according to nikola’s research, each degree is connected to the sign it rules: 

aries degrees — 1º, 13º, 25º - taking action, fighting spirit, not giving oneself up to fate, struggle, war, can indicate abuse, labor, diligence, leadership, beginnings, etc

taurus degrees — 2º, 14º, 26º - money, food, the earth, stability, luxuries, voice, singing, etc

gemini degrees — 3º, 15º, 27º - communication, gadgets like televisions or phones, self-expression, books, siblings, neighbourhood, etc

cancer degrees — 4º, 16º, 28º - home, nurture, traditions, loyalty, faith, mother, water, etc

i’m going to give an example that he talked about in his website that i found simple to understand yet powerful. when nikola was discussing with another astrologer, he wanted to talk about his degree theory, so he took a look at the birth chart of the wife of the other astrologer, and after a minute of analyzing it, he said as follows: “Your wife called a carpenter to the house and ordered a larger bed to be made. When the carpenter had finished the job, you went to bed and realized that the work was not properly done. One measure was right – the bed was long enough - but the other one wasn’t – the bed wasn’t wide enough, it was still narrow”. the look the other astrologer gave him told him that his brief analysis was absolutely correct.

his reasoning behind it was that the wife’s 12th house (which rules sleeping, beds, bedrooms) cusp began at the 21º of aries, and the ruler of that house, mars, was at the 6º in virgo. aries simbolizes to create and the 21º, a sagittarius degree, simbolizes to enlarge. so, his wife wanted to create (aries) a larger (sagittarius/jupiter) bed (the 12th house). because mars, the ruler of the 12th house, was placed in virgo (someone who renders services, a worker), she called the carpenter to the house. her mars was, however, in virgo at the 6º which is a virgo degree (virgo simbolizes diminishing, making smaller), which meant the measure of the bed had to be smaller than needed. therefore, the cusp of the 12th house (the bed) at the 21º (sagittarius - larger, longer) signifies that the bed was both long enough (enlarged), and mars in virgo at a virgo degree (6º) meant that it was not wide enough (it was narrow). nikola established connections between degrees, the signs, the planets and the houses where they fell and the aspects that they made in order to make this kind of predictions. 

he also found a few degrees to be connected to significant things. 

THE 2º DEGREE - SUPREME POWER 

nikola, through the research of the birth charts of many people throughout history, observed how those who contained planets, houses and aspects (+lunar nodes, arabic parts, vertex and of course, the four cardinal points: the IC, MC, AC and DC) in the 2º degree were those who made remarkable achievements, who wielded extreme power and were highly respected. he got to this conclusion by analyzing the birth chart of queen victoria - other rulers at the time had more powerful aspects than she did, but allas, they weren’t the ones to almost rule the entire world - it was her, so he began noticing the pattern between power and the 2º. literal jesus himself had his mercury in pisces in the 2º. i myself have four degrees at 2º, so it’s nice to know my dreams of starting a revolution, overthrowing the government and achieving world domination are supported by the astros

THE 5º DEGREE - EROTICISM 

this degree is connected to beauty, desire, sex appeal, receiving sexual attention. many sex icons like marilyn monroe, jean harlow and mata hari had it present in their birth chart. nikola talks about this being the best degree in his eyes. considering that it’s a leo degree, it’s all about living, having fun and enjoying life. 

THE 11º DEGREE - DIVORCE / SUICIDE 

both the 11º and 23º degrees of aquarius indicate divorce, but, according to nikola, the 11º is connected to suicide.

THE 15º DEGREE - CAR ACCIDENTS 

this degree, when connected to scorpio + the 8th house, can indicate car accidents.  

THE 18º DEGREE - PURE EVIL 

simbolizes a bad destiny. to nikola, this is the worst degree you can have. it can indicate rare deseases, tragic accidents. he says there’s no good about this degree but i absolutely disagree. not to be a hopeless optimist or to pretend to possess half the knowledge that he does but i think it’s pretentious to assume that a degree is literally all bad and that there’s nothing we can do about it — that takes away from our free will and our inner strength. Many, many people have this degree present in their charts (i believe nikola had it himself), it’s all about facing hardships but, well, that’s life.

