Struggling with the fact that I need partial dentures at 33.

Summer has officially begun.

My sister and niece are staying with us for the summer and the house feels so full ♥️

Are we really about to adopt a child?

Is this real life?

We have a meeting Tuesday to discuss potentially adopting Boo and my mind is just spinning.

Need to figure out all the questions to ask the caseworker.

Boo is on the spectrum and will likely need care for the rest of his life. But he's also only 4 and who knows how his autism will affect him as he grows up.

Kids are seemly on board for a little brother. But we need to discuss more with them of course. Especially as everything becomes more real.

CPS reached out to me today about placement for Boo. Scheduled a meeting Tuesday. AHHHHHH

We move into our new place tomorrow and I am ANTSY

Chopped off all my husband's hair and I'm dangerously in love. Legit can't even look at him without swooning. Someone give me a muzzle.

Asked the kids how they would feel if we had a 4 year old boy come stay with us (like a temporary scenario) and this is how that went.

June :he's gonna talk to much and ask me too many questions because I'm the big sister.

Me: well he actually doesn't know how to talk yet. So.

June: oh. Well sick *throws up metal horns*

CJ: that'd be cool. Like a little brother? I could share my sonic toys and my room with him

Me: you'd share your room?

CJ: yeah and I'd share my Gregory (our dog)

Me: what about your mommy? Do you think you could share me with another little boy?

CJ: YEAH! and I'd share my big sister and my bed!

I know they don't fully understand the whole concept. But what a nice first introduction to the whole situation.

The whole foster situation is really weighing on me. We agreed to at least talk to the CPS caseworker and see what they had to say, but can't make promises.

I don't believe my friend(if we want to call her that) will ever get custody back if her kids. And I don't really think she should either. There's a very high chance the child will become available for adoption. So we really have to take that into consideration.

It's hard because I've struggled with wanting us to have a third child but the pregnancy window feels closed. And while the situation isn't ideal, suddenly there's a window of opportunity for us to add another child to our family. And it's like, do we really think we can open that door and let another child into our lives? One that's not our blood? We've talked about it (fostering/adopting) before but my husband has doubts of being a good parent to another. And we've obviously been in no place to afford anything like that? If we were to go the traditional route somewhere down the line, the age gap continues to grow.

I just keep staring at the pictures and watching the videos of him and man.. it pulls at my heart.

We don't even know how it would work with us being in another state and don't know if we qualify or even have the room in our home (like if they need their own room, we don't have that luxury) but maybe the CPS worker will give us a call and we can get some answers. At least hear them out. Because everything she says seems sketchy and I don't know what I believe.

All I know is there's a 4 year old boy that's floating around fostercare and is needing a home. And a home we have indeed.

Talked to someone who's gone through the system (fostered and adopted two children here in Illinois) said it sounds like it would be a permanent situation so we'd need to discuss if we're willing to adopt before we agree to fostering. Alot to think over !

I have a friend asking me to foster one of her kiddos while she's going through some legal shit and I'm 🫣 considering it. Don't even know if it's possible because we're in Illinois and they're in Texas. She's got an 11yo girl, 4yo boy 2yo boy and 1 yo girl. 11 yo would be ~easiest~ for us being that she's school age. But CPS would cover any childcare costs. So really I suppose we could take any of them. 4yo is autistic and gets full time ABA. Which I work in the field so that doesn't deter me from caring for him. 2 and 1 yo would probably be the toughest to care for. But I doooo love me some babies. UGH ALOT to think about. We're kind of open to it though. Help someone not lose rights to their children. 🤷 It's all very conflicting and Im already losing sleep over it thinking it all over.

I have major deportation anxiety.

My husband is a citizen but by default from his mom getting citizenship when he was a minor. He was born in Mexico, came to U.S. when he was 2 and got citizenship when he was 13 (I think. Maybe 14)

Ive got so much anxiety that they're going to start taking away citizenship or something. Or that he will just be deported even though he's a citizen.

His family has a whole house available for us in Mexico if we needed to move. Which is great. But the fact that his family in Mexico is preparing for it because THEYRE worried about us here, freaks me out.

I got a new security camera for the new house after seeing a video where a woman only knew her husband was deported after her ring camera caught ICE taking him from their home while she was at work 😰

We're working on getting all his paperwork so we have it on hand just in case anything ever happens. But sheesh. I'm just so anxious always lately. Thank goodness we don't live in Texas anymore or id be even more on high alert. BLEH
