my personal assistant who’s the geeky guy from national treasure: uh buddy, you’re not gonna believe this
me: so they’ve found me. Get in the car beautiful, it’s time we blow this popsicle stand

The brain does not magically mature at 25. Actual neuroscientists note some 8-year-olds even have a greater "maturation index" than 25-year-olds. The myth misunderstands basic neuroscience but is still used for anti-trans policymaking like the Cass Report. https://slate.com/technology/2022/11/brain-development-25-year-old-mature-myth.html

I really like what this physicist, Lamar Glover, has to say in Behind the Curve.

Wait sorry guys I just remembered when I texted my mom asking for advice on a paper/research I was conducting (something like, what are some questions I can ask about this topic?) and she sent me back a copy and pasted list of suggestions generated by ChatGPT
Ever since I’ve become more grown up I’ve learned to appreciate and admire how intelligent my mother is and so I’ve enjoyed rambling to her about the essays I’m writing for school and the intellectual debates I have in lectures, and I think this moment was just such a random kick to the gut for her to not reciprocate the academic level of connection I was trying to make with her?
at the very least there is definitely a poem somewhere here about the dwindling relationship between a mother and child through a man vs machine metaphor

I do get some retribution knowing I will be much more creatively and emotionally fulfilled from making art with my original ideas compared to some jerk off who uses 100% of his brain power to press buttons on his image generator website and play with his penis all day, but unfortunately I don’t think it’s enough retribution when it’s the latter person who’s making thousands of $$$ a month by selling his ai images to social media— and I don’t know what’s worse, the idea of gullible people being tricked into believing these images or the audience actually being closer to a sea of bots who will make ai into ai and widen the dead internet.
At least a human person can interpret an image, whether “real” or not, into tangible emotions that illicit genuinely crafted thoughts and speech; the alternative I imagine is computer wires being sewn together and forcing an equation to keep multiplying, not being allowed to finalize a solution, not knowing there is such a thing that comes before infinity.
