I really do not like seeing america creating hoaxes about iran or north korea or russia potentially nuking them when it is the only country in the world to have dropped the atomic bomb

im no big-shot theorist, but my only comment on the r/trans situation is this:
"Dale Spender, in her book ‘Man Made Language’, found that in a mixed-gender group, whether the metric was measured in minutes or words, men always talked more. Furthermore, women’s contributions were viewed as “equally balanced” when women spoke 25% of the time or less. When women spoke as little as 30% of the time or more, they were perceived as dominating the conversation."

This is a point that has already been raised years ago, but it bears repeating: Accusing transfeminized people who use "TMA"/"TME" terminology of "wanting to know what's in people's pants" is (on top of very obviously not being true) an attempt to portray them as sexual predators intent on violating others' boundaries - It is actively, maliciously using transmisogynistic biases against transfeminized people in service of denying that those biases affect transfeminized people qualitatively differently from non-transfeminized people.
It's one of the most sickening rhetorical strategies that those segments of the trans community who wish to preserve and extend their own ability to benefit from transmisogyny have devised.
"Transfeminized people wanting others to acknowledge the power they hold over them makes them sexual deviants" is a near perfect crystallization of anti-transfeminist politics in the trans community.

some appear to believe that washing dishes is basically a ritual action, i.e. the dish reaches a "washed" state once you have performed the actions of dish washing, involving dish soap and sponge, and that your obligation ceases once you have done this, and not at the point at which the dish is actually clean.

“caught in the crossfire” is crazy work when it’s your own reporter and it’s a video where you can just watch the cop aim directly at her and shoot her completely 100% on purpose with your own two eyes

There IS better autism research they could be doing, like trying to discover other medications that help with sensory issues and quality of life problems and trying to get better childhood diagnosis rates for autistic girls. But no, the decades long useless search to find out what causes autism and how to eliminate it continues. The push for “autism research” is never really about how to make things better for autistic people, it’s about how to make autistic people stop existing and that is nottttt possible. But they’ll continue to fixate on it.

if there is an annoying usamerican on your dash, in 99% of cases it's because they aren't one or more of these three things: transfeminist, principled anti-imperialist, copyright abolitionist

I think a lot of autistic taking-things-literally goes under the radar because what the diagnostic tests and shit ask about is not what that generally looks like in an adult and often not in kids either and much more importantly it’s not what generally actually causes problems in real life instead of being irritating for caretakers or funny to bullies or easy to diagnose
I have absolutely no issues understanding metaphors or idioms. When someone says their heart is on their sleeve they mean they’re emotionally expressive and openly display their feelings, not that they have a chunk of cardiac tissue on their shirt. I very rarely have issues with sarcasm. I sometimes have issues telling when someone who’s said something mean is about to say “just kidding”, but tbh I think that’s more on them than me.
BUT
My grandmother asked me “Do you know when the trash was taken out last?” and I said “I think Eliot took it out yesterday” and a few hours later she yelled at me for “not taking out the trash when I asked you to” and I was like???? You didn’t ask me????
I dread filling out forms and am crap at filling out diagnostic tests or personality quizzes because there are always questions I don’t know the exact answers to (how am I supposed to know what day I got dental surgery seven years ago?) or don’t understand exactly what they’re asking or the wording’s unclear and they could mean this or the wording says this but I’m pretty sure what they actually meant was this and should I answer what they said or what they meant, and how does everyone else just whip through the form when surely they can’t know all the answers either? Does everyone else remember the day they got dental surgery seven years ago?
I get tangled up by bureaucracy because the rules on the website say that for this you need that and for that you need the other and for the other you need something else for which you need the first thing, and I go in circles for hours or days or weeks or months or years because their stated rules say there is no way to get what I need, and when I talk to somebody else they’re like “just call them?” and I’m like “how could that help? the rules say that what I’m trying to do is impossible”
And all of that? That’s how “taking things literally” ACTUALLY affects your life as an adult. It’s not “haha you think ‘getting under your skin’ means parasites”. It’s “you have real difficulty functioning in the world because everyone else is conveying things through implication and assuming that you know that rules are flexible and questions are approximate and you’re supposed to lie on job applications, and you don’t”.

One of the more annoying impulses of nominally leftist people living in the Global North (and I say this fully knowing that I have had this impulse in the past) is that they'll see a person from the Global South articulate some pretty obvious fact, like how the current gap in wealth between the two global poles isn't a natural state of affairs but actually the relative privilege of people in the Global North is maintained through exploitation of the Global South... they'll take it personally.
Like, you'll see someone articulate the fact that "hey so actually the fact that people in Finland can have cheap bananas all year round is actually indicative of global inequality and Finnish people's relative privilege over people in the global South" and people will draw the conclusion that the only reason that person would be saying that is because they want to call you a bad person. Therefore, because they called you a bad person, they're actually being mean. And when you think about it by being mean they're actually being the oppressor, and it's only natural that you respond by becoming Megahitler.
Anyway this is another indication of how sometimes people on this site play reactionary opposite day. It's a whole "actually masculinity is demonized" but with global inequality. Like those farmers in South America are the ones who are oppressing us by making coffee so dang expensive. How dare they actually.
