This weeks studio Practice I worked on music again and the free styling the way music can effect my movement from the words and the beat. I tried to not listen to the song before going into this research trying to find thing I’ve didn’t already know or be to oblivious to where I wanted to go. The study showed me that free styling opens my vocabulary in dance and is really need to find self expression as well as self identity so that’s what I did this week

When I listen to music I now try to think of is a way of exactitude trying to figure out what’s the meaning and how the artist is exciting their objective and how they make their situation more relatable without going overboard into things that are cliche or expected. The song I choose was “Calling my Spirit “ by Kodak Black and this song talks about how spiritual he was and giving homage to who his worships for everything he has! A verse from the song goes like” Every song Is on I be Calling my Spirits , I put my Hublo on rocks” this verse relates to my topic because in the verse he’s saying before he write a song he go to his spiritual place to seek direction and then goes on to talk about how the thing he was able to do from the blessings he received saying that he put diamonds on his hublot watch which is a very expensive watch and I’m sure the diamonds were expensive too!

During this long week I realize how much multiplicity could be in simple moments. For example, during this long week of rehearsal that we’ve been preparing for when it finally gets here everything went south. Not to name anybody’s name but when the choreographer came into the room she/he came for dancers heads. No one knew what to expect first he cusses out a girl/boy and tells him/her does it looks like she/he dance has she/he ever danced a day in his/her life and every body was just in shocked and that took the whole energy of the rehearsal into a different realm. While rehearsal was going the choreographer and his/hers assistant are sitting over to in the back which is now front for the dancers. Now during the run I see the choreographer whisper to the assistant “what the hell is he/she doing this is not my step”. So I just straightened up and learned what mistake not to do for that note but from that point I knew the choreographer has been in a bad mood plus he’s/she’s setting a piece on us that’s like his/her baby and it was the last day with this person so I kinda understand but idk why it had to be said in front of everyone but on the other hand during the rehearsal things was getting a little weird because we never got a break until near the end and plus he kept making the same groups run the 20 min. Piece back from the top if they need a correction so it was a lot with 3 different casts. Then at the end the choreographer cam for another dancer while the dancer was trying to give a suggestion on how we should take note so their won’t be arguments on how the choreographer meant thing but the choreographer cut the dancer off while speaking and says “you’re the most unfocused person here and you don’t take this seriously you need to worry about yourself before you try helping anybody else” and that really took everyone out of the because we thought we was supposed to help each other threw this and that was so personal that could’ve been said to the side this week was really rough and that was the multiplicity of the worse outcome of what you were trying to avoid.

This week I focused on silence and the beauty of it I tried meditation for about 30 mins of just sitting and breathing with me eyes clothes and just wondering in my brain it’s very calming distracting and refreshing because it’s seems like when you’re doing nothing you can notice every little sound you Normally don’t and once your done you almost felt like you woke up from a short nap that was so needed but you realize you removed yourself from reailty by being stationary you becoming one with the world almost like a dream.

#4 Using lightness
This week I was thinking how many ways lightness could be used in the body especially while moving heavy or more weighted I focused on how I to make something so heavy and weighted feel weightless

Entry #1
This week I read chapter 1 of this novel Called Six Memos for the Next Millennium by Italo Calvino. In the first chapter which is titled lightness to me it talk about how weight effects lightness and how the artist removes weight from everything. Calvino’s theory to me is that removing weight will bring in more lightness to the body, spirit & the world. He also believes bringing in lightness values more. Later on in the text there was a poem writing by Leopardi where he talks about the moon. In the poem he uses the moon as a “sensation of lightness”. He wrote the poem as if he was having a conversation with the moon “to trace its apparitions in the literatures of many times and places” basically he’s showing he audience the connection we as humans have with the moon. In the text he says “O gentle, gracious moon,I remember now, it must be a year ago, on the same hill I came to see you;”.
