the sound caused her body to go rigid and draw her attention immediately away from anything else.. in the moment it felt like every negative emotion or feeling tried to claw its way to the surface. teeth grazing her lower lip , her focus no longer on anyone in the vicinity , nor is she aware that someone was watching her as she began to subconsciously walk towards the direction of where the explosion set off in the distance. polly cooper always carried a weapon on her person , you never could be too careful , especially where this could lead. it may be crazy , but this could be a groundbreaking shot at finding out what’s going on , maybe prevent another missing person. there were already several to account for.

the blonde caught onto the way Link’s hands moved so specifically , to anyone else it may have been random gestures -- but to anyone who knew - would recognize it as sign language. removing herself from the table , letting Ben know that she would be right back. “ hey, i’m polly. “ she spoke but as she did her hands translated her words. “ i don’t think we’ve met ? “ living in riverdale nearly her whole life , she definitely couldn’t recall the face. “ i wouldn’t pay attention to half of these guests , as far as i’m concerned they have no reason to judge. “ 

@pcllyisms frustration was present on his face when people kept bumping into link and attempting to strike up a conversation. he was a new face in town and he should have expected it because people liked things that were new and exciting, but after more than a handful of failed conversations the blonde was over it already. what may have seemed like a wild flapping of hands to some was actually a colorful insult towards the latest guest that had been rude to him about his lack of conversational skills. he just didn’t think anyone would notice what he was saying.

it only took seconds for someone to leave the room before he was slipping into his head again…falling into that pattern of trying to seem like he was stable and not falling apart. so, when polly scared him back to reality he only shook his head, denying even the obvious. “what?” he asked as if he didn’t really know what she was talking about. “no, it’s nothing… just a lot going on as usual. you know how it is.” he said and even plasted a grin on his face. “are the kids in bed? how are they after everything?” he asked knowing that they had their troubles. not even the poor kids couldn’t catch a break in a town like this. pea moved past polly into the living room and turned. “guess the better question is how are you doing?” 

the deflection had been a familiar one , mostly because she herself would pull the same stunt. “ yeah , they are -- they’re perfectly fine  . . . it’s safe to say at this point , i’m more concerned whether or not the person who watched them, lives or dies. “ because then that could be an entirely different onslaught of issues for her family. another reason to investigate or question whether polly should be rendered an unfit parent. it was already hard enough for her to obtain custody. but that would be a road she’d cross when she got to it. it didn’t allow her to dwell on her own predicament -- what she had witnessed over the film. but that could wait , and she decided that on her own. “ i’ll survive , but the better question here is -- how are you ? “ her eyes were searching his. “ you’ve taken care of me and my kids , f and have done so much for us -- for the serpents --  i’ve spent enough time around you to know that you’re not okay. you don’t have to put up a front with me , let me in. let me be there for you like you’re there for me. “ her words were tinged with sincerity and warmth that she hardly exuded towards anyone.

there was something going on , and polly could see the wear and tear that is evidently there. and so she decided to approach him. after putting juniper and dagwood to bed , she descended the staircase and the expression she caught a glimpse of only motivated her to come forward. placing a hand on his arm as she came up behind him , the startlement only confirmed her earlier suspicions. there really has been a lot happening around riverdale, and while she knew that he wasn’t alone -- she wanted him to know that she was also there.  just like he’s been there for her more times than anyone else. ❝ for as long as i’ve known you , i’ve never been able to startle you like that. ❞ she teased lightly as she moved around to face him.  ❝ where were you at just now ? ❞ her tone was softer.

it really was no surprise that the twins wanted to steal sweetpea away for another adventure they’ve devised. she told him that he didn’t have to , but the fact that he didn’t mind caused her to hesitate for only a moment. when will she ever get used to even having a brand of normalcy in her life? or actually being in the presence of someone who didn’t make her feel like she was on the edge of breaking. even if it’s something she should probably be used to by now -- she doesn’t think it’ll ever stop taking her by surprise. just as she’s folding the pullover blankets and readjusting the pillows to her standards -- but with little expectation that they will remain the same. the knocking on the door led her to believe that they came back early , “ you’re back earl--” but then the words were lost in her mouth as she stared cheryl directly. “ what are you doing here ? “ the ice practically aligned with every syllable as the daggers formed in her emerald cut stare. “ say what you have to say ,  the twins aren’t here so let’s put an end to this now. “ she had her reasons for blacklisting the blossoms the moment she retrieved custody of her children. and with the recent events happening -- it’s more so a necessity to

What was your biggest “what was I thinking?” moment?

❝ the biggest ? and i have to pick just one ?   ❞ she chewed on her lower lip in thought as her mind filed through her memories. and she had quite a few that could fall under that category.  ❝ definitely where i let juniper and dagwood anywhere near the Farm. they gave me refuge for a long time , but letting it go so far that I let them brainwash me . . . that’ll always stay with me. but all i can do is learn from that , and make sure it never happens again. ❞ back then she sought out something she didn’t have with her own family , but now polly has the means to reclaim and rebuild her life, for herself and her children.

do you have any crushes at the moment?

