the unexpected bryozoan
820 posts
You are a worm though time. The thunder song distorts you. Happiness comes. White pearls, but yellow and red in the eye. Through a mirror, inverted is made right. Leave your insides by the door. Push the fingers through the surface into the wet. You’ve always been the new you. You want this to be true. We stand around while you dream. You can almost hear our words but you forget. This happens more and more now. You gave us the permission in your regulations. We wait in the stains. The word that describes this is redacted. Repeat the word. The name of the sound. It resonates in your house. After the song, time for applause. We build you till nothing remains. The egg cracks and the truth will emerge out of you. You are home. You remind us of home. You’ve taken your boss with your boss with you. All hair must be eaten. Under the conceptual reality behind this reality you must want these waves to drag you away. After the song, time for applause. This cliché is death out of time, breaking the first the second the third the fourth wall, fifth wall, floor; no floor: you fall! How do you say “insane”? Hurts to be happy. An ear worm is a tune you can’t stop humming in a dream: “baby baby baby yeah”. Just plastic. So, safe and nothing to worry about. Ha ha, funny. The last egg breaks now. The hole in your room is a hole in you. You came and we let you in through the hole in you. You have always been here, the only child. A copy of a copy of a copy. Orange peel. The picture is you holding the picture. When you hear this you will know you’re in new you. You want to listen. You want to dream. You want to smile. You want to hurt. You don’t want to be.

Week of Weevil: Eucalyptus Snout beetle/Eucalyptus weevil/Gum Tree weevil (Gonipterus gibberus)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This little Weevil is from Australia! It eats and breeds on eucalyptus (a tree from Australia that's also called Tasmanian blue gum). It is 13 mm long and hard to distinguish from its close relatives; because of this, they share a lot of the same names and are often confused for one another. In most parts of the world, they are invasive pests that come along with eucalyptus trees. They were actually thought to be G. scutellatus until 2012, when they did a DNA analysis on the pests and discovered that none of them were true G. scutellatus. The Gonipterus gibberus populations in South America were also misidentified and are another different kind of weevil. All the published work on Gonipterus gibberus in South America (about things like life cycle, hosts, and more) prior to 2012 is incorrect and actually describing G. pulverulentus.

today's invertebrates....................acanthopleura spinosa and leptochiton rugatus
these two chitons are world famous yonk parabolers with vastly different tastes yet very similar audiences
one of them is evil and makes evil metallic wunks with loud, dark colours and strong vibrational qualities. it eats sour foods and drinks soda of yuck
the other is nice and composes soft and calming inks with its nice synthaciid instruments. it eats sugary foods and drinks soda of milk
despite these massive differences, they are the greatest of friends!

today's invertebrate.................camposcia retusa
she's covered herself in so many things that I couldn't even tell if she was an animal at first glance!
apparently she's the creator of a new style of true fashion called 'voynich derailia' which involves covering yourself in so many things that you look like an unreadable blob. it's fabulous and protects you from the sun when it gets angry!
also sometimes her friends like to climb on her back and pretend to be nomads on a golem-like steed

Hey don't cry, okay? We just found Attenborough’s long-beaked echidna, a species thought to be extinct for the past 60 years.

today's invertebrate................isostichopus badionotus
he may look like a sad lump of dough, but this echinoderm is actually a world renowned baker and merchant that makes soft biscuits and sells wads of fine detritus
but anyone whose eaten his biscuits will know that they are actually just clumps of detritus, and that his detritus is actually made up of ground up biscuits
this is a very confusing business model that he claims will boost his sales twofold (it's having the exact opposite effect)

Does anyone know this anamal!! I don't know this one! I found several in pond water and they all have the same lumpy body with a pointy tail. Up close they are completely covered in cilia like a flatworm, so I guess they might be a kind of flatworm. But maybe they're a kind of something else?
