February 2024, we took a trip down to Arizona to soak in some much needed sunshine. This time around, rather than driving, we left the dogs at home and flew down to maximize our time down south (special thanks to our family dog-sitters!).
We flew into Tucson and spent the first couple days catching up with friends. Last year, I (Pat) made a couple riding buddies at a local mountain bike trail in Tacoma. Several months later, they moved to Tucson and linked up with some old friends of ours. It was really nice to reunite with everyone and even get some biking in together. Oh, and we ate Karamelo King two days in a row...
The next couple days, we stayed at the El Conquistador resort and did a little exploring around Tucson. We checked out Saguaro National Park and caught up with some old friends over some pickleball at a bar downtown. Before we left town, we had a nice stroll through the Tucson Botanical Garden.
For the last few days of the trip, we stayed with my parents and did a few things around Phoenix. We had a blast demoing some e-MTBs at South Mountain and had a chance to catch up with a couple friends and their daughter at Peter Piper Pizza. On our last day, I got to play soccer with my dad and his pickup group. While waiting for our flight, we caught the first Sounders game of the season, then flew back to rainy Washington.

Had a great time in Seattle this weekend. Checked out a little bit of University Ave and had some tasty hand-pulled Chinese noodles. Afterwards, we had a couple drinks at the rooftop bar at The Mountaineering Club, saw @theelovaters @schwayze and @clairewrightmusic at the Neptune Theater, then went to a late-night kebab place. The next morning we ate some dim sum then headed back to Tacoma.

Had the most wonderful time celebrating our anniversary on a 10 day road trip through some new areas of BC. Camping, hiking, biking, breweries, and wineries with both pups and our trailer.
Our wedding was on summer solstice 2018 and due to life and a pandemic, we never ended up taking a honeymoon trip. After much deliberation, we decided to take our honeymoon as a road trip to Canada. Some of our most memorable experiences together have been from trips just like this one. We made lots of new memories and discovered some places that we want to revisit- all within a 1 day drive from home.
… now we can finally say we took our honeymoon ✅

2023 Arizona Trip
Part 2: After a week in Phoenix, we went down to Tucson for a few days to catch up with old friends, eat some tasty food, and do some exploring. After Tucson, we spent a few more days in Phoenix with Pat's parents, then left Arizona to begin our trek back north. We made couple nights stop in Las Vegas to visit Pat's sister, then drove to a remote area of northern Nevada to camp for a night. Then we drove clear through Oregon and back home to Tacoma, WA.

2023 Arizona Trip
Part 1: Decided to take a trip to Arizona to get a little break from the PNW winter. Did a stop and go in Glenns Ferry, ID then drove to Valley of Fire State Park, NV where we spent a couple days soaking in some sun and doing some hiking. When we woke up to leave Nevada and drive to Arizona, we were surprised with a nice dusting of snow.
We drove from Valley of Fire State Park to Phoenix to stay with Pat's parents for a bit. We spent about a week working remotely in the mornings and hanging out in the afternoons. We enjoyed the nice desert weather with some hiking and mountain biking before heading down to Tucson for a few days.

Finally got around to putting together a short video from a weekend camping trip in June 2022.
Drove over Chinook Pass to the Little Naches Campground. Had a nice site next to the river that was raging from the recent snowmelt. First afternoon was a little rainy, but it cleared up overnight. The next day we did a hike up Edgar Rock then drove into Yakima to check out Tieton Cider Works. Overall it was a nice weekend getaway to ring in the late arrival of spring.

Happy Gotcha Day Rosie! Can’t believe it’s been 6 years. Here’s a few photos from this past year (2022), and also some from her first year with us (2016). The last pic is Rosie’s mugshot from the shelter. What a long way she’s come. #rescuedog #ohrosiepup https://www.instagram.com/p/CmBFNIauADR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