❝ crush is kind of elementary , but there is someone i do like , but i’m not sure if it’s something that’s worth entertaining. he doesn’t feel the same way , i would actually be shocked if he did. ❞

Betty had felt useless when it came to getting justice for the Serpents. And though she hadn’t been called down to the station, yet, and probably never would be, she made her own way down there to give Sheriff Keller some insight into the night they all shared together. The fire was the talk of the town right now and until it was solved why it had been done, it would be continue to be the talk of the town. But it was something Betty was use too and something she would always be use too, the rumors the swirled around town and the way people would throw glances in the directions of the those who were accused. It was nothing new around here and now was no different. 

As she came walking down the hallway to give the Sheriff another piece of her mind, against better judgment from some people, she ran into a familiar face. One she hadn’t seen or talked too since the night they had their fight and the younger Blonde got kicked out of the house.  “Hey.” she said back coldly, and as much as she tried to act like she didn’t care that Polly was in front of her. “Did Sheriff Keller call you in? or are you here sticking up for your boyfriend?” Though the the comment came out sarcastic, she was truly curious. And she couldn’t be all at fault here seeing as Betty was here to cover for Jughead too as well as to get the other Serpents out of trouble.

the tie between the sisters had been so obviously strained since the other overstepped. green eyes flared with a similar chill. elegant brows furrow at the other’s choice of words. she chose to not address it, but instead throw back the statement. “ says the person who’s here to do the exact same thing, we both know that Sheriff Keller wouldn’t call you down here. you must have forgotten , betty-- i’m serpent and i’ve been on the ghoulie side of the tracks , why wouldn’t keller call me in ? “ after all-- polly herself has been more notably unhinged if her track record said anything -- with fabricated lies from her parents regarding her mental status. “ oh wait , you weren’t here for that were you ? “ she asked, though her tone held a natural condescending tone -  it genuinely slipped her mind.

the twins were upstairs and polly nearly finished up the spaghetti that she said she’d make. cooking had always been one of her many ways to relieve herself from stress -- even if it was just a temporary fix. the babysitter that she assigned to look after her children is now in the hospital facing critical injuries. and dagwood and juniper didn’t even bother to hide the fact that they did it intentionally. all because of the rumors that they overheard. setting the spoon down the second she heard the doorbell , wiping down the splatter of sauce on the counter , she moved towards the door and opened it to see sweet pea. “ hey , come in. “ she said before stepping away from the door. “ dinner’s almost done - “ polly informed with a smile , but it wilted after a moment. “ remember how i told you that the twins were acting strangely ? there was an accident with the babysitter - they pushed her down the stairs over rumors that they heard, she’s in the hospital right now. “

pea kicked at the dirt on the ground, his boot digging in as he listened to polly. so far he seemed to be failing at making sure the people were really okay in his life. but when he felt so…tangled it seemed impossible. “eli, huh? yeah i guess we all were lucky to have had someone there. jug and i… were in the room together.” this wasn’t going to be the day pea was blessing the return of the weirdo but he was glad there was someone there to help him get out. his dark hues flickered up and for a moment he shrugged. “right… those kids are doing good, right?” he asked before looking at the station he was called upon. “sure…i guess i can stop by later as long as they don’t decide to lock up all of us serpents before dinner that is.” he said bitterly. “you got to cook dinner though, deal?” 

“ you ? and jughead ? that’s different -- but not surprising that you two would end up in the same room , luckily you guys did -- “ she offered a smile. because honestly -- the thought of losing another person in her life -- didn’t set right with her. there’s been enough tragedy to go around lately. the soft smile faded at the question regarding the twins. “ I’m not going to lie - they’re acting strangely , so i’ve been keeping an eye on them... “ polly confessed, and her kids were very susceptible to stressful situations. especially where their mother was concerned. “ that’s giving the riverdale police more credit than they deserve , “ the remark came out sarcastic as she viewed them as highly incompetent in their search -- whether their targets were either innocent or guilty.  “ deal. i’ll even make your favorite. is spaghetti okay ? “ she knew he had a love for italian , but the dishes were always a wide range.

sweet pea was more and more convinced that what she saw in the room she was in hit her just as close as the one he watched. pea had gone days and he was still feeling the weight of heartache having to watch what had happened to joaquin. “you don’t need to explain it to me…i get it.” he said in a hushed tone, running a hand through the raven hair on the back of his neck. “yeah… from what im getting everyone had to watch something before that fire picked up…” he said with a sigh. “but… you made it out alright, i see, so that’s good.” pea looked around and found himself clearing his throat. “i…have had to keep myself busy. i woulda came by if you needed it, you know?” he offered since he did like to know just how many of his friends were affected by that night and so far it had been more than he wanted. especially since he and toni wanted nothing more than to stop this person.

