something to do other than sit there and lament about how hard it was to find fresh blood behind the stone that protected humans from the outside world.
Rolling his spine, Parnus felt each and every satisfying crack before gathering his tools in his hands and slipping them back into his belt. He had a little blood left in his hut from the last run he made with the Hunters, and that would have to do. He wiped sweat and grime from his face and made his way through the alleys of haphazard stone blocks to the main town.
It was still too early for anyone to be moving around, though the Farmers were muddling here and there, children were trying to catch glimpses of even a hazy sun behind the Smog, and small household animals paraded their power as though they owned the packed-dirt streets.
To detour Parnus made his way through the Upyr community, head held high over the still sleeping residents of simple thatched houses. His eye caught a glimpse of fire-kissed hair and he snatched a glimpse, smirking as he noticed a watcher in his midst.
“And here I thought your kind were late to rise.” He teased.
Not as late as his, though that was a part of the joke. He turned to Milena, tilting his head to the side and brushing dirty hair from his eyes.

                  Parnus
A Vampire with no memory of his past years or his turning, Parnus seeks only to gain a place in the world that could be different than the one that led to his unfortunate fate.
Gender: Male Species: Vampire Age: estimated 200; appears 37 Location: Sanctuary Occupation: Builder FC: Alexander Skarsgård Sexuality: Bisexual
Parnus is: TAKEN
Biography.
Parnus awoke on the southern tip of former Africa three years ago with no memory of who he was or how he got there. Months of travel and feeding on Infected blood got him to former Europe, where he encountered other Vampire kind who marveled at his strength and speed, proclaiming him much older than any of the other vampires in their Region. He refused to kneel before the Blood King and, for that, was banned from feeding on their grounds. Infected blood kept him weak, to the point of death, but alive. He came upon Sanctuary and asked Keeper Ayanna personally if he would be allowed to enter. Though she was hesitant to give an unaligned Vampire a home, she could never turn down a soul in need and agreed so long as he follow the conditions of the Kings’ emissaries.
Parnus lives alone and works as a Builder for the expansion and fortification of Sanctuary’s walls. He feeds off of mostly infected blood on hunts outside, though some of his neighbors are kind enough to donate their blood to him in small quantities in secret. A strange hunger consumes him, though, that cripples his abilities and makes him yearn for the knowledge of who and what he was before he lost his memories.
Personality.
Positive: helpful, understanding, flirtatious
Negative: vengeful, stubborn, impatient