THE 22º DEGREE - TO KILL OR BE KILLED 

nikola has found this degree in the birth charts of murderers + people that were murdered. his significance of “to kill or be killed” is quite literal. now, i want to remind you that this is the worst case scenario and that this degree can manifest itself in many diferent ways - just like the 18º and the 8º. the death can be figurative. for example, donald trump’s chart: he has his sun in 22º, and his mercury in 8º - and I’m afraid he’s quite alive at his old age and kicking it, even if he’s suffered a public destruction. @saintzjenx in her degree theory post talked about how this placement can also indicate abandonment. i agree, i have my sun at 22º in the 10th house (the house of the father) and my father was very emotionally absent + physically as well (his work has him working at other cities during the entire week) 

THE 29º DEGREE - CLAIRVOYANCE/PROGNOSTICISM

hey, it's me :-) I haven't had time to make the detailed posts I want to, so here are some things I've been noticing in my studies lately

sun in the 7th house/sun opposite ascendant is a dangerous placement for someone to have, as you might risk becoming overly dependent on your relationship status/your partner and co-dependent dynamics. you discover yourself through relationships, but always remember that the knowledge remains even when your partner is gone and you'll always have yourself.

neptune in the 8th people have no boundaries. point blank. it might even be something you're not aware of, but people can easily take advantage of your energy and suck the life out of you. please analyze your relationship dynamics more closely.

sun conjunct north node people usually have a big ego since they know they're on this planet for a reason, there's no "oh why was I born" shit. the danger is leaning completely into the sign they're in and ignoring your south node completely. balance is power.

being a capricorn moon, i have a famous love for my fellow saturn-ruled aquarius moons, but the closer i get the more i see how different we are. repressing my feelings is a conscious thing for me; i know i'm an emotional wreck but people do not, and i'm always mistaken for a stone-cold bitch (not something I try to change though). aquarius moons, though... you guys project such a friendly/open (not exactly warm or intimate) exterior and people often mistake you as more emotional than you really are. you try to rationalize emotions rather than feel them, as inwardly, unlike me, you're pretty detached and cool.

Mercury Conjunct Lilith

(disclaimer: these notes are purely based from personal experience combined with thorough research, in case it doesn't resonate.)

Let's get to know the placement that has twisted my arm for as long as I can remember.

Below are notes, an introduction to how this specific aspect could manifest in a person. Most of the notes are going to sound generic and obvious, simply because not every specific person experiences the same specific things. Each person will have their own liliths conjuncting their own mercuries, in their own houses, in their own specific charts. If you'd like to add anything then I'd be happy to humor you. The more the merrier or whatever santa said.

impulsive, passionate, misunderstood, unorthodox, outspoken, black sheep.

This natal aspect often refers to a person who likes to read, and depending on whether or not the topic is of their interest, they tend to have perfect memory of whatever their eyes are processing.

For very obvious reasons, natives with this aspect often feel misunderstood and because of this, they might find it hard to accept whenever they have to take responsibility for their actions.

(they just don't understand.)

Lilith influences mercury to be a little more impulsive, to give into the beast inside, to just live a little. The native is often tempted to give into the instant gratification of appeasing their unusually strong curiosity for whatever catches the natives attention.

People with this aspect are creative and have rather dynamic imaginations. When both parties are well aspected, it could indicate photographic memory (as I've previously insinuated) and might even go as far as clairaudience, which wouldn't be that surprising seeing as lilith is a woman of instinct. Honing these instincts would help the person significantly. (Though instincts and intuition are two different things FHSJSJ)

On the other hand, if it's harshly aspected then it very clearly fucks you up. Morally so. It grants the person a hard time with concentration and on a more severe note, might impede on the person's speech abilities. Hard aspects may also give the native a more.. "crooked" logic. Contorted and marred.

These natives are - more often than not - unconventional. They learn through unique and unorthodox ways and are usually not the type to go by the book. However, the native may have been shamed for it while growing up or they were ashamed of the difference they had with their peers.

This is merely a thought but if Virgo and/or Saturn is involved then the person with this placement might have been harsh on themselves for not being able to stick with the "norm".

Ultimately, all natives with this aspect all come to one conclusion, and that is to acknowledge and accept their rough individuality. As a child they may have seen this as a weakness but as time goes on, the native will soon accept this as a strength. This acceptance will quite literally save their ass.

This aspect makes a person passionate and maybe even powerful if used right. As I've mentioned, Lilith is a woman of instinct. I have nothing more to say other than that.

Of course, as with all things in life, no one is good the first time. The native may be blessed but it would end up feeling more of a curse as they start out in their journey.

It's a beautiful tragedy.

Moving on, this aspect often frowns at superficiality which is understandable considering how genuinely passionate these people can be. The idea of playing niceties to acquiesce certain people is something that makes them cringe to the bone. Although that isn't to say that these natives are rude.

They're civil and well-mannered, despite their rash and straightforward nature. They would rather let the person be aware that they're not going to kiss their ass (respectfully) rather than kiss their ass (disrespectfully).

With Mercury being paired with Lilith, this makes the person bolder in their communication. I've previously stated, these people are passionate and it clearly shows in the way they communicate. Verbally and in a written manner. Due to the passion that they willingly show, the public may see them as "wild" and in my vernacular, "unhinged."

Although this only, mostly, happens when the person is expressing their raw emotions without fail. It will be overwhelming to some. But "overwhelming" is what's normal to the native.

With practice of course, the way these natives express themselves will soon be described as "composed insanity." No matter how proper they express themselves, there will always be this "off" feeling to others.

