i genuinely do not care about like arguing over whether transmascs can be transgender women. not only is it like a waste of time, i think that the need to like defend the coherence of an identity from the most carrd-minded kindergarten understanding of gender tumblr users leads to people talking about the ontological uniqueness of transgender womanhood in a way that further removes transgender women's issues and transphobia from the broader issues of women's rights and women's liberation and reifies "transgender woman" as a "real" category. which it isn't! the carrd-minded transmascs are not talking about this because they are like trying to talk nuancedly about like these categories are social and break down in certain contexts, and everyone should know that. they want to be transgender women because its like edgy or transgressive! but everyone responds in a way that makes it impossible to have an actual conversation because it further reifies the idea that all of this shit is real and concrete
#It should be well understood that the idea of being transgender is western and relies on that context n like the general idea of having a#Gender thats not 1 to 1 with cis man and cis woman is not. Thus talking about trans identities like theyre concrete categories and not#Relationships to the western binary is stupid. "The market place of ideas" is kinda real we just stop as a soceity rehashing ideas on a large scale if it gets throughly debunked. Thinking about this cuz ppl go to colleges n get mad that their professors wont personally debate jesus with them.
Also i wish furries had this. Geneuinely some stuff in the community could benefit from an earnest "is this too far" debate *cough cough slapping animal genetalia on anthros cough cough*