even if he said she didn’t need to explain -- it felt as if she should have. out of so many residents , sweet pea had been there for her in her darkest moments. and yet she found herself falling away from her progress. ivories press down on her lower lip as she debated her next choice of words. “ honestly , if it weren’t for eli I probably wouldn’t have gotten so lucky ... .“ she recalled the memory as if it happened just yesterday. the events still remain rampant in her thoughts.  “ still -- i’m sorry. “ he deserved more than what she’d given him -- even with her own trauma from the showing. “ i have to pick up juniper and dagwood -- can you -- come by tonight and we can talk more about what happened ? please ? “

pea really was feeling like he was not able to move without being pulled one way or the other. he was stuck between the whyte wyrm, visiting the hospital, and now having to waste his time with the police who were obviously just getting anything to spread more rumors against the serpents. and here he was finding a blonde face who despite obvious stress looked all too familiar. “look who came crawling out of the cracks, cooper.” he said looking her way when she spoke. days had past and he had not heard a word from her, a text would have done just fine but he got nothing. “i …heard you were there.” he said not needing to go further into it. she knew exactly what he was talking about.

the air felt tense and the guilt settled in. it seemed sweet pea ignited something new within her dormant heart. she wasn’t used to feeling close to people , and it reminded her of how connected she let herself become to some of the people in riverdale. all in all , she came a long way from her time with Jason. and that video set her back to a time she thought she’d recovered from. but it led her to neglect the present aspects of her life.  “ i’m sorry i went radio silent i just ...  “ she started,  hand rubbed at her arm where a burn had been bandaged underneath her sleeve. “ there was a video-- and i panicked... “ and so she stuck with her kids until she could get her head out of the place it found itself in.

the events rattled her to the core , she couldn’t even resurface from her own home. the fear didn’t exist for herself , and certainly not in this situation -- but there was a piece revealed to her through that snuff film. the disturbing part was -- it wasn’t faked. FP really saw her run off with Jason Blossom -- and it could have been what ultimately led to his death. The wound had been reopened and salted with that grim discovery. Did her own mother know about it ? Another lie that Alice could add to the never-ending list , and she couldn’t even color herself as shocked at anything Alice Cooper did or didn’t do when it came to raising her and beyond that.

 a couple days passed and the fire would still be the talk of the town. given her own history with the ghoulies --and her association with the serpents-- sheriff keller thought she’d be a missing piece to the investigation puzzle.  while she complied , polly hardly made their jobs easy. voicing that the serpents were innocent and pointing to the ghoulie’s direction hardly seemed to do anything but annoy them. it was all so bizarre for someone to be so adverse to the truth. her green eyes flashed to the face of someone familiar , but the restlessness urged her to avoid any further interaction. “ hey --  “  the greeting came awkwardly as she had been leaving everyone on read since that night. and maybe it was selfish to not check up on others -- but she couldn’t be any help  to anyone while she was crumbling.

“Hey now. It’s Goldsworthy,” Eli scolded playfully. “Emphasis on the “worthy”. So, unless you want me to start calling you Ms. Pocket, put some respect on my name.” His grin reached his eyes. “For real though. Start over. Tell me again why you’re into green vegetables now.”

there’s a smile cracked at the edges of her lips and her nose wrinkled at the name. since events transpired , she had been striving for answers. but also compartmentalize the relived moments. “ i think the important question is -- why don’t you ? they’re very underappreciated. “ she retorted with a playful tone rolling off her tongue. it was nice to have a conversation where she didn’t have to place too much thought into. something easy. “ i feel like i should probably thank you. “  polly admitted softly

being slandered as a traitor amongst the ghoulie flood , only one could imagine the type of attention that reflected in behind the hollowed appearances. getting to that room became a focal point to her , and she didn’t even realize eli was there until she collided into him. taking a step back , she gave him a look. “ hey yourself -- you’re the last person i expected to see here --  i’d say it’s good to see you , but with all things considering --. “ of course , some would say the same for her. anyone who never really knew polly would say she’s out of her element , but she’s not as harmless as some would make her out to be. “ wait , did i hear you had room number one , too?  “ she flashed the number of her own sheet and then crumbled it to shove it in the back pocket of her jeans. “ guess we’re going the same way. “ 

Eli scanned the room for familiar faces. “You’d think the Ghoulies would know how to throw a better party.” Eli dipped the ladle into the dark burgundy punch, filling his solo cup halfway. He sniffed once, shrugged softly and downed the liquid without another moment’s hesitation. It wouldn’t make the night any worse. The theatrics of the festival were boring. The strobing lights and looping projection on the walls? An uninspired art piece. Eli had seen better atmosphere at school-sanctioned haunted houses, better costumes at book conventions. Hell, his zombie short in high school had better effects. He took the numbered piece of paper out of his jacket pocket. “One,” he read aloud. “How… ominous.” Eli crumpled the paper and dropped it into his cup. He wasn’t going to waste his time. He turned, immediately bumping into someone. “Woah. Okay. Not exactly my idea of a meet-cute, but hi.”
