I feel this is often just a desire to be witnessed that runs into an expectation of dismissal, and tries to protect itself accordingly. All the things you do display a kind of emotional truth, if nothing else. Presenting that as an argument gives the emotional truth a hard shell, and it veils what you're actually asking for, which might be as shallow as tolerance or as deep as comfort.

Theres a common argument that goes like "how can you say the threat I fear isn't real, look at all the things I do to protect myself from it!" And it's not clear how you even counter it. Except just saying "I think you are bad at assessing risk"

Hi I'm a trans man who's been homeless over a year (+left an abusive relationship a few months ago). I desperately need help, please (including any advice, especially for $/housing).

I've been having a lot of trouble finding work. My IDs are also all messed up, and my bank is in another state. I have a case manager helping me sort things out, but there are a lot of dead ends.

I currently have a room for the weekend (Fri afternoon to the morning of Mon May 6). I stayed outside last night, + have been increasingly.

I like the Cyndi Lauper version of this a lot, her voice in the chorus has incredible heart and her cadence is really interesting. Her version's a slow buildup of passion, the sense of obsession is a background hum, it's more internal. Roy's is like an avowal with that beat, it's intoxicated, it has this breathless momentum that to me utilizes the lyrics better. In her version, "is that alright?" is not as important. In Roy's, it's an essential line; it keeps this obsession anchored in love, where it could sound creepy. The guy drove all night and it's you he worries about. I think he repeats the line because he's aware of that aspect.

Really funny and strange moment when a guy in a discord was talking about punching cinderblocks as a kid with rage issues, and someone said it's funny people are so different, there's no way [path-forbidden]'s ever done anything like that. Reminded me of my old doctor assuring me she knew I'd never be violent while I was thinking about forearm choking her. Is it just the white woman experience, or does my voice radiate nonviolence

Like I really do want to leave room for complex identities, a lot of us have shifting and zigzagging relationships to gender when social context and embodiment change. But a little sensitivity toward us would really go a long way here.

I'll be honest man, the undercurrent of trans guys etc wanting to be us and wield our perceived authority and perceived positive visibility is a little too much right now. See: the recent push to invent a trans man counterpart to transmisogyny to turn the whole idea into a he said/she said. If you wanna say something like "transmasc woman", I get you, but if you're gonna go around straight calling yourself a "trans woman", that is going to raise my hackles.

I have seen way too much extreme bad faith in that area. That phrase is currently most of what we have to describe a particular relationship to systems of power. "Transfem" being most the rest, and god knows I've seen that one used too. Really think in the modern day you can find some new language for this one.
