"Now, as mentioned earlier, to work with the energies of Reiki, a person must go through an initiation into the system; your body must be attuned to the frequencies, the energy of the universal life force. Now there is a saying that, "Life is a series of never-ending initiations." ("True initiations never end.") This is one of those that is available to us all, yet it is one that must be sought after, like how the hero must search for the mad wizard in the wilds for knowledge, training to defeat the evil Lich King. While yes, you probably don't have to fight an evil monster (but if you do please go to your nearest forest immediately), the underlining theme of going after knowledge is the key. A more available, "real world" example is that of Carlos Castaneda's book series; Don Juan did not teach in the conventional sense, but made Castaneda "hunt" through the chaparral in the middle of the night for the knowledge himself. With the Zen and Ch'an traditions of Buddhism, one is expected to read the sutras, koans, yes, but the key to it all is their personal search beyond the pages for the knowledge; the books only serve to show the door for their "initiation", the flash of Satori. So too is the attunement only a process to show you the door; through it you yourself open the door, but what you find and do once you step through is entirely up to you."

Reread the Wei Chi reiki channelings.  Nothing really stands out, though it raises the point of the illusion of sacredness and describes the symbols purpose as distracting the conscious mind (while I won’t disagree with this, I will say that the line of thinking isn’t taken as far as it could have been).
