Awesome art aside - the fact that an Irken - a short, DEFECTIVE one at that - was eligible to be a scientist alongside the definitive super-intelligent inventing race (its said that most Irken tech is actually made by conquered Vortions) - shows that ZIM really IS the genius he says he is. Just one that completely lacks direction and common sense.

This new transfer from Irk is rather troublesome...

I’m honestly tired of people babygirling Beavis both in and outside the fandom and I don’t think the movie or 2022 revival helps much. Even if people keep his a-hole teen boy nature they still characterize him as that way just because of Butt-Head goading him - so here’s a list of awful things Beavis has done - mostly outside of Butt-Head’s influence

Sadistically pulled a bumblebee’s limbs and wings off just to watch it squirm and suffer (You Might Think music video)

Stomped on and killed multiple men unprovoked in the Godzilla opening sequence of Do America (Butt-Head only swatted a helicopter away because it was in his face while trying to put the moves on a chick)

Said he would kiss a dead chick (“Candy Sale”)

Falsely accused a man of child molestation as a joke (“Manners suck”)

Stole the wallet off a guy he thought he killed (“Patsies”)

Was fine with letting Butt-Head drown (“Water Safety”) and wanted to burn him alive (“The Special One”)

Called a woman “old” and said she “should do something about that” in group therapy and made her cry (“Close Encounters”)

Claimed that he only cares about himself and everyone else should die (“Mr. Anderson’s Balls”)

Thought it would be funny if a guy fell on a pitchfork and it impaled him in the stomach (Rusty Cage music video commentary)

Asked if chicks would do anything he wanted in heaven (“The Final Judgment of Beavis”)

Peeped in on a woman going to the bathroom (“Vs the Vending Machine”)

Put a piece of paper up the butt of a horsefly and watch it slowly die of exhaustion while he looks upon it with glee (“Most Wanted”)

I’m usually not a fan of Invader ZIM roleswap AUs bc I think ZIM and Dib’s personalities and motivations are very intrinsically connected to their respective race/role but realistically if one were to happen I think both would actually end up being COMPETENT in their roles.

Hear me out.

ZIM mostly fails as an Invader not just because he doesn’t think things through but because he’s not subtle enough to sneak under the radar and effectively gain the trust of the humans/quality information because he’s too busy fighting Dib. Remember that his role as an Invader is not to destroy Earth but to exploit weaknesses and gather intel - something Tallest Red reminds him of. // But if he was a human that wanted to expose someone he would be loud and persistent and sadistic enough to get the attention needed to expose the alien and would probably use underhanded tactics such as planting “evidence” and setting traps to capture the creature. He is also self assured and arrogant enough to gain confidence from his fellow humans and manipulating them into believing what he says (as seen in FBI Warning of Doom and Hobo 13)

Meanwhile Dib is a lot less self confident and loud than ZIM and is dismissed by most of his peers because he lacks the blind confidence and manipulative nature that ZIM has. // But he is an effective spy as shown in Rise of Zitboy where he finds a break in ZIM’s security system and is quiet enough to go unnoticed to the point that ZIM takes him in as an intern in the comics and doesn’t figure it out until he exposes himself intentionally. He would probably make an excellent invader.

Unpopular opinion but the Skool ones are my fave. Ms. Bitters is my favorite character besides ZIM and the satire of the US education system is always hilarious. Plus these tend to be the most messed up and dark ones since ZIM is very much a threat to the average schoolkid while when he’s faced up against other aliens he’s kinda pathetic and the horror elements are lost.

(Note that most IZ episodes apply for more than one of these. That’s why I called them ‘genres’ rather than ‘types’ or ‘kinds’ of episodes. Most stories belong in more than one genre!)

new headcanon: ZIM is physically/mentally in his early to mid twenties (in IRKEN years) since thats how old Jhonen was when he created him and Jhonen has gone on record to say that ZIM was conceived as a representation of the negative characteristics of his adult self conflicting with his former child self (Dib). Probably also why he hates ZADR so much