Lilith is quite feral, you simply can't hide her. She's proud of who she is.

Quite impulsive too, which is why these natives will instantly drop things when they feel a certain pull towards something. Paired with their profound curiosity (which is probably why Mercury gives in, he can't handle the temptation of new information), this placement can make you look dumb if you're not careful.

Another obvious note with this placement is manipulation. With Mercury-Lilith aspects, this seems to be a common theme. Understandably so. Lying comes easy to them as Lilith likes to tease and Mercury doesn't back down from a challenge.

But this is where we have to take into consideration the sign and house that lilith is placed in. I would like to use mine as an example. Lilith conjuncts my Mercury in the 5th house of Leo.

Narcissism, Pride, Self-Expression, Hobbies, Affairs, Sexuality (with a 5th house saturn i wonder what this means for me)

These are themes you would think of when it comes to Leo and the 5th house. This is how you represent the placement.

Another example would be Scorpio Lilith conjunct Mercury in the 8th house. These people would probably find that their Mercury-Lilith aspect is something that surprises people which is probably because it's in the 8th house. Or they could choose to keep it hidden, simply not talk about it.

With Scorpio and the 8th house involved, the native is bound to be cunning, sly, and ultimately more Plutonic. They have the power to transform a person with their words. Alternatively, these people could also experience destruction and rebirth through their own thoughts alone.

The pattern goes on with every sign and house, it's up to you on how you interpret it.

Mercury in Gemini

It takes a lot for me to stop talking once engaged in good conversation. I could think of different topic possibilities at 1000 mph to the point where the person I'm talking to couldn't catch up.

I also like putting a touch of humor when I'm speaking. I always do a lot of hand gestures, impersonations, or go the extra mile by using self-deprecating humor to see someone laugh.

Sometimes it borders on showboating and feels like I'm taking out all the air in the room. It seems as if I never want to listen. It's not that I don't want to, I'm simply excited to share my thoughts. I have no bad intentions whatsoever. Even if that's the case, I still don't know what people think of me. Am I irritating? Selfish? I wouldn't know, so I try to calculate my moves as much as I can.

And because of this habit, my communication tends to be unclear. I have a lot of things to say. In my head I got it all planned, but in the middle of it I start to think of new concepts and make connections I haven't even thought before. Most of the time, I can't express these well for audiences. My nerves then get the best of me. I start assuming a lot of things. What if I sound stupid? I don't want people to think I know nothing. I just really want things to be perfect deep down but I'm having a hard time making it so.

Venus in Aries

I don't like boring people. I like someone who knows how to surprise me. Talk to me about anything. Let's go on a roadtrip, bathe under the rain, go on a treasure hunt. You name it, I'm in!

Unlike other people probably with a mushy approach to relationships, my way is the complete opposite. Don't expect excessive endearments. I'd put up mini banters then reconcile through playful teasing. Hell, I could even put up a wrestling match. My approach can be very childish. Turned off? I'll gladly move on to the next. I won't waste my time.

Some posts on the Internet say this placement is dangerous, impulsive, and self-centered in love. I am actually a loyal person. I'll treat you like royalty. It must have been chance that I was pursuing someone who didn't fit my standards and failed to amuse me for the most part. I genuinely value honesty and respect. If you can't have that, what's the point of building a relationship? I just know what I want so if I don't see the same fire in someone, adios.

I'm aware some people don't have the same outlook as me. From past relationship experiences, strifes were unavoidable. Hopefully in the near future, I have fully understood the balancing act of the opposing energies in this placement. It doesn't hurt to be gentle and patient. Take a leap of faith. If I get hurt in the end, I'll bounce back and remind myself of my worth.

Mars in Sagittarius (Rx)

I have a strong determination to succeed, but it comes inconsistently. I can get really unpredictable. There is always a feeling of wanting to do something but can't because I don't feel I have enough energy to follow through. It's so frustrating to get stuck in a vicious cycle where I decided to give up even if I haven't started yet.

The only thing consistent was me comparing my achievements to other people. It distorted my view of self. No matter how many people compliment me on something, I'll feel as if they're doing it out of politeness. I started placing doubts on people. Everyone is a potential enemy. It doesn't feel right, but rationality gets thrown out the window when insecurities take over.

The question left is would I rather have war or wisdom? Should I rely on aggressiveness alone? Will it do me good in the long run? Or should I redirect my energies to rewire my thinking into something that benefits myself and other people? What can I actually do?

Having a Mars retrograde is not all bad. It forces me to think before I act. Start going beyond what I see. Realize that I'm the only one setting the restrictions. I have the freedom to follow what I want. I could always be different without hurting other people. Anybody can say whatever they want, just don't try to force me into doing something I'm not keen to, especially if it involves my aspirations. It's a pet peeve.

Nonetheless, the Sagittarian attributes taught me how to find my inner child and that the only person I can ultimately rely on is myself.
