Now that there has been a ceasefire (really a reduction in assaults, there have still been incidents of israeli agression), WE NEED to support our Palestinian friends in moving forward in the way THEY CHOOSE.
One such person is my friend @samah-2 who is an absolute sweetheart. She has a whole family that she looks after and their home has been decimated from the war. Unfortunately the aftermath is VERY expensive for Palestinian families. Please help Samah and her family on their journey to a free Palestine and their own goals and self-determination. Show up now more than ever. I have linked her gfm. If we can raise 2k by the time this poll closes, that would be amazing.

Listen, if a Bad President can come in and take away our rights and we're dependent on a Good President replacing them in four years to give us back our rights, then we do not have any rights.
If politicians can take or distribute them, then they're not "inalienable" and they're not "rights."
We don't have inalienable rights we have conditional privileges, divvied out according to the whims of whoever currently holds the reins.
And if we want to have actual rights, then we must build a system in which no one has the power to take them away to begin with.

I fucking agree with Farron on this. Us fighting each other over who was right and who was wrong is fucking stupid.
The people who didn't vote, y'all made a gamble, and it made things worse, your lack of voting played a part in this, fucking own it. HOWEVER, y'all are right that Biden and Harris helped continue this fucking mess that has been going on historically for years, and if none of them started this shit, Trump wouldn't be able to escalate it.
Democrats, we need to admit that our party has been pandering to the Republicans for far too long, we need to admit that we let them oust Bernie Sanders and thus caused this shit to happen. We also need to admit that we need to start pushing for more progressive policies and not care about what Republicans think. HOWEVER, we are correct in that it's better to have someone who's arm we can twist until it breaks to get what we want done.
But fighting each other over this is stupid. What's done is done. The only thing we can do right now is figure out how to come together and do whatever we can to fight against Trump and his plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza.

So, for those who refused to vote for Kamala Harris because of Gaza:
How’s that going?
It’s going exactly as I expected.
I get Harris wasn’t inspiring to many. She turned off a lot of people for a lot of different reasons. But she at least wanted a cease fire, and so did other Democrats. Republicans were clearly fine with razing it, killing thousands, and turning the rest into traumatized refugees so they could do what they wanted with the land. They made it pretty clear. Trump made it clear during his first term he hated Muslims and brown people. Why would anyone think he’d help them in any way?
Don’t judge a politician by anything except their record. Check what they say and do when they think no one is paying attention. And don’t judge based on a single issue or action. Look at the whole.
There were no truly good options. Israel is basically a militarized colony of the U.S., smack in the middle of a resource rich area over which the politicians want influence. Few politicians are going to jeopardize that by defunding Israel, pushing for a two state solution, or risking Israel finding support elsewhere (I’m sure Russia and China would jump all over that chance, plus many others).
But dammit, there was a choice that was at least a bit better than what they got! 😞

For those outside of America going "why don't you fight back" or "don't you guys know what's going on?" let me explain something to you.
We know.
There is nothing a lot of us can do right now.
We are either minorities surrounded by Trump supporters or struggling to make ends meet or (most likely) both.
These first few days are designed to exhaust us. It's the same tactic he used during his first administration. Overwhelm the media and the masses so that the more sinister things he does gets swept under the rug.
And honestly, a lot of us are checked out because we spent the last four years warning people about a second term because our lives were on the line and those we thought cared about us proved they didn't.
And now we're just trying to find some sort of semblance of happiness in this joyless world we're now living in. We fight when we can, we bring attention to what we can, but a lot of us are just fucking exhausted.
So please, cut us some slack. We've been fighting for the last eight years, we still have to fight for the next four.
Right now, survival is the only rebellion we have.

Everyone keeps saying "four years" as if we are not living in a christo fascist oligarchic dictatorship now. I envy your optimism and naivety.
It's been three days since I originally posted this and I'm here to say
I fucking told y'all
