if you don't do anything else today,
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.
white people CAN interact with this post. share it, spread it.

Second verse, same as the first!
A little bit louder and a whole lot worse!
So y'all may or may not remember that around this time last year I had a huge dental procedure and an equally huge bill for it.
Yeah, turns out the dentist's office fucked up my total when they handed it to me and six months later, they tell me I still owe about $3,000.
On top of that, a month later I had one of my four remaining molars crack and about a third of the damn thing sheared clean off of where it was apparently already mostly filling.
So I'm looking at $3,100 in debt (because they were kind enough to pause the interest on their fuck up for all of three months), as much as $1,700 for the fillings I need, and as much as another $2,000 to fix the busted molar.
Needless to say, I've put the GoFundMe back up. Same drill as before, every dollar helps and every reblog counts.

Having a traumatic childhood means you cannot talk even objectively about your basic foundational experiences without it being "venting", even if you're not actually venting. You just straight up have a huge chunk of your life you can't talk about, full stop, without it being trauma dumping.
And it not being socially acceptable to talk about your own childhood is super alienating. Sometimes people want to know why, and any answer you can give them is going to be off putting.
It's to the point I get irritated when something I said is framed as venting when I'm literally just talking about my life experiences, doing my best to keep emotion out of it.

“Jobless behavior” when referring to people who are absolutely deranged on the internet is so far removed from reality like I guarantee you most people who are obsessively unhinged have a job that is driving them to become absolutely insane because they are miserable and likely don’t have the energy to do much outside of whatever outlet they’re using to take their frustrations out on the internet. Employed behavior

Honestly, y'all, I'm begging you. Take the time to think and learn for yourself. Even if it's just something casual like knitting or cooking. Exercise your brain. It's important.
