Safety First, Safety Always

Safety is our top priority. We constantly observe our games being used to obtain feedback for increased enjoyment and safety. In addition, before every usage our games are thoroughly inspected and cleaned to make sure they are safe, attractive and ready for your event. We staff your events with trained and insured personel to ensure safe enjoyment for everybody. Generally, this is not a service you will encounter without a large added expense.

Insurance

Many companies may save money by not having the proper insurance for your event. We carry three policies: Liability, Workers Compensation, and Commercial Truck Insurance. If you hire a company that lacks one of these coverages, you may be putting yourself at legal risk. Feel free to ask us for certificates that show we maintain these policies.

Planner Tip - November 2010

Hospitality:  The relationship between guest and host, or the act or practice of being hospitable.  Specifically, this includes the reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers, resorts, membership clubs, conventions, attractions, special events, and other services for travelers and tourists.

Another, more simple definition is the business of providing catering, lodging and entertainment service; the act or service of welcoming, receiving, hosting, and/or entertaining guests.

Well folks, what a better time of year than now to show Hospitality.  We are in the hospitality industry and what a wonderful industry it is.  Do you ever think about what we do for a living?...we help make life fun and enjoyable, at least for one day and help produce happy and joyful memories for years to come…HOW COOL IS THAT?!!

This is our job, this is our charge, this is our duty…so let’s do the absolute best we can.  Let’s ROCK the WORLD of our clients and make them and their guests, our guests HAPPY…GIDDY even!!!...at least for that one night we are part of their lives.

With that said, isn’t this the time of year to be hospitable?...to reach out to family, friends, clients, and strangers…

I’ve said this before, but what an absolutely beautiful time of year this is. This is a time to be truly thankful for all the blessings we have…family, friends, our country. And, of course, our industry? Again, how awesome is it to be in an industry that provides fun, enjoyment, and beauty to people all over the world? I thank God every day for the job I have, for the industry I’m a part of, for all of you. I hope you all do too.

Let’s also thank God for our country and the men and women who serve it…those putting their lives on the line to keep us free, to keep us safe. They deserve our prayers, our respect, our support, especially at this time of year.

And, nothing’s more important than our families and our friends. How special are they? Treasure the time you have with them…life is short, don’t miss the chance to tell them you love them and how much they mean to you.

Planner Tip - August 2010

We’re baaaaack!  Hey everyone…did you miss us?...don’t lie, I know you did.  Well, sorry for the lack of correspondence.  It’s been kinda busy (a good thing) and I’ve been on the road a lot.  However, I did notice, that there are some really good newsletters making the rounds…check out Extraordinary Events Good News-Paper sometime…some really cool stuff in there…I never miss Chris Clark’s Feel Good Recipe!!!...mmm mmm mmm!

Those of you who have read some of my planner tips in the past know that sometimes they have nothing to do with the special event industry--this is one of those times.

I’ve had some things happen in my life this year that have caused me to stop and reassess things to a degree. First, my father passed away this April. He was almost 91 years old. He had lived a long, extremely fruitful and meaningful life. He had been declining in health for a while and was confined to a wheelchair, but was still lucid and rolling around the health facility in which he lived.  In fact, one time they had to take his new motorized chair away from him because he was speeding around like he was a NASCAR driver!!!  Anyway, he fell out of bed one night and was taken to the hospital for stitches. Well, they found that he had pneumonia and sepsis and didn’t give him much of a chance. I went to the hospital that morning, and he was pretty much out of it but knew I was there. As the week went on, he got better, and at the end of the week, he was sitting up and taking solid food, even demanding that he get the green Jell-O rather than the red!!!  I went to visit him and we sat and watched the Masters Golf Tournament for a while. He had introduced me to golf when I was a kid and we used to play all the time. It was just great to sit there with him...real quality time.  Before I left, I told him I loved him…it was the last time I saw him alive. He died a few days later. What was so important to me was that I had that time with him, and I was able to tell him how much I loved him.

His memorial service was a couple weeks later at Rolling Hills Covenant Church…a church that started in the living room of my mom and dad’s first house.  I don’t have enough room to summarize my dad’s life but, for those of you who might be interested, I’ve attached a link to the summary from the memorial service…the link will be up through December…

Friends and family from all over the country attended the service. It was AWESOME!!!... to see and hear from so many people he touched during his life, including some of my best friends was truly beautiful and inspiring. 

My point in telling you all this?... It’s how wonderful family and friends are. How blessed we are to have them. Over the years, I have, at times, taken them for granted, kind of thinking they’ll always be there so, no real need to tell them how I feel about them. Well, it took the passing of my father to bring me back to reality. Guess what?...They won’t always be there.  Life is short and fragile, but so wonderful. It is made ever more so by the family and friends we have. They are so precious. Please tell them how you feel. Tell them that you love them, believe me, you won’t regret it.

Now, the second, far less meaningful thing that happened was that I turned 50! Can you believe that? But you know what? I love life. I love every minute of it. I love this company, this industry and I thank you all for being a part of it, and a part of my life.  However, that being said, if I seem a little slow in getting out of the car, or walking up the stairs at the next ISES or MPI meeting, give an old guy a hand will you?...but ALWAYS remember "Old Guys Rule!"
