I just finished the first season of Just Add Magic and I knew I would love it, but I was still taken aback by the level of depth and emotional maturity. A magic cookbook could definitely have gone in the silly direction

I made this for my daughter who is turning six tomorrow. We love the show Just Add Magic and watch it together every day. The chest has “magic” spices, measuring spoons, recipes that the protectors sent her, and even her own morbium! (actually a single clove)

My resolution for 2020:
GET JUST ADD MAGIC BIGGER ON TUMBLR!!
This show is amazing and the fact that there’s barely any fanfiction or tumblr content of it out is just saddening…

I watch this Amazon prime series called Just Add Magic. One night I saw an episode called Just Add Birthdays and I kept on thinking of Odd Squad because in this certain episode two characters start acting like six year olds and in one scene, three of the characters are in a ball pit in way that looks almost exactly like the ball pit scene in Life of O'brian. One of the characters' name is Darby O'brian and she has orange hair. It makes me wonder if the show really referenced OS (I doubt it tho)
:O
It’s most likely just a coincidence, but I’d need to actually watch it to make an accurate judgement…

doppelgangers?
Kelly from Just Add Magic looks like a young version of Elena/Vampire Diaries. It’s uncanny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s not just the almost indentical hair style and general coloring. It’s also their mannerisms. Sadly, I don’t know how to gif otherwise I’d have put some uncanny examples.
Maybe some Petrova doppelganger ended up being a witch (witch-adjacent?) in another lifetime.

I’m watching “Just Add Magic” because I am still 1000% a child, and one of these kids just said, “this is Old English - this book is at least 500 years old,” and I’m like FUCK NO it’s at least 850+ YEARS OLD WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU LEARN ABOUT OLD ENGLISH our educational system is BROKE AF
I am not chill even while watching tv, guys.

So, I started watching the kids’ show “Just Add Magic” on Amazon Video last night. Something about it is so compelling.
It’s very much a kids’ show.
Three 7th graders acquire a magic cookbook. Shenanigans ensue. (There’s also a kid with a “food bike” until he can get a food truck, and he doesn’t need magic to cook awesome things.)
In the background, there are all sorts of adults having their own problems, a plot with a spell-trapped grandma that’s a metaphor for living with a senile relative, and a guest appearance by Mira Furlan (who played Delenn in Babylon 5 and basically plays Delenn in this show too).
Is anyone else watching this? Or am I the odd adult out?
