this is a post that i hate to have to make, and at least didn't think i would have to make so soon, but this is my post as a tribute to Auxiliary, who passed two days ago
im not exactly sure what happened with him, just that over the last few months he had been struggling with eating and moving a lot. however I still did not expect to come home and find him dead in his tank. i immediately checked the parameters and checked the water and put preventative meds in the tank since there is another axolotl in the tank. my best guess though is possibly a neurological issue due to some conditions that were present from the store he came from that I had suspected throughout his years, or some sort of cancer or thyroid issue.
regardless, auxiliary was my buddy ho I got to enjoy for 6 1/2 years. he was such a special pet, and most of my family and friends knew him and asked about him regularly because he was such an iconic guy. he kick-started my interests into fishkeeping and axolotls. he may not have had personified feelings and behaviors, but i enjoyed taking care of him and he actively made me happy. he taught me a lot that i hope I can continue with by keeping my other axolotls healthy and happy from the start
not sure what im going to do now in his presence in terms of getting another axolotl or not, i have to figure out about possibly moving the current ones around so that I could raise a baby again. but regardless, auxiliary will remain an icon who I will greatly miss and never forget
This is one of my oldest fish. I've had him since my original 10gal at 13 years old making him 15 or so. A male clown pleco who's been through all my rookie mistakes and forgiven me for every one of them. He has a huge group of clowns in his 120 now.
